“You Can Always Come Home” is just a remix of “Home” And ironically, After you spare Toriel in UT she tells you not to return to the RUINS, which is basically home.
People often point out that "Home" is in a weird time/out of time, so it has a cozy feeling but doesn't QUITE feel right, akin to how Toriel makes the Ruins welcoming for Frisk but it's not where they belong. Compare how YCACH is smooth and on rhythm for the whole song and shared Leitmotif, because Kris is and wants to be part of the Dreemurr family as much as they're welcomed in. Toby's mentioned that he apparently had concepts for Deltarune as far back as 2012 and pre-dating Undertale, which makes me wonder which came "first" in this particular musical aspect.
I was the same playing Deltarune for the first time - enjoying myself but not knowing what the heck was going on. But when the Once Upon a Time leitmotif kicked in at the end of Beginning, it reminded me that this is a Toby Fox game, and all will be revealed in the end.
*"Hip Shop"* contains *"It's Raining Somewhere Else"* Also, *"Susie"*, *"Versus Susie"* and *"Imminent Death"* have an intro sequence of *"Your Best Nightmare"*
Fun fact: The main melody of Before the Story is actually a deeper version of Premonition (The music that plays when Sans asks you about Flowey), which is a calm piano version of Your Best Nightmere I know there's a reason that Toby did that, I just can't figure out why
Given the track is called "Before the Story", a simple answer would be this song is an omen of what's to come. Once Upon A Time isn't the only extra song here; THE HOLY from Deltarune fades in and out of the background.
You can't say it for sure. Well yes, this was used in PS4 Undertale theme, but keep in mind that Deltarune was in the development since 2013, so you might be having things backwards.
I love that You Can Always Come Home has that little section from Once Upon a Time in the background, because that's also the driving melody in Hopes and Dreams. It shows that even though he's not here, you can't take memories of Asriel out of this place.

Aw man you should’ve saved this for anniversary. I’m glad to see this remake though, with all that’s been discovered. And don’t worry, I’m over the Gaster’s theme thing. Hopefully. Well maybe Scar- 2:43 Thanks for noticing that.
I knew you'd have Kris tearing up during Beginning and You Can Always Come Home! That's what you did for the Delta Rune in the original version. Plus, those two songs do have some nostalgic vibes, especially the latter song!
So nice to see another one of your videos again. It feels like it’s been forever since you’ve posted. I loved the little touches at the beginning of the video like Kris’s tear during Beginning and the quick flash of Toriel hugging Frisk when she hugged Kris were the only ones I saw but if there were they were probably amazing. Great job on this video and good luck on the next video.
I still think the "Companionship Theme" and "Once Upon a Time" section 2 are related: (the following is transcribed to be more clear) 4 notes (GGGG)(CCAG), this: (FEF), then (GCG)(GE[EbD]C) (both go up them down), repeat 4 notes and (FEF) (with minor variations, (FGA) in once upon a time) last section is completely diffrent though. and the first of the 4 notes is spaced diffrent in OUaT.
8:06 if you count rhythm only, you could technically even include Premonition. To be fair it can be hard to notice since Premonition takes up four bars per time the motif is played, whereas in Before The Story the initial piano motif only takes on two bars. The fact that the last notes on each Premonition motive are polyphonic adds to that.
Whatever 'companionship theme' means, I mostly recognize is as something that appears in Hopes and Dreams/Save the World a few times, the wiki lists it as the 'Dreams' leitmotif
I am quite certain Card Castle has the base notes of Once Upon a Time: section 2 (reharmonized to fit Card Castle's more ominous tone) at 30 seconds in
Of course quiet autumn has the tune of quiet water in it, just look at the name, also imma call it the quiet leitmotif because both songs have the word “quiet” in them

To make the comparisons more clean, maybe you could compare the scores or some slight differences? something along those lines, it's definitely difficult to make a direct comparison with many of these, a visual display may assist in some way I think.

@@kateymclatey1891 before the story
You forgot vs. Susie, there's an omega flowey letmotif that idk how you missed
You forgot Imminent Death. I am gonna go to your CH2 video and tell you about Giga Size and Digital Roots
The opening notes of "Before the Story" are from "Premonition" in Undertale.
Deltarune is now nostalgic as heck, i cannot believe it's already one year old
Update: five
Not yet
I agree with this
I KNOW IT'S NOT EVEN A FULL GAME AND IT GIVES ME NOSTALGIA
Undertale is 5 years old
@@lemonadesnake i said Deltarune
“You Can Always Come Home” is just a remix of “Home”
And ironically,
After you spare Toriel in UT she tells you not to return to the RUINS, which is basically home.
DELTARUNE: you can always come home
Undertale: well yes but actually no
wait
I Feel Like That's Intentional?? Knowing Toby, I Wouldn't Doubt It

*"Hip Shop"* contains *"It's Raining Somewhere Else"*
Also, *"Susie"*, *"Versus Susie"* and *"Imminent Death"* have an intro sequence of *"Your Best Nightmare"*
you mean sans theme, or just the orginal bits of IRSE?
Where?
edit: nvm, I hear it on the piano I think. I don't think it's intentional, it's only the first two "bits" on the piano.
And the "Susie joined for real" theme is the beginning of Snowdin Town, which is Sans' theme
@@FelipeSouza-gb7yf woah woah woah, slow down there, buddy.
the first bit of Snowdin Town is Sans' theme?
yea
Fun fact: The main melody of Before the Story is actually a deeper version of Premonition (The music that plays when Sans asks you about Flowey), which is a calm piano version of Your Best Nightmere
I know there's a reason that Toby did that, I just can't figure out why
Sans has a Premonition about Flowey, whose track is Your Best Nightmare, and Flowey was there Before the Story
Your best nightmare is also a more intimidating leitmotif of once upon a time tho
Given the track is called "Before the Story", a simple answer would be this song is an omen of what's to come. Once Upon A Time isn't the only extra song here; THE HOLY from Deltarune fades in and out of the background.
Doesn't it also play in the redacted room?

It's literally just a different version of premonition from UT I think

Haha thanks, and yeah, I plan to do the Don't Forget motif for the anniversary.
I still hear Gaster’s Theme in The World Revolving
Melissa Ardon There’s similar parts but it’s up in the air for now.
Wait..your from all the salots.....the comments....most were yours.......the..real legend....
Deltarune feels like going back home and realizing that everything has changed. But at the same time noticing how much is the same.

god damn, that 'once upon a time' lietmotif at the begining gets me every single time man
My goodness when Before the story began playing that nolstagia really kicked in. I speedrun deltarune so I listen to this song quite a bit.

I love how for example ‘beginning’ and ‘before the story’ have parts of ‘once upon a time’ in them
The World Revolving contains Gaster(ish) theme on it
Basically everything contains "Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark" at the end ;v;
* You lay down in your bed
* You think you caught a glimpse of something in the corner of your eye
* It was just your imagination. . .
With all of the Undertale leitmotifs, it makes me wonder if it's just there to make people nostalgic, or if it will have some kind of relevance later.
Probably the first one
You know, I thought I could hear a broken part of Undertale in Susie. I even tested it and Im pretty sure I can hear it at the 3rd guitar riff.
I think it has "You Idiot" in it. (flowey's "evil" theme)
Imminent Death has Your Best Nightmare
im not sure if its just me but im also hearing some "It's Raining Somewhere Else" on "Before the Story"
fun fact: before the story is the ps4 background music when you put on the undertale theme
I have it its beautiful
@@peyb0ne305 yes it is, i had since undertale came out of ps4

There's part of the don't forget in Snowdin town

It's name just fits perfectly. It was made "before the story"
Not really since Deltarune started being developed before Undertale
8:08 guys who knew that because of afk ing?
is it just me or does the beginning of before the story kinda sound like premonition
just seeing when deltarune chapter 1 release makes me feel old
Wait, You Can Always Come Home had the fireplace sound? i forgot xD
Nah, I added it for ambience.
Beginning has the nostalgia of the first ost in undertale. Maybe thats why Kris shed a tear in the beginning
First Frisk, after Kris.

whats really ironic about companionship theme in school is that in school, no-one wants to be your companion in the project.
I swear rude buster has asgore’s theme in it
