    I read a few years ago. The reason they don’t Criss cross the cylinder bolts is because the case half’s is split down the center. Applying equal pressure to the left side and then the right side. My guess is so the cases don’t try to twist..

    Hello Mike, I've truly enjoyed each of your videos on this Evo rebuild. Back about 20 years ago I made some big changes to a 1987 FXST, I started with 10 over Wiseco Pistons, S&S Heads, S&S Super E carb, Andrews EV27 cam, Jims Lifters, Riveria push rods, Dynatec Single fire dual coil ignition, Timkin Inner Cam bearing and Cycle Shack 40" long drag pipes with AR Cones. I now have a 1999 FXSTC and I'm looking to do some Juggs and Slugs changes with all the fun stuff to be included. I'm leaning towards a ThunderJet Kit for my S&S Super E this time. I'll be going with a SuperTrapp 2-into-1 Supermeg Exhaust System as well. Thanks for posting all of your great video clips. Keep the shiny side up.

    Great job Mike, I like putting a little bit of oil on the bottom of the flanged portion of the head bolt to eliminate any friction lost from the two mating surfaces. Just my own methodology....

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  3 года назад

      Okay. I have a thing about wanting things to stick with their own friction. Maybe right, maybe wrong. I think we might need to ask Porsche on this one. Second thought, after blowing those nuts out and wiping them, there's still probably a very light film on those flanges. So, maybe you got something there.

    • @kennethwise7108
      @kennethwise7108 3 года назад

      @@pacificmike9501 as a Marine Machinery Mechanic and qualified to work on nuclear Submarines we are required to do that on the mating surfaces on everything for accurate torque output. This even gets witnessed with a QA representative. I think you did a great job on your torque. We literally have to "exercise" our torque wrenches 5 times at an undisclosed torque percentage with a socket that is welded to the workbench to provide torque wrench accuracy. We also are required to utilize 5 torque sequences until final torque is obtained. Yeah.....

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  2 года назад

      No. It's just that Evo, that long nut has a closed end. Trapping oil in it will give a false torque reading. A little lube on the threads will be present from soaking those nuts, then blowing them out.

    fancy stuff. I use the pain in my knuckle as a torque indicator. CAT screaming means you are over tightening.Just remember to use lube under the heads of the bolts or nuts to ensure no binding. I use air ratchet when working on junk and give it a good yank after the wrench starts hissing. I worked at a dealership where flatrate was king. CAT is nodding in agreement or maybe he snorted some heroin. .
