- The best day of the year! First backpacking trip of a new season. This overnight trip took us to a completely deserted Elk Lake in the East Rosebud drainage in the Beartooth mountains of Montana. A great trip with a surprise visit from a neighborhood moose.

Spectacular views, very well done, thank you my Brother.
Beautiful lake and trip. Some nice camera angles you chose. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Wow! What a gorgeous place! Thank you for sharing!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
I enjoyed that! Beautiful views! Nice shots with the camera! 🙌🏼👌🏼
Thanks for watching and for your kind words. It was a great trip and I was really happy with how the video turned out!
Epic stuff to look at!! Nice.
Thank you sir, enjoy the rest of your AT hike.
Very enjoyable video to watch. Well done and thank you.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words!
That was a beautiful hike. Liked the moment of Zen. Those vertical cliffs around the lake and valleys are dramatic...so pretty. Great job with the video.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Montana has quite a few “hidden” gems like this one. Thanks for watching and keep hiking on!
My goodness that’s a beautiful area!!
What was the elevation at camp?
Gotta love that Hilltop Packs. Great company
Great first trip of the year and you got to see a Moose👍🏻👍🏻
It’s one of the most spectacular areas around here. Elk lake isn’t very high, it sits just below 7,000 feet. Hilltop packs is the best for sure. Thanks for watching and keep hiking on!
I love seeing those mountains man, don't have any type of mountains that resemble those out my way so always enjoy seeing them in videos! They sure are beautiful! Man that shot at the 17:30 mark was great, like you said can't beat a backpacking trip like that especially it being the first of the season!
Thank you my friend. Let me know when you want to hit a trail out here in Montana!
Such spectacular views for sure...a great place for an overnighter...falls and running water, oh man, you have it made there...and to share in the adventure with a good buddy...Fantastic! Take good care now and enjoy the rest of the week!
I love it here! Thanks for watching!
It is so gorgeous out there! What a great place for the first one of the year. I am so thankful I went to Glacier last fall that I don't have to worry about the lottery. How cool to see the moose but glad she went the other direction. The snow was so beautiful but looks cold.
It is truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve been too. The whole trail is about 30 miles long and referred to the “beaten path”. The snow wasn’t bad at all. Until the very end to the trailhead that I didn’t film lol.
I wanna go!!! I might be back in that area this summer (coming from Michigan). Glacier National Park (my yearly ritual) looks like it's going to be a nightmare if I can't get those entry tickets for Going to the sun road unless I want to star gaze by being in the park before 6 am. Much more solitude in Beartooths and just as beautiful. I just miss those waterfalls in GNP.
Yes, things will definitely be different at Glacier this year, but the beartooths are always magical!
Man that was some amazing scenery! Looks like a great start of the season for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much! It was a wonderful trip in a truly beautiful place. Thanks for watching and keep hiking on!
Holy cow…. I’m blown away by the scenery! I enjoyed your video immensely. How far do you live from this? I’ve been to Montana to Ski…, but this hike!
Love it, - JBH
Thank you so much! This trailhead is about one and a half hours from where I live. It is the end or beginning of a very popular backpacking trail called over the top or the beaten path, east rosebud to cooke city trail. If you get a chance to hike it it’s well worth it! Keep hiking on!
Awesome first trip, glad things went well for you guys. 👍😀 what elevation was all that at ? Still a lot of snow here at cloud peak wilderness.
It was a good one. It is definitely one of the lower spots in the beartooths at around 6,600 feet which is part of the reason we chose it. I will be doing the solitude loop trail in cloud peak this July. Keep hiking on!
Great memories of the Beaten Path. BTW, I'm planning a different trip in the Beartooths this summer, is there some way I can contact you to see if you have any pointers on that route?
Of course, shoot me an email to everydaybackpacker@gmail.com and I can give you contact info through that.
Hey, just making sure you saw my reply with the email. If you contact me on there I will give you better contact info. Hope all is well.
doesn't get much better!
It was definitely a beautiful spot and trip. Unfortunately, due to the extreme flooding event that occurred this time last year, that beautiful lake doesn’t exist anymore as it appears in this video. I’m definitely glad I got to experience it before it was lost to the unending march of time in nature!
@@Everydaybackpacker One thing about nature; that's the reason you go backpacking. It changes constantly. It'll never be better or worse. But you sense the power!
Great video. Do you have any idea what the low temperature was at night?
Thank you! And thanks for watching. I don’t know the exact temperature it got down too but I would say it didn’t got below 30.
What a nice video, my friend! Great backpacking journey! Enjoyed watching, very useful info. Cheers from Russia, man and welcome to my channel about bushcraft tips and hacks! Best regards, Yuriy! 😊
Thanks for watching!
What month ?
We did this hike in early May. Still a lot of snow!
get rid of the music your in the wild 1/9/2022
I don’t listen to the music in the wild, I just add it to the videos after the fact, and I like it. But thanks for the feedback.✌️
