I had the opportunity to get a bottle of Crown Royal "Coffey Rye" 103 proof, that was a store pick from around 2015. That bottle changed my mind about rye whiskey, Canadian whiskey, and Crown Royal, all at the same time. I was definitely in a beginners mode, learning stage of collectiing whiskey at that time but the whole experience of that one bottle helped me to go in the right directions of expanding my palate. Cheers!

My first experience as a beginner with a store pick of Crown was great, regular Crown, not so much, that's what made me want to review this bottle. I wish I could go back in time and see if I like it as much now as I did then🥃

@@BourbonDrop with Canadian whiskeys they usually don't have a typical mash bill. The percentages are what they blend. This explains why a bourbon with a similar mash bill before fermentation tastes different than a Canadian blend where each type of spirit is blended together right before bottling.

My last experience with Crown was in my 20s and culminated with me throwing up 3 times on the way home. Now that I drink it whiskey like a gentleman, maybe I’ll explore it again 😂

I just learned something today. I never knew Crown had a single barrel. I appreciate this video because had I saw this in the store I would've bought it and probably still might

Nice review! I have a Crown Royal 18 yr that’s delicious! I’m 61 and I have a standard Crown Royal giving to me for my 21st birthday unopened bottled in 1971!

WOW! That's incredible! I know a Crown Head would pay a pretty penny for it.

Does anyone put out a larger spread of expressions than CR? It seems like they’re always experimenting with flavors and blends. That being said, when I was new to whiskey and bourbon I thought it was a top shelf pour. Now that I have a little more experience, it’s not something I would pick but I see why a lot of people like it. And I comes with a free spare change bag when you’re done! I like free!😂

Crown Royal Salted Caramel is what got me into whiskey so I already have a love for CR! If you haven’t had it please try it. It’s only released for thanksgiving and Christmas season.

I wonder if the lower malted barley component is impacting the flavor. I’ve seen these and was curious. Seems ok but for what it costs around me I may pass it up.

I would not spend more than MSRP! It's very fruity, slightly thin leans more towards a n Irish whisky than a bourbon. Bourbon can range from 5% to 15% in malted Rye so that could have some impact on the flavor. I didn't get any spicy, grassy, bubble gum notes. It may be because of the colder climate that Canada has kind of like Northern European whisky's.

I hate to admit it but the only Crown Royal I buy is the apple or peach. They are great mixers in the summer. Apple crown and cranberry or peach crown and sweet tea

I'm not much of a fan of Canadian whiskey. To me, it light in color, and light on taste, and a little weak on proof.
