    By far, so very far, the coolest use of the Subharmonicon I've seen. Max is a wizard!

    I've been happily messing around with these 3 for months and this was JUST what the doctor ordered. The quick tips on getting the Subharmonicon setup were especially helpful. Thanks!

    The fact that he made it sound good without reverb or a delay..

    Awesome stuff. Great demo. Love these things. All 3 together is a beautiful thing.

    The Subharmonicon was the first Moog i got. It is amazing, you can build entire backing tracks for a song. It is doing quite well in ambient music. With all the chord changes etc. Inspiring instrument!

    Hey max, when will they release the cable rack and mixer for us silly peeps who bought the synths individually?
    Fun video :)

      Good question - I'd like the mixer/power supply too ...

    • @soundmapper
      @soundmapper 2 года назад +4

      I built my own mixer that clips on the back prior to the trilogy coming out, but they really need to offer this to the people who bought these individually.

    The combination of these that interests me is the Mother 32 and Subharmonicon. I don’t understand why that combo is not available as one of the studio systems but the other two possible combos are available.

    I'm new in the music producing game... Maybe someone can answer me or help me. I used bandlab and there were so many already finished samples i could use . You just drag and drop them and bam, you have a beat. Is this how it works? Whats the point of producing house music. It cant be that easy. Should i create the beat completely by myself or what should I learn?

    • @zzzz-yw4zk
      @zzzz-yw4zk 2 года назад +4

      No sample here brother, all synthesis. You should start at the basics of it. Understanding soundsynthesis is the beauty of musicmaking

    • @carl574
      @carl574 2 года назад

      You can look for samples on youtube too, that takes some time and work and a good ear. I wouldn't use melodic samples provided by your daw

    its so sad that the subharmonicons sequencer triggers both oscillators.. I guess its because of the envelopes but yea, its a dealbreaker for me..

    • @patrick5645
      @patrick5645 Год назад +1

      Not true. There are two sequencers and two oscillators and you can assign which sequencer controls which oscillators. You can have a sequencer control 1, 2, or even 0 oscillators

    • @alexandermontagnet3361
      @alexandermontagnet3361 Год назад +1

      @@patrick5645 Yeah, you can definitely just have it trigger one, two, or none. Then, if you bring in the sub-oscillators you can have it trigger three, four, five, all six, or still none of the oscillators. It doesn't have to trigger both main oscillators at the same time...

  • @maticherzog
    @maticherzog 2 года назад +2

    doesnt really produce any nice sounds...also seems to be way to complicated for any type of practical studio use. for modular lovers yes...but for serious production i dont know really...

    • @alexandermontagnet3361
      @alexandermontagnet3361 Год назад

      @@davidm3569 There are many better examples of what you are talking about that use the Subharmonicon. I think this video was more of a demo of showing the polyrhythmic part of the Subharmonicon, which is cool, but I don't use it that way with all four polyrhythmic options. That is very niche. It is great using 2, for example. Also, using 2 and then a third at the same division. I hope that makes sense. I understand what you are saying because I felt that way at first too, but the deeper I went in and then pulled back a little, not trying to incorporate everything at once on the Subharmonicon, that's where I found my sweet spot.

    • @THEELECTRONCREEPER

      You can get some beautiful soundscapes going if you slow everything down a bit and focus on building chords. Also sounds amazing with reverb

    • @alexandermontagnet3361
      @alexandermontagnet3361 Год назад

      @@THEELECTRONCREEPER EXACTLY! That is basically what I was trying to say with my last comment above. Pulling back and not trying to utilize everything, for example, making chords. And it's not just making chords like with any other paraphonic or polyphonic synth, it is a very beautiful and unique sound of the Subharmonicon. It's not just the weird, unusable polyrhythmic tempo stuff that seems to be unappealing to most people here. That is just one possibility. Slowing everything down, and adding some reverb and delay really makes the Subharmonicon shine! It is definitely an instrument that opens up sonic possibilities unavailable just on the Mother-32 and DFAM alone, or any other synth for that matter. At least that is what I have found in my experience, and I have a room full of musical equipment some of which I don't use anymore. However, I always come back to the Moog Trinty/Moog Sound Studio.
      Here is just one example. I wish I had videos to share, but I am sure he will not mind. Check this out for what I am trying to explain: ruclips.net/video/1BWF3kx3PVA/видео.html

    The subharmonicon is really the "west coast" Moog, this envelope behaviour is typical from Serge and Buchla. Such a cool trio !
