Some of their song lyrics are there for just the musical aspect of a word/lyrics, but there's also a lot of great/deep lyrics too, they have some fantastic one-liners. These four dudes are masters of their instruments PLUS they often have these cool lyrics that 99% of the general public have no idea they exist. It pisses me off so much when people just flippantly insult Phish for being a "jam band" when theirs SOOOOOO many layers that make this band the best, its more than just "jamming".
Keep em coming D-Rock, I watch em all.

Guyute is a composed piece. Some versions are tighter than others, but there is never a jam added on. It was first played live in 94 but didn't get put on an album until SOTG. Ghost and Birds always have a jam. So many good ghosts but my top 3 are

Portland Meadows 98 has some good live versions of Moma Birds Meat.
I'm really glad you're diving into Story of the Ghost. This is an amazing album with a bunch of songs that are amazing live.
Speaking of - if you want to hear an amazing live version of Guyute, you need to hear the 10/20/2010 version from Utica, NY. The show has become affectionately known as "Guyutica" (Guyute in Utica....get it?).
It's absolutely one of the better live versions of Guyute, but if you tackle it, you need to listen to the 3-song sequence of "Guyute>David Bowie>Wilson" from that show, as they are all thematically tied together in that show and a big reason it is lived as much as it is. Seriously. Please, please, please.
Ghost is a monster jammer. One of their best live songs. Birds is a ripper. It's a song about the fans. Should be played more than it is currently.
This album was a product of the Evolution in their sound around 1997 when there was more of bass/funky emphasis
Half the songs on this album were written by jamming for hours and then reading Tom's poetry over excerpts of the good parts. "Meat" is the first such experiment. Some musical leftovers appeared on The Siket Disc, which gave us the epic/ambient instrumental "What's the Use?" As for "Guyute," I've always enjoyed the October 20, 1998 done for TV.

Derek, you should check out Birds of a Feather (BOAF) from Grand Prairie, TX 7/29/15 posted by Phish. It’s pro-shot (as are all videos posted by Phish) and is a quality version with a nice type 1 jam. Most BOAF’s stay close to the riff and are high energy but don’t go type 2. There are some exceptions and a lot of phans apparently like the 23+min 6/19/19 version (275K views) from Cayahoga Falls, OH. Some of the best versions IMHO are only available with audio or poor quality video on RUclips.
