Great idea Vicky to get Mark to do this amazing ride with you, loved the video Mark it made me feel that I wanted to do it myself one day.. nice drone views again..👏👍
Great video I did the South downs way the day before the summer solstice this year doing this next year on the summer solstice. Thank you again for a great video
I am more inspired than ever to do this (and living a few miles from Whitehaven, I have no excuse). I didn't realise how much of it was off road, which is great
There is quite a bit of it on roads to be fair but very quiet country roads and hardly saw any cars . As you go along you get offered an alternative off road section . I was amazed how well signposted either section was . You could do this pretty much without a gpx although there were a couple of sections where you could turn left or right and no signpost to confirm but if you didn't see a sign within a few hundred yards , you probably made the wrong choice lol. Thanks for the comment and yes deffo go do it 👍
I did it 20 years ago, and missed the route twice, near Keswick and and the Consett. It was good to see some bits I'd missed, even though I couldn't go off toad as much as you could. What a shame that cafe at the top of Hartside burned down. It was a welcome stop after that climb, up the little road avoiding the main road. Would love to do it again, but I fear I'm not up to it any more. Very enjoyable video, thanks.
Thanks Michael for your nice words. There's probably a lot more signs up now than there was 20 years ago. I think I came across only 1 junction where you weren't sure which way . Such a beautiful ride !
From the USA... I'm looking forward to coming over the summer after next and doing the C2C from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. I've done a good bit of distance riding here in the states, most notably the 2022 Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) from the Chattahoochee River in Columbus to the Atlantic Ocean at Brunswick - entirely across the state at 374 miles. If things line up, I plan to do BRAG 2024. In the meantime, I enjoy watching videos like this, learning a few things and getting prepared!🇺🇸🇬🇧
Another good one is the 100 mile south downs ride from Winchester to Eastbourne. Go west to east though as the winds are predominantly from the west lol
Nice video. I’d like to do that… I’m intrigued about the range of your EMTBs? Seemed a long ride on day 1, my Giant Trance would have only made it 40 miles or so.
Yeah you need a spare battery as we did . We were lucky enough to have a friend who supported us in the van and met us at various points . If I was dping it without support., I'd of found a pub to dump the batteries at. If you get about 40 miles you probably need 3 tbh or break it up over 2 days with 1 spare battery
I really wanted to gey that shot but it was exactly that , we wanted to crack on as was dodging sone pretty nast rainy clouds lol thanks for your comments :-)
Great video thanks. I cycled parts of this trail in the 90’s. I thought my cycling expeditions were over but I’d forgotten about electric bikes. Where did you charge them and how often? Btw, what are breakfasses? Are they like breakfasts?🤔😁
So many questions! First of all, well done. 👏🏻 How many spare batteries did you have? What navigation did you use? Where did you get the route from? My brother and I did it in three days a couple of years ago on emtb’s. We tried again just recently and got into trouble 35 miles in. We set off late, and it was getting very dark 3 miles from our first stop. Komoot took us into a boggy, overgrown, unused marshland. It was horrendous, and we called off the rest of the trip. 🤦🏼
Lovely video with a great narrative and a great achievement to do this in two days!. I did this ride back in 2019 with my wife and son over three days and the best part of the ride was from Nenthead to Eastgate which was 12 miles downhill! Really liked the look of your EMTB's, what make were they?
Yes bud both ebikes , I think vickys is a haibike all mtn 7 and mine is an orbea wild m10. We ran in eco and trail mode for most of it but at best you're gonna do half of it in 1 day unless you've got 2 sets of batteries
HI mark, i've just watched your c2c video. It looked epic and fancy doing this this summer. Quick question, wheredid you get the route from or did you make one yourself. Cheers Phill
Brill vid, did you use a gpx file for route or did you jist know where you were going, iv not done it befor but plan to in August and like the look of this route

@YFRacing ha ha brilliant . Haven't seen one of those in years . Obviously I had one as a kid . You have to video that. Please send me a link to any social on it
No its a bit of a con on there and doesn't help tbh . Best bet is just keep hitting tons of fb groups uve found is the best way but obviously takes alot of investment in time
July buddy . I'm gutted really it started raining as the last 3rd of the route is pretty much downhill if you go west to east and could of completed it in a day rather than the 2 days
@mbrylewski not far off a pensioner myself lol Let me know how you get on and any videos you do send me a link . It's a great ride , not too hilly and plenty of places to get a bite to eat . Will look forward to hearing how you got on !
@mbrylewski we stayed at a mates house that lived close to the route., but I did have a quick look for you and think you might find this website useful 👇 cycle.travel/route/c2c/stay

lol probable pluging them in every 50 miles
Youre not far wrong , we did this on 2 charges
@@andrewhayes7055I hardly use much of the battery, it’s always a surprise how much battery I have left at the end of a ride
