Super Mario Kart - Two-Player Battle Mode (Actual SNES Capture)

- This is a capture of me and a friend playing the battle mode in Super Mario Kart for the SNES. This is not an emulator and was not played on the Wii or Wii U Virtual Console. This footage was recorded directly from my Super Nintendo using an actual Super Mario Kart cartridge. I'm player one (Luigi) and Drew is player two (Toad).
Drew and I decided to play battle mode once again, so here's some new 60 fps footage of that.
When I first played Super Mario Kart around 1992 or 1993, I played battle mode at another kid's house and instantly got addicted to the game. I wanted to keep playing that mode for hours on end. It's basically what got me into the Mario Kart series to begin with.
Back in the mid/late '90s my friend Drew and I had our own Super Nintendos, as well as our own copies of Super Mario Kart, which we played all the time. Even when we owned the same games, Drew and I typically didn't play competitively against each other in multiplayer games because of how lopsided the results could be.
Super Mario Kart was a notable exception because Drew could put up some fierce competition, even in the racing. Drew always joked that he couldn't seem to beat me at any games except for this one. For some reason, he just always kicked my ass, especially in battle mode.
In this video we once again battled it out across all four of the battle mode courses. We then had a tie-breaking fifth match, but I won't spoil the ending. I think we played a little better this time.
Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the official SNES S-video cable at 60 frames per second. I used a Toshiba model D-R550 DVD Recorder to upconvert the SNES's native 240p signal to 480i so that the Hauppauge could capture the console's audio/video signal.
We're using standard SNES controllers.

This was one of my fave parts of this game; so many awesome memories of playing with my sis and cousin and inventing our own rules (like clearing all the squares and not hitting each other, using feathers to jump outside the course, etc). Takes me right back!!!

I swear this was the hardest racing game I’ve ever played. It was so hard not to spin out and the race courses were difficult in a great way.

I like how in battle course 2 you can use the feather to jump into that water area, wish we had stuff like that in mk8d

I love how whenever Luigi wins, we get to see him celebrate for an eternity, but Toad gets like five seconds

No lie, Battle Course 3 is my FAV for any old and present battle tracks so far!
The course 3 one was so intense toad had just 1 balloon for a really long time lol

Toad and Koopa Troopa both have the best sounding engines.
The red shell is the best item in this mode
Yeah but I was a green shell sniper.
Because it's a homing attack, but is weaker than the green shell.
Green Shell bounces off the walls and can randomly hit anyone out of nowhere since it has no target. Red shell was like a "Homing Shell" that went dud if it hit any walls, but it pursued after the opponent if you ever had them in your sights.

Ich liebe dieses Spiel schon von Beginn an und das tue ich heute noch! Wie oben schon erwähnt, hab ich das Spiel und spiele es immer noch!

If this is not an emulator as u said, these capturing kind is awesome with sharpness! I wonder if u were using Composite 2 Component and/or HDMI 2 plug on capturing device 2 achieve this incredible quality from the original SNES source, boy! In fact is clean without any blur, only sharp graphics! I'm really very impressed with all I see!

Luv it deffo brings back memories many happy and one or two annoying like one in particular 42 seconds in when ya get a speed up mushroom arrrrggggghhh lol one my pet peeves with mario kart I've never understood why a speed up mushroom in a battle mode why oh why lol its like the ultimate middle finger from the game especially if they get a red shell great laffs still love this game alway will epic

My fiancé and I just recently purchased this for my SNES after 2+ years of trash talk saying we're gonna demolish the other. When work isn't kicking our butts, I'll video it and upload the official race with the loser conceding to the winner. Spoiler alert. She's not a gamer.

Press A+Down together, and you can PLACE a green shell like a banana peel
Played this with a buddy last weekend after not playing for 30 years. We werent as sharp but remembered the tricks. No disrespect to this video but these guys are terrible.
