Girlfriend yes! I completely relate to your 2nd tip about not bothering with the clutter of leaf tray propagations. I also just pop leaves under larger succulents either in pots or in the ground can that shade them. It’s actually really time consuming for me personally to have trays of leaves because they need more monitoring & due to a chronic illness I’m sometimes unwell for up to 5 days which can be the difference between life and death for some leaf propagations. Instantly subscribed after you said you did that with leaf props. 😁 If there’s an easier way to garden with succulents I’m all for it. 😊
Absolutely, a lot of us get into succulents because they’re meant to be easy! Glad you worked out a system that works for you and the level of maintenance you can provide. Some days you just gotta focus on looking after yourself 💕🌵
Just came across you, new subscriber from Melb. Fellow succulent lover here Love your garden and your approach I’m going to check out your other vids 🌵
Happy Spring from California USA. You have some great plants. I like your selections colors, textures, and clumping behaviors. You've motivated me to prepare my plants here for winter. Yay aeonium season.
Hello Shy, I just love watching your beautiful succulents every time you do the video and I know spring time is coming in your place so it’s the best time to propagate succulents 👍
This is such a helpful guide for those of us who love succulents but don’t have a lot of time! I really appreciate how simple and effective your methods are. Thanks for sharing your expertise!😍
Hi Shy! Indoor succulent/cacti grower here! I have tried leaf propagation but it's like watching grass grow! And if I got babies I found them difficult to keep them alive. Your garden is coming along beautifully. I'm a big believer/user of cinnamon on junky cut stems.
@the.morning.chorus Yes! absolutely. I have a broken clay pot arrangement that I made when they were all the rage. I find it a great place to initially put the cuttings. When they get a little growth on them I'll transplant them out. I made a cacti arrangement last night with 3 different varieties. I thought about how watching your videos has made me stretch and visualize things diffently. The arrangement came out great...thanks Shy! ❤️
Another great garden update! We’re also gardening on the east coast of NSW. Favourite fast space fillers are Echeveria prolifica, Graptopetalum paraguayense and Aloe ‘Blue Elf’. The Blue elf is tricky to find - found one randomly in a Central Coast nursery - but once you have one you’ll have pups for your friends.
Echeveria Prolifica! I had this one back at my old apartment. Agreed it doubles very quickly. You are lucky to have found an Aloe Blue Elf! I've been looking for that for years because I love the colour. I've been using Aloe Mountain Gem as an alternative in arrangements. By the way I've started reading Modern Nature and I love it!
New subscriber here. Hello from Perth. I just found out your channel n enjoy watching all your succulent collections and can tell that you're really an avid gardener since you remember well all your plants. Envy your hard work and keep sharing useful tips abt succulents and cacti 👍
Wow! That's a lot of great info. I'd love to do so much better with succulents indoors. Even in northern Minnesota, there are succulents that do well outdoors.
Beautiful! I grow succulents indoors here in Canada but I’ve been thinking about doing a raised planter with cold-hardy succulents. We actually have some native cacti here in Alberta. But there’s not a lot of options (zone 4a).
I must say I do have cactus 4 in total no 5 I love them along with succulents which I have many 😮there like sweets. But after finding you last week and watching you in your paradise garden I brought 6 more cactus 😵💫😵💫😵💫 ❤❤❤ I love a mixed plant garden yours is beautiful ❤
I find Jade to be a fast grower as well...bushes and fills out fast!!! And responds fantastically to cutting and resetting (your tip #1), sometimes too well LOL especially when all you have is a balcony!!!
beautiful garden ..but that veregated agave americana should go into a pot..i put one out in the ground and it grew so fast and gigantic..i have seen videos of people cutting them down..not easy ,big machinery is required. .glad you popped up in my algorithm
@@the.morning.chorus oh good ..just dont want you to be facing what we are facing in the near future..i mean how do you get rid of 8ft long leaves x 200??
Hi, question: how often do you water your succulents? I have some in pots, but I would like to place them on the ground. I have my sprinkler go off twice a week, would it kill the succulents if placed on ground? Please advise as you have experience. Thank you
Hey Lily, I’d only do twice-weekly watering in the warmer months, but it really depends on a whole bunch of factors, eg your climate (where you live, what season you’re in), are you gonna be planting them in well draining soil etc. I’m Sydney, equivalent to a US zone 10. I only water twice a week once we hit mid-Spring and only if it hasn’t been raining. If you really want to start embedding them in your landscape and think your succulents would be up for it, you could experiment with a couple of non-precious succulents to see how they go. But like I said, it’s really gonna depend on climate, season, soil etc. Good luck with it! I’d love to hear how you go!
Ugh, sounds like you'd got some tough ones! We're lucky most of the weeds here we can pull out by hand. The onion weeds take a little bit of digging though.

Oh thank you so much! I’m sad to put my Aeoniums to bed so please enjoy Aeonium season for me! 🌸
I totally relate to the satisfaction of getting the onion weed out with the bulb still attached! I love these tips for increasing plants, thank you.
It doesn't happen very often but when it does it's a total endorphin rush!

Definitely worth trying with indoor succulents 🙂 I admire those who can make it work!

I did not know that Canada has native cacti!! I just looked it up- quite a few opuntia. I love learning stuff like this! Thanks Mandy!

Yes, I forgot crassulas! Thank you for reminding me. Jades are so easy and definitely one for lazy propagating!
Hi, what is the cactus on the left at 13:21? Love your videos! Thankyou 🌵

Thank you! Don’t worry I don’t plan to keep the agave in there for long. It was struggling in a pot and I wanted to give it chance to bounce back.

@@the.morning.chorus thanks, just helps to know a little about your temps. I'm in WA so a bit hotter and dryer here.
I dont know how you get rid of weed. When I try to dig with a spade I jump on it like a kangoroo but the spade wont get trough the weedroots.
Ugh, sounds like you'd got some tough ones! We're lucky most of the weeds here we can pull out by hand. The onion weeds take a little bit of digging though.
@@the.morning.chorus That why I was so astonished. It seems to be so easy to remove. We dont got that in Sweden.
