The Apache, Kiowa and Chinook together is going to be unbelievably epic. All we need is an overhaul of the ground units.
...and the Afghanistan and/or Iraq maps. 😉
@@shagrat47 honestly tired of the desert maps, want more european or even pacific maps
@@l.a.xgunner Afghanistan is not necessarily desert. Pretty awesome map imo.
Don't expect much from dcs.sadly they care about nothing but new modules. The game is the same for 10 years, The animatronics in Disney are better then anything in dcs.
Someone forgot to mention the Army's workhorse the Blackhawk.
Pretty sure ED will (finally) add stingers to the Apache, before they allow the Kiowa to release...
anyone else excited to have the the chinook Apache and Kiowa work together for missions this year, i cant wait to see what the multiplayer mission designers come up with
With the Kiowa, Apache and now the community mod OH-6, Casmo can recreate missions from the greatest helicopter movie ever made, Firebirds.
i am the greatest i am the greatest I AM THE GREATEST
Needs his air to air rockets used against other helicopters
@TomP-148 well apatche heilcopters can carry air to air to shoot enemy heils as well as jets. Although the best American attack helicopter for air defence is the
ah 1z viper which has better air to air missles then apatche and can even shoot down fast moving jets
@CasmoTV, stingers on the OH-58D were originally used against boats during Prime Chance. We'd also practice with the CFT on cars as they'd lock up pretty well on them and I always wondered how they'd work against technicals but we never took them with us in the box.
I missed the hours days of ATAS. only carried them at Rucker.
It is interesting to see a characteristic that is commmon in all of the tutorials you showed so far: the Kiowa is ready to go. Click here, press that, and boom, you are ready. It is not "Gucci", not super complex, no need to fiddle around pages, just look here, do that and go! Looking forward to its release.
That’s how the army builds things, with common sense unlike the Air Force.
*laughs in Boeing*
Someone got PTSD from flying the Hornet🤣
@@toddw6716 You should really try the US Army AH-64D Apache... 😂
But, but... the Apache is a Hughes aircraft.
Honestly youve sold me on the Kiowa, learning about it from someone who flew one in combat is such a cool experience and im glad youve shared your knowledge with us :)
Those look handy! Give the AH-64's some air cover. Thanks for the video!
ohhh man, looking so much forward to the KW.... can´t wait. Thanks for all the videos, mate!
Having stingers automatically makes it better than the Apache.
Yes I know the Apache can carry them too, just not in DCS. That's what I'm talking about.
you are right !
No, the AH-64D canNOT equip the Stingers, neither in DCS, nor in real life, because the rails on the wingtips were removed and sensors attached... which is pretty obvious if you compare the typical "I got proof photo (trial on AH-64A) to the actual AH-64D. 😉
...and it only helps with airquake, not realistic missions, where the AFAC Helicopter shouldn't really go hunting aircraft, just saying. 😇
@@shagrat47 What if they were to place the stingers on the pylons like the Ah-64E that’s how they use them.
@@masongros7319we don’t have an ah64e in dcs we have the Ah64d
So the video page sounds cool I didn't know you could do that. Might be super helpful in vr because it's not that clear with my settings.
hello, i want to ask how the sound called in the outro??? the 80 sync ... :D by the way nice video
Kiowas > Apaches in DCS
Wonder how long itll take for servers to restrict it haha. then we take the hellfire A2A.. because why not...
Love the tutorials for this thing. Really excited to hop into the best looking helicopter soon.
I was half expecting the Mi26 to get upset with you for the first Stinger!! Must of hit it somewhere vital, normally they shrug off damage...
Did you ever fly with the stinger onboard?
A little. Not live
Can you mix stingers with 50 cal and hellfires or is it like the Gazelle, where if you take Mistrals, you can’t mount anything else ? Thanks
Mix and match.
looks like the stingers do more damage than the igals on the blackshark do from that video
This is looking so good.
Polychop made the right decision to take extra time and present the Kiowa invrhe fullest most complete state possible.
Bravo.
Good video, but it made me curious...can the KW carry asymmetric stores? Can you mount the fifty on one side, and Stingers on the other? Inquiring minds want to know! 🤔
Yes
Questions for my curiosity ; very familiar with Stinger MANPAD and Bradley Linebacker setups. With the MANPAD we used a battery coolant unit that gave power and about 45 seconds of argon to cool the seeker head. Linebacker used bottles of argon stored in the launcher pod. I imagine that the Kiowa had a bottle strapped to the launcher assembly too? Does the game simulate the supply of argon? You can’t just fly around with a cooled, uncaged seeker head for more than a few minutes? Thanks.
Can’t say.
When you were talking about detents, does the fire button on the KW have detents? I only ask because I thought in a previous video I heard you say that the red trigger on the front of the cyclic is actually the com switch for talking on the radios and intercom.
Yes to all
@@CasmoTV ah okay so in a DCS environment where the only control input some of us may have that has two detents is the front trigger, we may need to change things up a bit with the bindings to get two stage pulls. IE, move the PTT to another bind, fire button goes to the front trigger for dual stage capabilities.
The H-60 has a similar setup on its own cyclics, up for out and down for in if my memory serves.
Its going to be good to have these, while doing the look an laze job but also be called on to keep our AH 64 missile truck alive
I wish someone made Bell AH-1 Cobra. I am surprised no one made this iconic helicopter a module and no one is talking about it
😊👍
we need this missile in Apache
Except it never flew with them in combat. US helicopters only operate in areas with dominated airspace. So it was deemed unnecessary to A2A missiles on a helicopter designed to kill tanks.
@@ImpendingJoker british and North Korea had air to air missles on there apatche. Also the Ah 1z has better air to air missles in America on a heil
what variant/block of stinger does it come with?
They said two weeks a week and a half ago!
Yes… what’s your point
@@CasmoTV My point is that I have ZERO patience! Thanks for the vids!
It’ll be worth the wait.
@@CasmoTV Fed-ex should be here within the hour with my new rudder pedals. My first set!!! My intuition was telling me Tuesday was the day.
@@tenToesUp747 we shall see, youngling.
Are the smoke grenades on the dash an option you can decide to use if you want them? Iv seen so many videos of real kiowas with like 10 smokes on the dash but they're missing in DCS :(
Yes they are there
Safe on the ground? Is there a weight on skids switch?
Yes
As an past air defender, I will always super elevate when firing a stinger. It was just beat into me.
What does it actually mean/do?
@@jubuttib super elevate just means point the launcher up once you got tone. Like Casmo said, it helps the missile avoid obstacles. If you notice during videos of Ukrainians firing MANPADS, they are always on the wood line or somewhere hidden.
@@Dionysus2009 Gotcha, thanks! I knew you were supposed to point it up at least a bit regardless, was wondering if the "super elevation" was to make sure that the missile doesn't hit the ground if there's a slight delay between it getting pushed out of the tube and the main rocket motor lighting up.
@@jubuttib yeah that's the main reason. That's why you don't really need to do it in the Kiowa.
@@Dionysus2009 Thanks for the confirmation. Always been interested in how those are to work with, and only got to fire a LAW a couple of times irl. =)
Actually now that I've got you here, how does the lockup process work on a shoulder fired stinger? Do they uncage automatically or do they stay caged? Are there more buttons than just the launch one to use?
In addition to DCS I also like playing ArmA, and it always annoys me how the heatseekers there take like 5+ seconds to lock up, clearly not based on the real ones...
Great video, what’s the range on these stingers
They are not long range they are good to like 4km I think 2miles give or take.
can that Acog m4 been used?
Yes
Bit confused at the end, I thought we were 2 weeks out like 2 weeks ago?'
Didn’t make this video today.
@@CasmoTV Ah okay that's what I was hoping that meant, all good 🫡
Great Video M8... Thanks again for everything...
Growling Stinger intensifies. Other pilots were weary with the Gaz potentially carrying Mistrals, now they have to worry about KWs with Stingers.
Looks like using these is nice and straight forward, and can even get help from the video feed, nice.
The power of the missiles is hard to judge, when DCS' AI helicopter damage model is so wonky right now. I've had AI Hips take 4 Sidewinders and shrug it off, and I've put 4 Iglas and 7 Vikhrs into a Ka-27 before it fell... =)
Thanks Casmo, another great vid. Thank you sir, seriously looking forward to this one coming out.
Another great video, thnx - so many in one week! 😎
Great video as always
Thank you
