Not only does he take down more mumakil than legolas, they give all of Eomer's best lines from the book to Theoden. Eomer is truly the Rodney dangerfield of Middle earth. He just gets no respect.
0:30 someone shout clearly "Hakkaa päälle!". It is finnish and meaning "Hack them all", famous battlecry of finnish light cavalry in 17th century, so famous that in 30 year war all germans feared that shout and light cavalry thus was given name "Hakkapeliitta". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakkapeliitta
Anyone else think at 0:25 the shot of Eomer may have been a reaction shot to Gamling’s supposedly filmed but deleted death scene? Eomer is reacting to something and we know really treasures his spear so for him to risk it something really major has to have happened. Yes we see gambling under the mûmakil I’m just wondering if it occurred there. I know Gambling is visible in a scene afterwards but when they removed the death scene maybe they just used other footage of him.
I love the way how Eomer threw his spear, killing the Harad leader and made his mumakil collide with the other and I hear one of the Haradrims yell ''No! No! No!'' in 0:39 😂 hahaha
@@Frserthegreenengine Dude... Elephants aren't emotionless war machines. The point of shooting them in the eye is that's where the projectile can actually penetrate and do damage, causing the elephant enough pain for it to panic and stop obeying the driver, or even causing it to collapse entirely if the wound is deep enough. Other such vulnerable areas are the back of the legs (achilles tendon) and the trunk (lots of major blood vessels).
The elephant rider guy here is my favourite character in these movies! Too bad the quality is so low in this video, you can't really appreciate his epic facial expressions and sounds.
If you watch Game of Thrones, I wonder how it would have been if they chose Shane for the role of Styr, Magnar of the Thenns instead of Yuri Kolokolnikov in GoT season 4?
why didn't Rohan archers steadily back away and shoot down the rider instead of charging in and shoot randomly at their legs... Seems like a bad leading from theoden
@@somebody700 Agreed. Althought at the time, I thought they were caught from behind by the Oliphaunts between them and the Orcs etc. But I was a kid and not realizing they could ride around them lol
Yes, perhaps the Legolas fangirls do watch LOTR to stare at the Elf, berserker276. I understand that not everyone is a fangirl. It is indisputable that Eomer did take down two, and that's more than Legolas did. But Legolas did it with extreme agility, strength, and planning (not to mention fabulous looks!). Eomer didn't even mean to bring down two. It was practically a 'happy accident.' In practicality, Eomer won the 'Oliphaunt contest,' taking down two Mumakil against Legolas' single Mumak. In terms of planning and execution, Legolas is still the winner.
Akathran Nethagrûl Yes, I know that. Is your point that it seems unlikely I could like both the book-Legolas and the film-Legolas, considering the book-Legolas didn't slay an Oliphaunt in the books? To that I reply that he is my favourite character for additional reasons than his looks and his Oliphaunt-slaying skills.
Legolas Greenleaf By liking him partly for his physical looks, you're implying that you believe good-looking folk are more valuable than not-so-good-looking folk.
Legolas single handedly takes down an Oliphant.
Eomer: "hold my mead"
Technically, Eomer's feat was before Legolas had arrived.
*_"AND, MY AXE"_*
Why does everyone remember Legolas killing an Oliphant? Eomer brought down 2!
Jack F i was just thinking that, and not only 2 but he stared that dude straight in the eye with a look that said "Omae wa mo shindeiru"
Because Legolas was a main character.
Because when legolas did it he was showing off lol, he actually climbed onto the oliphant and then skied down its trunk
Because Legolas did it with more style

0:31 Eomer didn't skip arm day. Throwing a heavy spear from a sitting position to the top of a 4-story-tall oliphant from range.
to be fair, training is probably all he does.
@@lazlow9640 And he is not even a Dunedain or an elf, so not a super human either.
Fun fact, Karl Urban practiced that toss up and throw move completely on his own, he just thought it would look really cool
@@thomaskhan2933 He fucking SOLD that role
Eomer's probably thinking "Who's number 1 now Legolas!!!"
"He's dead, Jim" - Eomer
And then Legolas has to go and upstage him by not only singlehandedly bringing down an oliphant but showing up with an army of literal ghosts.
As a Gimli count he got two then(+the riders)
There’s killing two birds with one stone and then there’s killing two oliphaunts with one spear
Haha! From now on I'm going to say that instead, just to add to my geekiness!
God, I fucking love this scene. 10/10 just for the Harad leader acting.

I love the turn around and look on Eomers face like “I’ve had enough of this shit.” And then just lays two of em out
That one dislike was the Harad leader.
There's three now. One's probably Legolas
There's four now. .so maybe. .Harad leader. .Legolas. .and the 2 oliphants
I get a very Mad Max vibe from him

Legolas's kill of the Oliaphaunt is the demonstration of working harder. Eomers is the demonstration of smarter.
Elf agility = showing off lol
Eomer threw that spear for The Boys.
oi
And Skurge with his Des and Troy

"Scorched Earth..."
That was awesome. If Eomer could just do that six more times, the Haradrim are done and Mordor loses.

That is a ridiculous throw from horseback! and I love it!

"I'd never seen a spear thrown like that" ~ Hector
Next king of Rohan everyone.
He's earned it!
"Looks like that armor wasn't so tough after all! Let's mop up the rest of 'em!"
Eomer the scorpion driver!
If Eomer missed he would’ve been trucked by the oliphaunt and he knew it
Meanwhile In Far Cry Primal
Gimli: That still only count as 1!
It was all nice and epic, but we all know why Eomer use a spear: he can't find his sword.
i get this reference
Gimli: that still only count as one
If I had a pet Oliphant, I'd call it Timothy...
The traditional way that war elephants were brought down was shooting them in the eyes; I suppose that was deemed just too mean. XD
It probably wouldn't make any difference. Elephants are known to have poor vision. Intelligent they may but their eyesight is their greatest weakness
