Advice for everyone I'm a BMW tech and saudering is not recommended from BMW due to the resistance it adds. Can mess up the electrical system. BMW recommendeds crimps. I believe a lot of issues everyone is having is due to them saudering the wires. Also you need to add a wire to pin hole #5 and splice to #6

@MoTz_50 you can just use bimmercode to tell the car that it has different bulbs, so it will handle the current modulation differently. I just put it on the led setting.

My english is not so good sorry for that but..normally with oem xenon you have a adjuster on the wishbone for height control! you dont use that ? how do you adjust the height ? so that your light dont shine in the sky if you know what i mean.

What about the headlight washer? Automatic headlight range control? It's hard to imagine that this is allowed in the USA... without automatic regulation, everyone is blinded... you also need a different footwell module, at least the third model with xenon, otherwise the whole thing has to be coded! In my opinion this is not feasible.
@@alessiocaira6830 There’s a black wire that controls the high beams. You need to splice a wire with it and add it to a different spot on the wire harness. The coding has to be done with NCS Expert. You’ll need to add “$522” as a value to both the CAS and NFRM/FRM modules (some cars has FRM, others NFRM, same thing). If you search around on RUclips and E90 Bimmerpost there will be some tutorials.

I have a e87 are you sure all it takes is getting an extra earth wire and connecting it to the existing one already In the car for the xenons to work from halogen? Please confirm so I can actually do this myself rather than paying someone to retrofit for me
I am not sure about the E87 chassis, but I would assume it will be very similar! Check the wires going to your headlight, see if that is all identical to the one in the video.

Ok, good video because I put Xenon headlamp casings in my 2005 bmw x3 e83 that had halogens stock(removed halogen casing and put in xenon ones just like you did) and the xenon bulbs would not work due to the voltage/computer, any advice? I think the dealer can get them to work but not looking to spend a thousand to get them working, I don't understand how you got yours to work . Uploader let me know.

Who has flickering, on a start-up car, and on the ignition everything is ok - change the FRM unit to FRM II XE, he and code, (adding the option $522) This video only says which wire to throw for the low beam (although you also need to change the wires for the high beam) Good luck to everyone❤
Not all true.. theres more involved than just adding the 1 ground wire if you want the high beam shudder daytimes, halos and 3 led parking lights to work correctly. also if you dont add to the vdo in the FRM the headlights will just flicker when the cars running. just went thru all this..

@@forweb2842 I do NOT believe the Adaptive part of the light will work, which if in the UK / EU is a Legal requirement and the car will fail MOT if the Adaptive part doesn't work
@@Broxi_55 By 'adaptive' do you mean turning to the left and right with the steering or moving up and down upon start up? My 2010 E90 has halogens and the lights aim up and down upon start up. In UK any HID fitted lights are supposed to maintain a level beam to prevent dazzling oncoming road users. It's also an instant failure if you fit HID or LED bulbs to a car that didn't have them from the factory. According to the MOT regulations, that includes fitting an entire lamp unit, which in the case of my Defender which can have purpose built replacement 7" round LED lamps, is bloody annoying!

Desactivate the bulbs verification control with ncs expert coding

Yeah I had a friend that did this, should work no problem. Worst case might need to code it other than that should be plug and play.

Had to swap from FRM 2 (not compatible with FRM 2) with xenon, and went to FRM 3 and code it out definitely coding required atleast in my case

Everything will work, you just need the correct coding FRM II XE

Can I just use any brown ground wire instead? Like can I cut it out from a normal household wire???
Use the same wire so you don't have to worry about the connector at the end + different resistivty values.

It's very common on the E90. My headlights have aftermarket angel eye bulbs that make the inner angel eye shine brighter than the outer one!

I’m sure the flicker effect is due to the cold checks that bmws perform. Code them out and you should be good!
