  • "The 100 Day Mustang" is a series of videos following Samantha Rock as she trains a wild mustang. She has 100 days to gentle and train a wild mustang for the Meeker Mustang Makeover on September 11, 2020 in Meeker, Colorado. This is Part Two of the series and is about touching and yielding hindquarters. There will be new parts added on regularly so you can follow along. Sam gives training tips throughout the series.

    I love watching you with this mare, that is the way I use to train horses 50 years ago as a young man. A horse gives their trust to you because you never hurt them and then they start looking to you for assurance. If you are calm then they know everything is OK. I always talked to my colts and gave them pats and rubs on the neck both when riding and on the ground. That really helped them get by that ole boogie monster that might eat a horse. :-) Our horses were all working stock for the ranch and after one season of working cattle they were bulletproof!

    Doesn’t yanking on the lead rope potentially damage their poll? Also I think I can see a scar on the right side of her abdomen maybe that’s why she’s a little flighty on that side of her body

    Another good day. You're making great progress. I really like the physical attributes of this mare and am anxious to see what kind of gait she has when she gets used to the saddle.

    Regarding spareparts... Here in Sweden its perfectly logical to bee a lil unpredictable😊

    Looks like a great day to be doing something with a horse. The bird's play by play at 13:00 + is interesting:)
