Your son may go to college, but knowing how to work is invaluable. Also your creating memories that will last him all his life. My father died when I was in my 30's, I'm 63 now and I wish everyday I could call him and ask his advice. Cherish these times with your son.

You were true to your word at the start when you said you were going to show everything, very detailed, excellent videos, reminds me when my own kids were young, I'd have them helping me working in the house, people over here thought it strange because they are 2 girls, but they loved it.
    Keep up the good work.

Excellent job with regard to proportions give to your layout and reveals. The overall job is turning out quite nicely thus far. My opinion as a finish carpenter of 30yrs, do not run that cove down the closet casing leg . It will look odd as that portion is wainscot territory. One, it will give an odd jog appearance and b. It isn’t on any of your other corners. Always defer to old world craftsmanship when in doubt . They had it down and we are always trying to reinvent things.

Love the videos and your work is amazing! Well done. Question: any reason to not use primed MDF for this project? Also, curious why you chose to butt joint the base. Is it because of the cove molding on top which would hide the miter or just preference?

I hope the no college remark was a joke. I finished college, paid for all of it myself without loans or grants. I went hungry a lot. I worked making cabinets, running a gang rip saw, running two molding machines, carving and setting grave stones, cooking in restaurants, framing houses, trimming trees, stretching fences, you name it, I did it. I graduated without any debt with a degree in industrial engineering. It took me a few extra years, I have a serious learning disability. No one ever helped me at all, except when my parents gave me $1,000 once. If I did it, anyone can go to college.

Shoe-moulding...love it when installing flooring but hate it when my dressers and bookcases won't sit tight to the wall. It's interesting that it almost takes as much time to trim a house as it does to build it.
