CT, your videos and your channel inspire me to get into restoring classic cars. Because of you, I even bought my own 71’ beetle and I’ve never been happier. Thanks, CT. Love from California ✌️
I graduated in 84 and went to buy a Fiero soon after but I got distracted by a used Trans Am that had just been traded in. Great videos. I look forward to every new one each week.
I freaking love Fiero’s. That is definitely a bucket list car for me! I bet I would be the coolest 50 year old guy in East Texas driving one of those around town!!!!
Oh I remember those lugnuts from when I was a mechanic. That tires gonna have a flat spot 😁 That wasn’t a bad price for a set of tires Shouldn’t have ate the croissant 😂 That’s a cool winch!!! I need to come down for a visit and go on a rescue with you. That would be fun.
My first thought was - hopefully no snakes in there ! It's a nice mid engine coupe , CT. I always liked those pop up headlights. I've got on my car wheel locks too but I always choose a torck wrench to tighten up. So much efforts to get this thing out .Would liked to help you CT but it's a little distance between us. 🙂
Nice job CT! Thought on a future episode, give us a rundown on all the vehicles you've had episodes with and give us an update. I know you've sold some of the 914's, but would be interesting to know what happened to them all. Or some of the back stories on them, for instance, I haven't seen anything on the origin of the black Karmen Ghia. Thanks much!
Thanks buddy! Yes, I should do update video....I have a few come and go. Still have the 1967 Karmann Ghia. It's in black primer waiting for body work to continue. Maybe when it cools of in the fall. It is way too hot now.
Excellent video CT :) yes other cars made with Engine & Transmission on back was Chevrolet Corviar in 1960's bit bigger than the Pontiac Ferio were and rare too some people still have them ! It amazing me I seen all years made in Pontiac Ferio they used lots Engine from 4 to 6 cylinders ones plus lots options too get with and seeing at my local Vehicles show in over years!
Hi CT, just starting to watch this series. Got thru the first wash and looking forward to the first start video later tonight. No nothing about these cars but like that it's a rear engine like the corvairs except mid rear more like the Porsche.
I have a 1986 Fiero SE with the V6, and 4 speed manual transmission. Red, 2 tone silver interior. Fully loaded purchased the car new in June of 86. I was 26 then. It was a super fun car, pretty quick, and handles fantastic. It has 286.000 miles on it and still runs great. Lifelong Southern California car has kept it in excellent shape. About 3 weeks after I bought it I was pulled over by a cop, lights flashing and all..im thinking what have i done? He comes up to my window and says, I pulled you over because I'm thinking of getting one of these and was wondering how you like it !!!😅
I was surprised when I did some research to find there is following for them. They are still out there and you can pick up a good one pretty cheap. Just need a few mods to get them going nice.
My father had a Fiero GT when I was in Middle School. Awesome sporty little car. However it got totaled by a Ford Bronco that ran over the front of it by turning left from a right hand lane. Great looking cars, something Pontiac should have tried to keep going in my opinion. Cost effectiveness and the popularity of the Firebird kinda killed this thing. Good luck getting this one going!
Glad you got this car I passed on it when i learned how hard it was to get out of barn. I was just going to part it. I have a full set of brakes for a 84 if you want a shot at them to rebuild. Wiring on the 84 cars are unique to 84 make sure to get the correct wiring diagram. There are some parts that are 84 only but the gm parts bin is in full effect on these. Upgrades can come from a bunch of other gm cars of the era.
@@CTmoog get a trottle body rebuild kit and dip it in carb cleaner. The fuel injector almost never dies if you get spark it should spray gas. Fun fact about the 84 it can idle and run with out the ecu. The ignition control module sets base timing and a 500 rpm idle. The ecu only advances timing and how long the fuel injector opens. Don't smash the column lock the switches to turn the car are on the column, The lock pushes a rod and makes the contacts happen down on the outside of the column. Be ready when the motor fires over it will jump to about 3000 rpm for the first time till the idle sensor kicks in. That can take a min or a short dive to get it to idle. My method is to jam my thumb down into the idle air passage blocking air flow, tricking the car to try and learn min idle speed. First I would make sure it turns freely, then change the oil before the first fire attempt. A bunch of 84 cars have weak con rods so you really want to be sure they are getting oil. Also check the battery cables, on 84 all the fusible links are on the starter positive lug.
Bought a 1984 Fiero new, great little car but lacking power (like most cars in that era). The body is actually plastic, not fiberglass and the 4-cylinder engine is the GM “Iron Duke” which is known for its durability and reliability. Good luck!
Popcorn. Check. Soda. Check. Comfy chair. Check. Ok, now I'm ready for the "DO YOU EVER FINISH A PROJECT????" comments. Don't let em get you down, buddy.
I had a red ‘84 Pontiac Fiero 2M4 2.5 with an automatic. It was ultra sporty back in ‘88, but it was slow. Turn on the air conditioning … and it was even slower! Those were a conglomeration from the GM parts b department: Chevette front steering and suspension and the engine and transmission cradle from a front wheel drive Oldsmobile Omega, turned backward and the Omega transmission reworked to become rear wheel drive (so you didn’t have 4 reverse gears and one forward speed)! Non Fiero specific mechanical parts should be easy to find but trim and upholstery will need to be sourced from Fiero parts specialist and likely won’t be as cheap. Try contacting a GM dealer. Sometimes, with proof of ownership (the title) and the VIN, they might have access to the original key codes and might be able to cut you a key; some manufacturers have that info and some do not or, if the ignition was ever rekeyed, it wouldn’t work out.
I could not understand why the keys are always missing from cars that don't run. It's always entertaining watching you drag these cars home, making basket kits, but I hope you label and store the parts properly for the next guy.
The Body Panels are Plastic, not fiberglass. If damaged, you were supposed to go down to your local Pontiac Dealer and buy new Panels and bolt them on...

Thanks for the info. I ordered a replacement key for now but it would be nice to have the factory key to match everything.
Body panels are non-fiberglass composites of various compounds. Basically, plastics.
Can be fixed with j and B weld. But yea they get crumbly if they are in the sun. I think this one might be OK since it was in the jungle garage.
