Love the Digitone sounds! I love how you somehow managed to make a good palette out of the presets, I thought you made all of em cause they’re pretty much your style :)
Agreed! Digitone is one of the most versatile AND simple to use FM boxes out there. You get Cuckoo and the like bringing back the vintage harsh Sega Megadrive/Genesis sounds with it, and then you have others out there doing crazy ambient, chill vibes, and everything in between. I think the Digitone is already registered as a classic synth and will be used in recordings for... well...forever probably.
You can use microtiming to push a sound on to the previous beat as another sound as long as it's a different note so you can have 2 sounds playing on the same beat on the same track, granted this will use up polyphony
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the digitone is my desert island synth. Maybe paired with an OT so I could sample and add some guitar. You can make an entire album with just that combination and it would be fantastic. Getting some Amynedd / 8bit nostalgia vibes from this tune! Fantastic as always!
Yeah the Digitone + a performance sampler is really all ya need. I think I’d pick that combo over just the Digitakt alone, but it’s a tough tough choice. Good thing we don’t have to choose :)
@@SlowHaste I may actually replace my DT with a Syntakt when the synth music bug bites me again in the winter. I’m not a huge samples kinda person and the OT does all I really need.
Hi Daniel, great video as always. I love my Digitone, it's the my core go to device, I just gel with it. You can do so much with it, I keep finding new things too, like the random-iser button that changes all the settings on the page you are on at that time, so you end up with a different completely sound on that tack - endless accidental fun.
Neat video! Lately, I've been really into using it as a bi-timbral poly for pads and keys sounds. Wish we could get a few more voices out of it, but the possibilities for lush and complex sounds is great as is. Setting up modulation with mod wheel/aftertouch makes it a ton of fun to just sit and play with a keyboard.
Wouldn't mind you documenting your digitone journey further. It's a deep box, there will be stuff you're gonna get really into after months or years of use. Cheers!
Nice one. Agree with others here, the Digitone is a very special machine indeed. I owned one a few years back but didn't really get it. Got another one a few weeks back. Now I understand synthesis more, its such a rewarding device to use. The 4 tracks are a bit limiting. But I might just trade up my Digitakt for another Digitone 🤔 😄
I had one when it first came out and really enjoyed the sounds. I didn’t really have any ability to construct a song mode so I just had to mess with loops over and over. Maybe I was missing something. Now that tethering measures together is a breeze with the PolyEnd Tracker, I think I might go and revisit the Elektron stuff.
I struggled with the Digitakt when I first owned it years ago. I returned it, but ended up getting another one a few years and something about it just clicked with me. Definitely worth revisiting, I think!
@@SlowHaste Same here! And it's good to aim for dry and tight mixes. But in this case, I think some atmosphere would take it to the next level. I agree, the Digitone is pretty amazing. It's the one resell I keep reconsidering.
its a little strange, isn’t it, that you have to press Yes to play the sound of a step? i would have thought that pressing the step itself would play it
I think then you would have to keep releasing & pressing the key to preview the sound, which could lead to accidental deletion of a step if you are trying to adjust/preview multiple parameters being locked for a single step.
Honestly, if digitone would have 6 tracks, 32 voices, and 2 fill buttons, it would be a perfect FM groovebox as for me. It already does pretty much any aspect of drums, percussion, and 808-style bass perfectly. It can sound lush and chordy too, it can sound retro-y / 8-bit / trap / house / trance / house / Minecraft. It can multitrack record for mixing and mastering. I don't need no Syntakt, I don't need no Model:Cycles (already have one, it's cool, but not as cool, only chord engine, ability to sweep-rise, and hold-to-retrig are killer features really), just give me Digitone gen3 with same engine but extended hardware functionality and I'd get 2 of them and sell all other hardware except Blackbox. Or, if you give a Digitakt gen3 stereosampling, extended memory, replace midi row with tracks, and give it a 2nd fill button, I'd get that instead. That'd be perfect thank you.

More digitone please!
Definitely!!
yes!!! more DN 🥺🍷
The Digitone is absolutely my favourite piece of gear. Digitone through the analog Heat? MAMMA MIA!!
Need to try the AH - or the OTO Buom!

I totally agree - I’d love to see a list of records it’s been on to date, I’m sure it’s make a lot of sneaky appearances

How does that randomiser work? I’ve never used that!
@@georgekay372 Hey George, I'm not in front of it, but try the SYN1 + Yes buttons on a page.
I need to do something with that randomizer, I never think to use it when I’m playing around!
@@georgekay372 - Combo of any page (Syn1, Syn2, Filter etc.) + Yes = Randomizes all parameters on that page :)
I have been watching the Elektron stuff for over 5 years. Digitone has great sounds and quite a few people have done wonders with it.
It’s incredibly deep & rewarding to explore, for sure
So easy to forget this box! Lovely work
It truly is lovely! Thanks Mark
Nice tut! Thx for sharing! Digitone is just the best fm synth for me!
For being less then half the price, I like the drum sounds on the Digitone way more than the Analog Rytm.
Some of the kicks have surprisingly got some hefty low end!

Thanks! It’s such a beautifully designed synth. I wish it had a flip-out keyboard for the sake of portability hahah
It is so good I've thought of getting a second one to pair them up.
Not a bad idea 😈

Definitely! I want to do a 1-year review type of thing, which is actually coming up pretty soon!
See loopop or cuckoo's long videos about it, you'll get a lot from these 2.
That track is also mind blowing good!
😄 thanks so much!!
Late to the party but this track is BANANAS!! Like, 🔥🔥🔥! Subbed!!
So glad you’re into it, thanks for the sub!
Elektron like Pokémon, gotta catch ‘em all. I’m gunning for the A4 next

@@netenute hahah, glad someone noticed that !
Matter of personal taste, but I'd add some delay and reverb on the lead sound. Probably the arp too. 😊
Probably a good tip - I try to control myself with reverb & delay because I basically add it to everything hahah.
