Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - Four-Player Bob-Omb Blast Battle Mode

- This is a capture of me and three friends playing the Bob-omb Blast Battle Mode in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! for the GameCube. This was recorded directly from my GameCube (not the Wii) in progressive scan mode. I'm player one, Luke is player two, Drew is player three, and Peter is player four.
The standard Balloon Battle in this game isn't as fun as the battle mode in Mario Kart 64 or Super Mario Kart. The Bob-omb Blast mode, on the other hand, is incredible. It's so fast-paced and chaotic that I never bother playing Balloon Battle with friends (they don't care for that mode either). We always default to Bob-omb Blast.
Luke and I used to play this mode all the time at his house with his brother and typically another friend or family member. Many hours were spent on this mode back in 2003 or so. It was a lot of fun.
There were no teams here. It was every man for himself.
Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the GameCube's component cables.
This was the BEST mario kart gametype. They need to bring this back.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I absolutely despise how both Balloon Battle and Bob-Omb Blast are completely identical, minus Bob-Ombs being the only item to appear.
How one game brought back an entire battle mode 14 years later.
I wish Bob-Omb Blast was playable in LAN Mode so that you could have EIGHT(8) colorful teams of Bob-Ombs, that would have been sick as heck, lol.
The BEST battle mode ever. Hands down. And the best stage to play this in is Pipe Plaza. Fucking hell Nintendo bring this back!
I loved all of the Battle Modes, but Bob-Omb Blast was a neat concept.

While Mario Kart 8 is my favorite Mario Kart installment, I'm not going to lie, it had the worst battle mode. Whenever my friends and I want to play Mario Kart's battle mode, I'll pull out either Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart Super Circuit, but this is the battle mode that we played on the most.

@@Mr.Face222 True, but I hated how they gave a step backwards on Balloon Battle by making it purely point-based rather than combining it with survival mode unlike MK8 for WiiU :(
Being my most favorite Mario Kart game installment while having the worst battle mode is what I would say to Mario Kart Wii.
(Although I do have a softer/smaller dislike for Wii's battle mode now, since i've gotten used to it over the decade as time passed on)

I REALLY wish to play this mode again with 4 Players. But sadly almost everyone around me has no interest in this game anymore.

Best option we've got is by changing the items spawned in later games. ._. I accidentally did that in MK7.

I played a lot this mario Kart game, I played with my cousin to these battles, we played most of the time in the castle because it was my favorite place in the game hahahaha, greetings.
This is easily the best battle game in the Mario Kart series and Luigi's mansion was the best one to play on. My sister used to REKT me on this game but I still loved it.

Ahh so many memories with this Mario bros game this from my mid 20's whenever I would visit my parents home I would play this with my then 10 yr old sister. block city and Luigi's mansion were my favorite battle stages.

No. I don't recall if this game runs at 60 fps in four-player splitscreen mode.
As far as I know the framerate drops in 4 player mode
On the Tilt-A-Kart battle stage, did you guys had to tilt your controllers to move or use the regular driving controls?
GameCube controllers don't have tilt/motion controls. The stage tilts randomly on its own.
