I just need to know your training costs 😂. I have a mare that would make a nice one with the right training shes been abusived previously and is just a nervous wreck. She rides but not the best. Shes been chiropracted, teeth floated, and leg xrays because she had some rough scars. I cant get her to set her head no matter what I do, unless you ask her to back up she throws it straight up. Im not sure what to do shes in a snaffle and I've trained multiple before.

Jacqueline, I remember watching your ride with Deo Volente using the garrocha pole, and I was so proud of you and my heart just swelled with joy. Tears are pouring down my face as I type. I am so sorry about your mum....such a huge loss. I remember the "first" time I watched one of your videos, the one in which you shared your faith and told us about your mum. I kept watching you because you are an awesome horsewoman, but more than that, I loved the light of Jesus that shines through you. I am so grateful that the Lord is close to the broken hearted and to those who mourn and He does give us a peace that the world cannot give. I know I will have to wait till heaven to meet you (I live in Europe) but you are my sister in Christ and I want to thank you for putting your heart on your sleeve and sharing your life with us. God Bless

I am so so sorry about your mom. I lost my mom to ovarian cancer in February. The pain of how much I miss her is really hard to put into words.
I followed yours and Will's journey last year, and I was excited to see this video posted. You did SUCH a nice job with him.
Guys, what she didn't mention is how high she placed in this competition, and how stiff that competition was. She got 3rd place only behind 2 incredibly well known and established industry professionals--Bobby Kerr and Dan James. Out of 50 people, many of whom are quite skilled and put forth good performances with their mustangs. That's incredibly impressive.

Honey, Your story is heartbreaking and at the same time inspiring. I’m so sorry about your mom. We lost our sweet granddaughter right before she turned 7 months old. While she’s in heaven along with your mom, they’re waiting for us to arrive, when the time for us has come. I love knowing that they’re there waiting to show us around. We don’t always know why things happen the way they do but God never makes mistakes. Picking Will and standing by him through the uncertainty shows your determination. I commented before but I watched this again and decided to comment again. Love helped Will grow and helped you heal. You sound like a fine person and I love the methods you use to gain trust from a horse that doesn’t understand humans. I trained horses for years myself before I had a serious neck and back issue. I’m 70 now but you take me back in time in the very best way. God bless you for giving a mustang an opportunity to live in a home where he’s loved so much. Great job!

You are so right though, it's wonderful to know that they are there, waiting for us...and how much happier they must be right now. But it doesn't make the pain of the loss any less. My heart hurts for you. Hugs xx

Inspirational work and wonderful life lessons. I'd be interested to read people's thoughts on the topic of hackamore rigs. Maybe I'm mistaken, but it looks to me like the trainer here is using a mechanical hackamore. As horse partners, is it realistic for us bypass the bit altogether and start an animal on a cross-under rig with the ultimate goal for horse and rider to work with the traditional bosal? Is it realistic to expect a horse already started and/or matured on a bit rig can be transitioned to a bosal rig? Are spurs unavoidable as a practical matter for training?

Gotta agree! I enjoy watching reining competitions except for this one thing. Many or most of those competitors carry their head more like a tracking hound than a horse except for the speed portions. Their performance is spectacular overall, but I've never been able to warm up to that part of it. It just seems so odd. On the other end of the spectrum... I rode a neighbor's Foxtrotter and that high bobbing head was exhausting to look at from the saddle. That just doesn't work for me. But Will was a pleasure to watch. Like a ranch horse, he put his head wherever it needed to be in the moment. When it looks natural, it's just more relaxing and fun to watch, but also exhilarating every moment I'd remind my self this is a mustang with 100 days. Wow!

The fact that a wildcaught mustang can stand totally still for a saddle in under ten days after barely being handled its entire life is absolute proof that there is no excuse for farm-bred ranch horses bucking and bolting and losing their minds the first time they're saddled and I will die on that hill. This is what real horsemanship is.
