I did a couple oopsies in this video. I accidently left in an earlier take during the truck weighing section, so you will see me basically repeat a small section of the video. I also forgot to show the kingpin clearance, but you can see these images in the description of this video.
Sorry for any part of the video that's out of frame or focus, and for my breathing. I didn't realize the microphone was picking up my allergy ridden breathing so much until after recording everything, and I did my best to edit most of it out.

FYI, when you measure the axle to table. Use the top of your caliper to measure inside distances. That way you can place it on the table instead of using your finger. And measure to the edge of axle.
Then measure axle, divide by 2, and add that to get the height.

Your comparisons in size, especially the bushing washers is super helpful.

Vey comprehensive and detailed showing of the stage IV. Thanks.
On a side note, such a pity the kingpin hole is rounded, they were hexagonal in the old ones, ergo easier to adapt an inverted kingpin. Maybe it's just me but not happy to need to hammer the kingpin out and fix the nut with epoxy or similar. But it is what it is.

A good way of measuring the axle height is to measure from the table to the top of the axle on both sides, add both numbers together, divide by 2 minus 4mm (the axle is 8mm in diameter so subtracting 4mm will give you the centre axle height)

i like frankensteining trucks together with different parts sometimes. i put grindking kingpins on trucks whenever i can, but it's not possible with the round kingpin holes in the newer baseplates. older trucks had a hex hole and would fit either the bolt head or nut. i guess i'd need the indy mids of the inverted kingpin baseplates to put them in newer indys.

Thanks, you answered my question I had in my head. What is the height of the board side bushing in Stage 4. Stage 4: 14.70mm. Ace AF1 and bones is 14mm. So I if I want to ride stage 4 with Bones I going to have to stick 2 bones flat washers underneath.

I have so many pairs of Indy’s and can confirm the bushing washers are inconsistent all across the board. Even when using the washers from the replacement bushings.

i want to try them. i have a set of stage 5 or 6 149s, and stage 11 144s. i like the 6 hole plates, even though i don't have much use for it. just nostalgia i guess, i have a bunch of stuff from the '90s with 6 holes so it's familiar.

I couldn’t get the stage 4s jiggly enough so I put the stage 11 top bushing or an ace classic top bushing and it helps a lot, I also found it was pretty easy to use a razor blade to make the bushing ever so slightly shorter but it’s hard to make it a consistent size

  • @clifford_2zero7
    @clifford_2zero7 2 месяца назад

The height on the 11s depends on baseplate. Some are 53.5mm (forged baseplate) and others are 55mm tall(standard)
The difference is 1.5mm which is 1/16".
All stage 4s are 55mm tall.
    EDIT**
    Also from independent themselves..
"Stage 4s offer approximately .23" shorter Wheelbase

I’ve bought three pairs one got hit by a expedition truck hanger didn’t even crack but the axel bent on the left wheel put them on a glass table they didn’t even bend. I’ve been slappying the new truck to see how far they go but best turning trucks no doubt

I like the look of the stage 11's better. These stage 4's hangers do kinda look like a mix of Thunder and Ace.

It's likely that the stage 4 design predates the ace and thunders being sold now, meaning they could be influenced by it.

When you did the weight comparison, there was a fair amount of metal missing from the hanger on stage 11. That offsets the comparison. Makes me think a new stage 11 in the same size wouldn't be much different in weight.

Weight-wise these arent actually heavy relative to its alternatives of the same standard editions. For example - the stage 4 151s compared to the alternative independent truck is 159 probably maybe 149s depending on the deck size or preference: the stage 4 151's are 400g-408g and the 159s are 405g-410g and the 149s are 400g-405g... and the ace 8.75" (159 equivalent) is 409g+, while being 1.5mm shorter also.
So the weight is a normal range on the stage 4s, especially considering the stage 11 and ace equivalents are of relative weight to the stage 4s.

I jave abtheory as to why some people have measured shorter heights than 55mm - maybe they changed their bushings and didnt stick tonthe authentic original independent bushings and used the nirmal ones which as you dekonstrayed are shorter - and the stock ojes that come with the stage 4s are much much heigher quality bushings, like aftermarket bushings. They may have used bones bushingsband notnrealised it is supposed to be used with the specific line of stage 4 compatible bushings. This would theoretically shorten it by a couple mm.
    Possibility anyway.

Which Ace truck has the hanger a bit u-shape? I know Minilogo has, taught also Tensor might, but Ace? Can you give the model name?

Ace classics used to have a rocker on the hanger but they ditched that a few years back

Can anyone explain to me why these trucks supposedly have a better turning radius than stage 11's though they are the same height and angle? Is it the extra 3 millimeters in the bushings?? It doesn't make sense to me. I was under the impression that these are supposed to have sharper turns than stage 11's.

king pin ankle determines turn, kind pin angle plus pivot cup angle determines pinch.
its all about the angle of the kingpin. more upright, more turny and also shorter wheelbase which makes it even more turny

Dude. I’m a aviation mechanic and I skate. So I ordered stage 4 ,s and I find them to be bent !
I’m pissed. I always ride Indy’s for 35 years ! Never had problems , well maybe a crack or two after 35 years lol but damn I’m pissed. Can’t believe they are in china now. So bummed. Gonna make a video to show people. I hope INDY gets at me but I doubt they will.
I can see that the hanger doesn’t make much difference but when I put my wheels on you should be flat on the ground like a car. Well mine are way off. Very disappointed in Indy. I work at a Chinese owned flight school and there is a huge difference in the way we do business and quality.
Also fun fact The Chinese Boss is more akin to a King of a small country so I hope Independent knows that in Chinese culture a Boss ( 校长. Xao zhang )of a company needs to be greased and well respected . Respect is a huge thing . Hope I spelt that correctly. Good luck INDY.
