Ive glad you cover the manga, it got me thinking about how the anime portrays Yami versus the manga.
The anime kinda plays Yami off as a Jotaro-Esque character with him not showing weakness or to much development. (Not counting other parts of JoJo). Yami is more of a goalpost and doesn’t interact with the other characters that well besides the usual cheerleader speeches
The one in the manga is still the goalpost to most of the characters but the fact he’s able to even joke around or voice his internal weaknesses like with not wanting to have his memories back to stay with yugi makes him seem like a much better and believable charachter. I can see why the group wouldn’t want him to leave more in the manga rather than the anime.
This is no diss towards the anime but the manga did both Yami and yugi so much more justice. Maybe because they had the added bonus with having the part where they didn’t duel to better flesh out the characters but they’re both good

I hate Kaiba. He is exactly why I hate "rivals" in shonen. Arrogant, rude, and ridiculously stubborn. Seriously, I hoped Manga Kaiba would be a lottke more likeable, but he is an even bigger douchbag than his anime counterpart. Also, his brother is more annoying in the manga, too.
With all due respect to Takahashi San, but why on earth did he treat Joey like crap half the time? I mean, between the anime and the manga, the Yugioh series loves to treat Joey like a punching bag.
The artwork looks fantastic. It just got better and better over the years.
This retrospective has been great. I cannot wait for the next part
