    your hair looks awesome.
Sigh. I'm glad you can ignore those natural hair "nazis." People are always trying to politicize Black women's beauty choices. DO YOU!

I think that women should be able to wear their anyway they please... My mum had lightly wavey hair when she was younger and got it permed cause she wanted curly curly hair and she copped a lot bullying by people calling her a wannabe...

Gorgeous! When I want straight hair I just throw on a lace front tbh, because I'm too lazy to straighten all my hair.

Your hair looks gorg! You're so blessed that your parents knew enough not to put a relaxer in your hair as you were growing up. I'd love to hear that story and how they didn't fall under the pressure of relaxers. It's ultimately your choice, but try to keep those gorg, healthy locks as you're an inspiration to us newly naturals. Stay blessed!

+jrlottery7 My mom had a relaxer and my oldest sister also but by the time I came along my mom had stopped getting relaxers so it wasn't no use giving me one. I'm glad she didn't though but I had my own hair problems. I had heat damage and damage from coloring it so much so I had to go through a transitioning phase also :(

  • @ivyvine4204

You might want to try using a 2 inch plate flat iron to do your hair. It's usually less time consuming and is better for thick and longer hair. I couldn't imagine using a 1 inch other than for touch ups. I don't have African American hair, but my hair is really coarse (I'm a redhead), very curly, and usually on the longer side. I'm lucky that I don't have to pay as much attention to the heat, I just crank it up to the maximum 455F on my iron, my hair won't lose the curl unless I do.
It used to take me an hour to straighten my hair but then I found a great mid-priced flat iron and started using it more often and I can now get my hair done in 15 min. My hair isn't as thick as it used to be when younger, so I don't do as much parting, I only do the 4 sections, and I don't bother with a brush or comb. My hair is very easy to knot, but the flat iron will brush my hair for me and any knots just fall apart. I also don't brush my hair dry normally, as it gives me a huge afro. I brush when damp, let my hair dry pulled back, then later just start to straighten it from that.
I guess a lot of people would say I'm doing everything wrong, but it's what works for my hair. So just find what works for yours, but maybe try a 2 inch iron a few times to see if you can get it to work well or not.

I remember when I was learning to straighten my natural hair. You need to use an anti-frizz cream afterwards to prevent your hair from doubling in size. I used John Frieda's Secret Weapon. You DON'T need a ton of it or your hair will look greasy. And don't flat iron directly over it. Just use a light coat on your ends then work your hands up towards your scalp . For best results work it into the section of hair immediately after applying heat. This will ensure it seals into your still warm hair without sizzling from direct contact with the plates. ;D I know these hair trials can take awhile but you are getting it girl!

Nice job, I can't straighten my hair anymore, because the second time I straightened my hair I got major heat damage. It's growing off now but I was devastated!

You have the same problem as me you should try using the clamp brush it's kind a like using the comb . Like the Chase method when straightening you clamp the brush right after the straightener and it straightened your hair perfectly and use a little bit less oils . Also i know your scared of heat but blow drying in cool to warm to then hot works good too!

IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! You look gorgeous!!💗💗💗💗💗. I've always wondered, are you mixed with anything? I know Black is beautiful girl and our hair is amazingly unique. But my father is Jamaican and German and my mother is just Jamaican and I have a mixture of 3c-4a hair. So it's always been on my mind to know lol!

Actually i thought your hair was pretty in the fails too :/
I hope you're still open to constructive comments. Your sections were never too big so to speak. They were too thick. If you part your hair into 4 sections to start then make thin partings from each of those sections it takes less time.
I think you would be super-happy with adding a rat tail comb to the mix. It makes parting faster and as long as your hair isn't tangled it gives the perfect amount of tension to get a nice and shiny finished style.
Please find the concentrator nozzle for you blow dryer. It really does help to smooth your hair.

  • @loca1243

for it to last longer do the up and down close to the root... and heat protectant I believe that it's better to use one that you apply when the hair is wet, cause you can grease up the hair

    • @loca1243
      @loca1243 9 лет назад

ohh and try not to put too much heat on the ends, when you wash your hair put conditioner from ends to scalp
