Thanks! I was given a 97 today to replace mine that has an error after 30 seconds. The "new" one had no backlight. Replaced that cap and it has a beautiful backlight now. That transistor was getting hot like you showed.
ciao posso chiederti alcune info in merito alla riparzione della backlight? ho cambiato il c1302 e ora funziona , ma la luce è molto debole? sai quale tensione ci dovrebbe essere sul pannello el ?
congratulations for the video, i also have a pm97, the backlight worked very dim for a few seconds then turned off. i changed the c1302 now it is always weak, and in addition there is a slight hiss from the t1301. the ev panel broken? advice to solve? thank you
Hello, excellent work, thank you very much.I have a fluke 97 with low display illumination. Does this work that you carried out include the change of the screen?
No, the screen was not changed. I did purchase an EV panel but ended up not using it. The only part replaced was the capacitor. Thanks for the comment.
Hello . I see your video about the repair fluke 97 backlight and learn very effect . Anyway, I have fluke 179 with green backlight.🤢 I want change backlight to white or sky blue backlight but I don’t know how do that work? Do I just have to change only led or change other part like as resistor or capacitor or … ? Please to guide me 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. Sorry about if i don’t speak English very well because I’m kurdish. Thanks 😎. Good job 👍🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🌹
I don't own a Fluke 179 so I can't comment on the feasibility of changing the backlight. I'd make sure I had a really good understanding of how the backlight function works and how it interacts with the microprocessor before I started working up a redesign. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you for this video. I have a 96 type with very dim backlight. The backlight voltage is about 70 volts. You made a note saying it should be around 100 Volts. Is this correct? I couldn't find any voltage information. The supply voltage for the oscillator is around 7 volts; could that be ok?
I don’t remember if I measured the HV out to the EL panel. The manual talks about the converter output as it approaches 100V the voltage feedback will cause the output to dampen thereby creating a limiting effect for the HV output. 7 volts for the supply sounds correct as the whole unit runs from a lithium battery pack.
I’m not familiar with that particular instrument but I’d start by looking for service information. If you can find a service manual or schematics you’re on easy street. Otherwise you’ll have to spend some time analyzing the internals. Component data sheets for discrete parts like ICs used in the instrument are also helpful. Good luck!
I found it online. I believe it is a combined Fluke 93/95/97 service manual. You'll have to read through it for your specific instrument. Thanks for the question!

thank you for the this, the steps and terminology I learned here will help me on many circuits repairs.
Thank you !!!! With your lesson i have repaired my fluke 97 with the same problem !! I'm very happy and thank you again !!!!!
Glad to help. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the detailed walk through of the repair. I have a pair of 97's with bad backlights that I need to look into.
Excellent troubleshooting and repair.
Great job! You should change all four of those capacitors!
I Have this problem, but now is more easy for repair, Thanks
Amazing work!
Keep up the great videos!
👌👌👌👌
Nice one. On mine the hundred microfarad 16 volt capacitor was leaking. it leaked all over I had to repair the traces .
Thank you ,very helpful.
very good,keep posting

Do you have electicle drawings?
Thanks

@@FreeElectron Hi my Fluke 97 display is faint, any idea?
Any help will be appreciate.
Thanks in Advance.

may i ask where you purchased your backlight ?
Nice video !
I am looking for solution for fluke linkrunner AT-1000. Backlight is dead... can you help with some advise ?

Could you write where did you buy the EL foil? Thanks!
I got it from sparkfun, www.sparkfun.com.
Hi! Where I can find the schematic for the fluke 97 scope?
I found it online. I believe it is a combined Fluke 93/95/97 service manual. You'll have to read through it for your specific instrument. Thanks for the question!
