Not a lot of money in Women's hockey. She's probably doing better for herself running her private coaching business and doing this. She also really wasn't an "elite" player from what I remember. Still better than anyone at your local beer league, but mostly average or slightly bellow in a group of other professionals. So it was probably better to turn to coaching as a long term thing.
@@adamleblanc5294 Hockey success is more than the product or results you see on the ice. Just look at the analytics space that's blown up in recent years. @@realCarlosMazda Except statistically speaking, things that have gone "woke" according to people like you, have actually performed better. You guys just like to point out the exceptions, rather than the actual trends. A woman having a job isn't "woke," snowflake. You're only recognizing the patterns that give you confirmation bias.
Her qualifications aren't what I would be worried about. People completely ignoring the dynamic between men and women like it doesn't exist is absolutely wild. Whether its sexual, leadership, submissive vs dominant, it all exists, its natural and biologically ingrained in us as humans. And it is ten fold with a bunch of young hypercompetative men in their prime. Ignoring it is asinine, if I were an owner of any sports organization I would never let a female coach my team and qualifications or ability would have nothing to do with it.
Time to grow up, then. A woman can absolutely still be respected in a role like this, regardless of what is "biologically ingrained." If the players can't treat her as such, then again, they need to grow up. She's a human being, and one who is qualified for the job. Treat her like it.
@STARPHASE "growing up" has nothing to do with it. I'm not even questioning her qualifications or ability, she was a great player, and has been coaching for a while now, she has a great resume and I'm sure she is fantastic. If I were an owner I might consider her for an assistant position or something. She's more than qualified, and yes, grown men should be able to deal with biological urges. But to pretend they don't exist or are not a distraction, particularly among hyper competative 20 something year olds, is absolutely asinine. You are only fooling yourself if you think it has no bearing on the team. And in a multi million dollar industry where the main goal is to win, any distraction, is a liabilty. I'm not saying shes not qualified, I'm not saying she doesn't deserve the job, I'm saying it is 100 percent a liability and there are many other coaches that have the same qualifications as her. I'm not even saying that is fair, to her in particular, but it is what it is, and it is fact. There are some roles in society that women absolutely should not fill, and some roles such as this that they may be qualified/able to fill, but probably shouldn't. Same goes for men. Ignoring these basic biological facts is just plain ignorant.

She’s still relatively young surprised she’s not still playing
Not a lot of money in Women's hockey. She's probably doing better for herself running her private coaching business and doing this. She also really wasn't an "elite" player from what I remember. Still better than anyone at your local beer league, but mostly average or slightly bellow in a group of other professionals. So it was probably better to turn to coaching as a long term thing.
@@adamleblanc5294 Hockey success is more than the product or results you see on the ice. Just look at the analytics space that's blown up in recent years. Who knew some computer programmer would be important in assembling or analyzing a team when they probably never set foot on the ice much less laced up for an NHL game. Put another way, you don't need astronauts to work for NASA but smart people who know maths so the spaceships don't blow up or crash onto the planets.

They recently had to fire the male head coach of the N,Y. Jets. He didn’t take it well,They had to call security to escort his ASS out. If they have to fire her,I’m sure she’ll be professional about it. Btw,stupid comment.

THE ODDS, THAT THERE ISN’T NO ONE ELSE WHO IS BETTER QUALIFIED IS PRETTY SLIM ..!
what are the odds that 50 percent of the population will never be qualified to coach based on the body they were born into? Your odds are wrong.
Define “better qualified.” There is no algorithm to determine that. This is a great hire and the fact that she’s a woman is even better.
Sure, but even if that was something you could measure, that goes for all but one human in the entire world. The fact that you bring it up with the first female coach is saying more about you than her. With the exception of Graham Michael James the d*ck is not used in the coaching role. The irony of this channel's name and this story.
She’s going to do well. There will now be inspiring slogans in the dressing room such as Live Laugh Love and if she has a problem with the call on the ice she can ask to speak to the manager.
You know at the end of the day, does she know her stuff and do the players respect her. Male or female, if they know the game and know what they’re talking about/ coaching that’s all that matters.
Doesn’t surprise me. Seattle being one of the most woke cities on the planet. This is just another undermining jab to the league. And I highly doubt she’s can give any skating instruction to these guys who are at the highest level. Just sad

And to make the transition from stand-up comedy to NHL assistant coach is pretty amazing too.
Just like all the female commentators are experts. None of them played at the nhl level.

I’ve often credited this lady from Mississauga who ran power skating clinics with my son’s skating success. Same when he was in Syracuse and Columbus and Red Army in the KHL. If you take the time to listen to Cassie Campbell or Jennifer Botteril or Cheryl Pounder ( all national team members and Olympic Gold medalists) who all have experience as pundits on NHL broadcasts here in Canada, their perspective(s) are spot on. It’s all about perspective guys; this lady would not be on an NHL bench unless she was qualified. She’s earned her spot on an NHL bench.
