So i bought this vaccuum, after researching alot about robot vacuums on the internet. Since i didn't want to spend the money to get the more advanced ones, i bought this one. The questions i had before buying this were: 1. Is this robot as good as the ones that creates a "map" of its enviroment? 2. How much noise does it make? Okay. so. This robot does not create a map of its enviroment, it goes in a more random pattern. That being said. The algorithm that they made, makes this robot function quite well. Although it does run over the same spots multiple times, it actually manages to clean my entire appartment without any problems in around 30-45 minutes. That being said. I dont run it for the full 30-45 minutes. Instead, 3 times a week, when i am walking my dog for around 15-20 minutes, i let it run while im not home.. with this schedule, my appartment is always clean. Now, the noise it makes, in my opinion is mid tier. Its not as loud as an actual manual vacuum cleaner, but its also not as quiet as i thought. But as i said, i only run this when im not home, so i don't notice it anyway. Also, i want to mention that when its running, you can't really hear it, standing outside the appartment, so its most likely not going to annoy your neighbours. The last thing i want to mention, is that its brush will quite easily get clogged up, if you leave something on the floor. I have had my vacuum stop cleaning, due to a sock being stuck in the brush a couple of times. Also, today, somehow, my earphones had fallen to the floor, which got tangled in the brush aswell. This is all user error of course, and its VERY easy to clean the brush.. you just need to flip the vacuum over, and press 2 buttons, this will make you able to easily pop out the brush, and untangle whatever is tangled in it. Overall, i would recommend this vacuum! It deff. does the job, and the maintenance is very very easy. Just make sure that you don't have stuff laying on the floor. Another benefit of this vacuum, is that it has a HEPA filter, which you are supposed to replace every 6 months or so. These are very cheap, and this filter basically means that whatever air it sucks in, gets purified of possible pollen/microbes/whatever. So while your floor is clean, the indoor air also gets better. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. as long as this machine works, i never have to vacuum.
I originally bought the Roomba j7 back in 2021, with all the bells and whistles (self-emptying bin and everything) as a Christmas present for my parents. We ended up returning it a week or so later because I think it was a bit over our heads at the time, and there was a lot going on with it that I wasn't sure about regarding the maintenance of it and stuff. Bought this one just yesterday on Amazon and getting it this weekend. I want to give Roomba another chance, because it's a great idea in concept. I think this will be a nice starter unit and a lot easier to figure out/maintain. ;o
It would be interesting to see an agitation comparison between the all rubber brushes and this. Of course the all rubber won't get as tangled, but does it get as deep into the fibers?
Thank you for this suggestion! I am currently trying to figure out how best to compare all these vacuums I have! You would think with this one have the bristles it would agitate more out vs the double rubber of the i models... but just from use around my house I can't tell a difference.
Thanks for this! I just tried my 694 for the first time and already love it. Just one question, which the useless manual doesn’t cover 😂: how do I put it in spot cleaning mode? Thanks.
hahaha so there is a button right about the big round "Clean" button in the middle that will activate spot cleaning! -Thanks for the watch and comment! ~B
Man, thank you for this. The included documentation was lacking at best. Once I put it in pairing mode I was finally able to connect the unit to my wifi...oddly enough, those instructions aren't included in the quick set up instructions
There was only only one placard in the box with just basic instructions on how to get started. The detailed book you have that tells you how to empty it, etc., was not in the box.
Is there a way to run it without adding an app or wifi. I need something for my grandfather who doesn't have those. Just need something to turn off and on manually ...in other words easy. Any recommendations? thanks
New unit. After pulling out the battery tab, I got error #1 charging error. What? Removing the four screws on cover and removing the battery, there it is, a charging spring laying down sideways hence the charging error message. I’m assuming it got pulled over from pulling the tab. I bent it back straight and all is well with charging now.
I like your video but it did not help me.I have a roomba model 692 that keep saying error 2,I replaced new brushes opened the gear box which was clean but still error 2.any ideas?

I got a Robot Roomba Clean Base that is suppose to be compatible to the iRobot Roomba 694 but can not get it to work with it ...what am i doing wrong ???
Having trouble to schedule a job with specific cleaning time length? How do I tell Roomba to go back to home base after certain time period? When does Roomba go back home base? We are at 100mins now and it's still going unless we send it back home 😥
That's a great question! I don't know if there is a way to specify time lengths.I think it just cleans until it's running low on battery and then heads back to home base. ~B
100 minutes is very impressive, but you posed a great question. If it's duration is longer than desired, can't you just press the home button as an alternative? I set mine to run while I sleep and don't care about run time, but I see how setting g a specific duration would help some. I think with many things that are AI or robotic, there are compromises and figuring out a way to work within those limitations is key.
@@DigitalDavid David, when I try internet connection, it says does not work with 5 g. 5G……..would this be causing the prob. I have no idea if fully charged.
That honestly shouldn't affect whether or not the indicator light works. I'm pretty sure there is an indicator light on the top of the charger to the right of the sensor. I'd recommend contacting customer support if it's not working ~B
That's interesting. I'm honestly not sure what could be causing that. I wonder if customer support could help? Def try turning it off for a little while and try again too ~B
It goes random. It's like randomly throwing dice. If you throw them enough, you'll eventually snake eyes. Therefore, at some point, it will cover the entire floor just going randomly.

I have a larger home with lots of rooms and it doesn’t seem to leave the room where the base station is. How do I get it to learn the whole house?
I am having the same problem. Did you solve this issue?
I wonder if the battery is damaged or wearing out. If so, that would explain why it stays close to the charger.. That's just a guess though!

Can you do mapping with it? Like other roombas.
This Roomba does not have the Mapping feature. -MB
I like the speed an voice volume of the guy. Finaly not some old dude with too low tension
Thank you Jereon, we appreciate your feedback! cnl
My wifi is a 5gh network, the iRobot app says it will only run on 2.4gh, how do I change either to accommodate my iroomba
You need a dual band router (most if they have 5ghz also have 2.4ghz) so check your router settings and see if you can find the 2.4 ghz!
Does it have mapping technology? Like can i map out my house and create boundaries.
No, this one does not have mapping technology! -MB
How can you know if the vac covered every spot in a room?
Just about!
I would have been nice to know if it handles the invisible wall, great job on the video
This does not have virtual walls/barriers so that is why you didn't see anything on it!
What does the thing on top of the bumper do
Infrared sensor! This is how it navigates!
is there ANY difference between this and the 692?
One comes with a filter that is the 694
They are definitely pretty similar!

What are the other models with mapping that you think are better for a similar price?

what if you don't use wifi nor use smart phones? where is the remote like the 761 series?

Seems like a waste if it's going to be random and miss a lot of areas. If I have to go clean what it didn't that seems redundant.
