    Theocentric theology like this is nowhere to be found in this postmodern world. If you believe this, you are among the few even in the church. And you might lose friends over this. But it is worth it at the end of the day. This way of thinking will make you a truely God centered worshipper.

    So then why is it that every preacher seems to want to use the name of the Lord for his/ her own glory? Is that not what it means to take the Lord’s name in vain?

    It’s fascinating that Dr. Piper didn’t actually quote from any passages in this video. It’s also fascinating that there isn’t a passage in the entire Bible that says God does everything for his glory. There also isn’t a passage that says humans were made for God’s glory. Paul saying that we should do things for God’s glory is entirely different from God creating us for His glory. Isaiah saying that Israel was created for God’s glory is also entirely different than saying God created everyone for God’s glory. To come to these conclusions, you have to make some radical jumps in logic.

      6 I will say to the north, Give up,
      and to the south, Do not withhold;
      bring my sons from afar
      and my daughters from the end of the earth,
      7 everyone who is called by my name,
      whom I formed and made.”
      The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Is 43:6-7.

      There are actually many many passages that support this view. In fact, this view has been believed by many great theologians down through church history. Worth looking into.
