- In this episode I fit the car with new 18" wheels and tires. The wheels are from Summit Racing, they're Vision Wheel P/N 143-8961GMML12, 18"x9.5" wide with a 5.75" backspacing. The tires I used are size 275/40 ZR18 front and rear. The fronts are new Nitto NT 555 G2, rears are used Goodyear Eagle F1 GS. You'll get to see some of the latest reverse tire mounting and road force balancing technology too.
I also tackle a charging system gremlin that I thought I fixed in Episode 1. The final result with the new rims & tires are shown at the end along with close-ups of the clearance.
Here is a link to an excellent video that I watched at least a half dozen times before purchasing my rims. Caution, it does have a few F-bombs in it, but his content and information is spot on. He shows how to fit the absolute largest tires possible on an A-body Chevelle with stock wheelwells.

1:03 - The new rims
3:28 - Test fitting the bare rims on the front of the car at full steering lock at ride height
5:28 - Cold start and off to find a tire shop
6:08 - A good look at the car with the stock Oldsmobile Super Stock 2 wheels (they are 14x6 or 14x7" with snap on center caps)
8:36 - A visit to Gearheads Family Automotive in Cuyahoga Falls, OH (www.gearheadsohio.com) - He shows us their high-tech tire mountiing equipment and road force balancing machine.
20:54 - I figured out why the new Powermaster 140 Amp Alternator (stock is 55A) wasn't charging the new battery
27:25 - A nice surprise under the rear bumper - the license plate lamp
28:50 - New taillight lenses and front parking lamp lenses

I’m a total gear head along with being a boot and shoe nerd.
So I love this content, very cool.
GrEaT!! 👊🏼
I'm not really into cars and don't know much about them, but perhaps I should go down this new rabbit hole! Great work, Robert.😎
I’ve always loved cars… I won’t say you SHOULD pursue it, but it’s worth checking out. It can get expensive though. When I was younger we started by modding our daily driver cars.
I like the new content! The purple people eater is looking great too!!!👍
😂 thank you!
Now we need to know how you mirror shine the car!
Once the car mod bug bites, it bites hard.
Great video! I love getting packages from Fusick. Keep the videos coming, very informative.
Man, I’ve really love the past two videos. It’s so nice seeing how you troubleshoot all of the little problems you run into.
You’d think putting new wheels on a car would be as easy as just swapping them in, but there’s so much you need to check to make sure you won’t have problems down the road.
Hey Bob, the car is looking great....you got me going on my shoes again and now you got me recalling my years with the vintage vehicles I've had.
I like the factory wheels...with wider rubber & white raised letters......not crazy over the after market thin sidewall wheels..to each his own......
Fair enough! I appreciate your civility. Wheels are a very personal taste, I've come to realize that.
Hello Robert I'm a fan of your channel, I love your car! I don't want to be a negative comment Troll, but I hope you are just test-fitting those old tyres, I assume the car shop already told you that, but old rubber gets hard and cracks, and theres a safety concern on those blowing up while driving, hope it never happens but man there are some things you don't cheap out, like your life and safety. I wish only the best to you.
Robert, love your Cutlass with your new wheels. They look amazing. I have a 71 Cutlass Supreme convertible so I am totally enjoying watching you transform your car into what you envision it to be. I live in Alliance, OH so maybe I will see you and your car in person someday. I went to the Northern Ohio Olds Show in August and actually parked next to the guy that you had interviewed in a prior video. He had the 70 maroon Cutlass Supreme convertible that had the 3 on the tree transmission. He was a very interesting guy. Keep your videos coming and will keep watching your progress with your Cutlass.
Another awesome episode!!!
Great video, very education. great job showing how to properly upsize wheels for fitment, mounting & balancing.
The tires look friggin awesome Rob, I had deep dish cragar and I had 15's 50's in the rear and 60's for the front, Mickey Thompson tires and I had my wiring harness replaced at the Klinic and they did a great job 😎👍.
THANK you!!
Great vid Robert, looking forward to the entire series of this car ‘makeover’
Some helpful insights.
Nice work, Bob! Enjoy every minute of it!
Thank you, I’m glad to hear that!
Clean ride
Looks good.
looks great!!
I do shoes restoration.and repair professional flutes. Any restoration that I do IS A THERAPY. Iam 66 and I enjoy doing restorations.
Niiiiiiiice!!!!! 😎
So all of this just to Ruin the look of the car and make it look horrible with these hideous looking rims and wagon wheel tires that belong on a donk vehicle!!! What you really need is an ugly Impala. Go Ruin one of those and no one will care. Leave these Oldsmobile's alone.
LOL! Please don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. I am always amused when people scream that changing wheels "ruined" a car, like it's a difficult modificaton to reverse or something.
@@CobblerBobremember bad press is still press… more comments help the algorithm and get you more clicks. Don’t listen to negative Nancy. Oldsmobile Cadillac Polly way to go. Enjoy the car.
