If the ad doesnt say as-is or for parts, i do think its reasonable to assume it works. But if I bought it for $10 i wouldnt be upset if i had to clean it when receiving, I see both sides. I think you should get it back to the guy instead of throwing it away. That’s the good karma path, even if your effort is undeserved.
I had to look back here to see the internals without opening mine up. If you look at 8:18, you can actually see the top left red slider switch copper tab is pushed down compared to the others. This would be the X button, and I went back to see what button didn't work, and it was your X button. This confirms with video evidence exactly your issue. I recently purchased a brand new Docs genesis controller, it had 5 of these similar tabs all broken. I had to crazy glue all of them back down. This is an issue with all of these controllers with slider switches like this, the copper is held down by a tiny piece of plastic that breaks from the force of the tab always pressed down on it. That being said, I have a few of these turbo touch 360 controllers and they act up sometimes with the movement. I believe this is probably the capacitors going bad on these. I will have to consider recapping mine to fix this issue as sometimes its OK and sometimes it acts up.
I hating buying used controllers. The buttons are often mushy. In the case of the used PS4 controllers, there are lots of fakes. Returning the $10 is the right decision.
I just pulled out my turbo touch controller from sitting for 25 years and noticed the A button stopped working while playing. I opened my controller up and cleaned it but it did nothing. I started to check everything and figured out the problem. I believe the buyer probably moved the turbo button and it finally broke, it could have worked when you owned it. The Red turbo buttons must be engaged or the button won't work. The metal contact in the red turbo button broke. I actually broke another one while cleaning so the plastic is very weak holding the the metal to the button. I will need to super glue two metal pieces back in place, but I tested it with a good button and my A button works. This is most likely your issue or anyone who has their ABYX buttons not working. An easy fix is to try and super glue the metal back in place or at worst, just short the contact and do without the turbo button. Did you throw out your controller?
That's clearly what the guy thought that bought it To my knowledge it did work, but I didn't make any claims one way or another Good thing I gave him his money
@@GearsAndTech Yes, there was a good chance when you had it it worked. The turbo buttons are the issue. The metal in the red turbo buttons breaks or gets loose and the ABYX buttons don't work unless the turbo buttons are making contact.

He didn't want it. I was hoping to fix it and give it back
But I don't need his $10

Great info. Thanks for sharing
Hello gears and tech it's the Ugandan boy as hopeful as ever

Agreed
I would have done the same thing. I don’t like uneven deals. I gotta make it right. Good job
The older I get the more I worry about stuff like this
If it ain't fair, then I would rather be the one that loses out

Did you throw out your controller?
Great info
I'll have to take a look. I think it went in the trash though
IIRC there's a 240p test suite for SNES which includes a controller test app
Great to know. I'll check it out!
Bruh if you sell something you have to make sure it works wth. If it doesn't work its literally garbage and nobody wants trsh even for $10.

Good thing I gave him his money
Yea it's a good thing u gave him money back I have no idea why you are calling people idiots because u sold them faulty goods???!!!😂😂😂
Making a video about this exp will help offset things too.
I hope so
Did u list that the controller was broken?, cant stand sellers who dont list faults
I listed it was used and not cleaned.
I didn't knowingly sell a broken controller. It worked fine when I used it
@GearsAndTech cool so the guy who bought it is not an idiot
