So I bought the 9th edition Custodes Patrol Box and the current edition.
What list could I do for 1000 points and 1500 points ?
@Francisco.Figueiredo I’m not sure two CP are enough for 1500, maybe 1K. Just add all the stuff from them into Warhammer app and look at the pts to see your total. If you want a good 1500 list though - take my list at then end of the video, subtract 1 Venatari, 1 Warden unit with BC and add 1 squad of prosecutors. That will be 1500 sharp 🫡

What are your thoughts on allying canis rex?
Thank you very much! New to custodes and try to build my first army. I have a Watchers of Gate box (2022 custodes christmas box), it seems that I need another combat patrol box to build a 1000 army to learn how to play the game. My question is, is FW unit like venetri very important to custodes army? I won’t play a competitive game, can any unit replace FW thing venetari? (FW units are so expansive…) Also, how about the difficulty level of learning playing Custodes in comparing with Grey Knights? Never played warhammer table game before so have no idea of it. Both factions are appealing in aesthetics, but it seems that Grey Knights are cheaper in building an army. Thanks!
Hi! 1) You can build Custodes without FW, but the lists would (in current meta game) be weaker than if you had Caladius and Venatari. It’s ok for a beginner, I’d not worry about it especially since competitive playing is not your main goal. If you do decide to go tournament route - you can always get 3D printed models of similar designs which most TOs will be OK with.
2) Custodes are simpler to play, and the same cost to build if you are not buying FW. GK are harder army to learn, but extremely rewarding.
So this should be determined by your taste and heart alone, don’t worry so much about tactics and models as these things are temporary. Love for the faction isn’t 🤗

No, for sure you still need 6s on overwatch
I understand the venetari probably are only truly competitive when run eith the lances, but do you think the buckler and revolver are still useable and good at the new price point?
I think having one in the squad of 6 is not a bad idea, I’d not run bucklers in 3-mans as those are already thin on the punch
Question, do yall think 2 grav tanks and canis is too much shooting for a 2k list? Would you replace a tank with something else? Or just not take canis?
better to be overprepared wishing you brought less than to be underprepared and wish you brought more
Agreed, 2 tanks is definitely not too much. Custodes need breathing space to play well nowadays and that’s what Canis and tanks buy you

All provide different things but can only actually lead battleline, so custodian guard strictly.
Just a little noob question. The warden feel no pain ability. Is it for the whole enemy phase? Or just one shooting or one fight phase?
Yep, you activated it in the fight phase - that whole fight phase it’s active. Not the whole turn
I really would rather have Allarus. but that is probably just because I like terminators so much.. I am not sure about both draxus and the assassin. otherwise, pretty solid list and I've seen it work very well.
Love Allarus as well - can’t have enough of them, but they aren’t that strong for now unfortunately

I have a hard time buying Grav Tanks as I don't like how they look and they cost way too much compared to other tanks, that also look better. For 5 more points 2 Grav Tanks can be replaced with 1 Canis Rex (obviously not my original idea.. some people having been doing this for a little while as far as I know).
Anyone have an thoughts about how beneficial or detrimental it is to replace 2 Grav Tanks with 1 Canis Rex?
They are different things imho - 2 tanks are 2 units, can shoot at 2 targets, shooting profiles are also different, tanks don’t have melee. I’d go for tanks for one simple reason - don’t put your eggs in one baskets, but Canis Rex is still very good
@@vfminiatures Exactly this. I don't like the look of the tanks either, wish GW would do non forge world ones, (sadly don't see that happening). But as explained above.
Man I don't have any of the vehicles except some dreadnaughts, I don't have any sisters of silence, and I don't have any venatari. Looks like I'm just going to be running my jank 9th edition list with allarus and jetbikes
Yeah, I won’t lie - it’s bad for us who have traditional 9th edition armies. All I can recommend is perhaps using allied knights if you have them, and wait for rules changes. You can also run all infantry but you’ll need to be an absolute master of a player to compete with that without Venatari, Canis or Caladius
@@vfminiatures yeah it's a real shame I don't think I can afford them. I have mechanicus but I also think that my mechanicus list is whack as hell. And furthermore I have harlequins which aren't even a real thing anymore so I don't even know if I'm going to play this edition even though I want to
@wesley6942 man, I fully feel your frustration🫡 I can only suggest going 3rd party and buying Caladius from Etsy. That will make it about 2x cheaper. You can probably do even better if you have a friend with a 3D printer, or someone at a local gaming club. You can just pay them for their time and resin, it will probably be even better than 2x
it's a shame. your list will still perform well... but might not be top tier competitive. but if you aren't running in a GT then it doesn't matter all that much.

We don’t have Caladius yet unfortunately, 3 are being painted up now. And she writes her own lists 💪

Yeah can't afford grav tanks or FW infantry , and l already have more models then l can use (30 guards , 18 wardens) in a normal game. I wish GW fixed jet bike and dreadnoughts (m6"¿¿¿) instead of making FW obligatory. Same with Draxus, Canis et . Stores can't order those things and l am not buying a box of eldar infantry and two different SCE boxes to make one character. I love the detachment and MW changes, they are great, but the need gkr fw and non custodes units is just stupid. Also fix Trajan.
On thing I can suggest is to buy grav tanks from Etsy, not FW. You’ll pay more than 2x less. Otherwise, I totally agree - GW has been very unkind to a lot of our normal units (bikes especially)

2 or 3 grab tanks unlikely to be in the meta. Put my money on all infantry.
I’d politely disagree - Caladius have been good in some fashion since 8th, they always come back. They may get nerfed in 10th, but we’ll see them back eventually
Oh i’m not saying it’s bad at all. It’s great. All i’m saying is after 20th june update it’s going to be mostly shield host and mostly infantry builds i think. Because crits on 5s are just too good
