What I loved beyond the video and your talent was the comment you made about playing guitar and your hesitation to go into this type of music. I feel the same, I’m afraid I’ll stop my guitar😂😂
Thanks for taking the time to do what is without doubt the best tutorial of these great instruments. Would love to see more of these, always enjoy watching your content.
glad I found your channel. you have the set up that I really want. No computer, just synths and a mixer - all that's missing is a sampler i'd add or a drum machine. Love it! Thanks for the video
For some reason, I started thinking about getting an analog synth a few weeks ago, and the Sound Studio just jumped out at me. However, I have no real experience with electronic music--other than listening to it (I am a longtime classical guitarist, so I'm not new to music in general). Anyway, this video has pretty much sold me on the Sound Studio--Moog (or maybe Sweetwater) should probably pay you a commission for the upcoming sale. Excellent video!
This was really help to begin creating a patch starting from the DFAM and ending up with the mother32. I was getting lost moving between the mother32 and the subharmonicon, not really knowing where to start. I'm going to work from here to begin understanding how these three instruments tie together. I had a blast with a session this evening following some of these suggestions. Thank you!
Excellent explanation. I've been loving the DFAM for a while and just recently go the SubH and M32 to add to it. This was a great jumping off point for me. Not sure exactly on the tempo connection to M32 as this method does keep the M32 in time and allows to speed up and slow down tempo, but it doesn't start and stop and M32 when you start the DFAM.
@@ChimeraGilbert I was the same, but in my opinion it’s easier than learning the guitar because it’s quicker to get something musical out of it from nothing!
Thanks so much - I always really enjoy your "patch from scratch" style videos - it helped me come to terms with the SubH a lot. The M32 stuff you had in this one about trying to pick the melody without having to dive deep into musical theory was especially awesome though.
THANK YOU for making this! Most of the videos I come across are bad demos lol. Your patch/sequence is awesome. Definitely inspired me to pull out mine and make some new stuff
This was my first dive into synth life 10/21. It's become quite the thing, It is refreshing to go back and start fresh with the trifecta. What a world - excellent video and edu. Might be my fav sub harm night yet.
This is excellent, and very very helpful, thanks! I very much enjoy this format, where you explain your process. Looking forward to part 2 (and possibly more?). I was already subscribed, so I wont up your sub count, but I just "rang a bell" for this channel, which I almost never do. Cheers!
Awesome! I've got the same setup as you do so I was able to follow along! You saved my life I was two inches from bringing all these sythst back to the store. Do you have some way of buying you a coffee? Cheers from Switzerland and Happy new year.
I feel you. I've got the moog station for over a year and half and I've never felt any restriction in creativity. Use it with octatrack and its just heaven. Cheers man.
What a great lesson! You gave me confidence I can make music when my Sound Studio 2 arrives... BTW I skipped the M32 and I'll be using the Cre8audio East Beast in it's place.
Thanks so much for this video, it gave me a new push with the Moog studio. My biggest issue there is the M32. I really like the sound, but the sequencer and menu diving is so horrible. I.e. for me it doesn‘t change the tempo when turning the knob while it is synced. Some wrong mode, I guess? Anyway, keep up the good work, would love to see more tutorial videos on the studio
You need to update the tempo input setting so that it's in MODE 3 - Analog Clock. (Shift + Reset/Accent + Set End + 8, use arrows to go to page 3 of the settings, press 3).
Great useful video thanks. Probably a dumb question but does it work reliably if you put a drum machine in front as the clock for everything? Via midi?
This is great! But how are you able to change the tempo of the m32 when it is receiving the clock from the suBh. Is there a special setting that allows you to do that? (When I change the tempo knob, nothing happens.)
Hej! Thanx a lot for your video, it's precious! Just have some issues with the subharmonicon to mother32 patch. As soon as I plug the cable, the m32 react by changing the rythm constantly (as if the notes weren't triggered all the time). I don't know if it's a firmware update thing but I didn't get around it. Any idea? Thanks again for your work ;)
Is there a place to buy the overlay cards for these modules? I got the Sound Studio 3 as a bundle, but it didn't come with the overlay cards. It included them in a printed book.
Hey buddy good question. Depends on the type of education you are looking for. Personally I put them in the category of “happy accident machines”. I was able to learn quite a lot of synthesis from them, and I have used them as a tool for other things in songs, but overall I use them as something where i sit down and have no idea what songs going to be playing on my speakers in half an hour! Probably doesn’t answer your question, but it’s what I got!
What are you Mother-32 settings on this? Just normal? I messed with PPQN for something I was doing with an original Roland 707 drum machine and messed everything up. Good times though!
Ok now got the popular watch on the right arm so that's good everyone can see, and the right arm has the tattoos and that's even better so I'll get all kinds of viewers, hopefully one group or the other will like me.💤
Interesting take friend, tattoo already on my arm before I decided to make the video (and I’m right handed)and the watch is mostly to tell the time, both of which cost a lot less than those moogs though😂

amazing! just bought a DFAM and I am loving it, start to want the full studio now, while my guitars (7)

Hey great stuff! Have you got a diagram that shows the settings on all the 3 different synths? would be interesting to try them out:)

You can find the pdf version and print the page.

Do you use any reverb in this video? (Software/Hardware?)

There are people who pronounce Moog with a long O, and there are people who are wrong.
There's a video of Bob Moog himself on RUclips explaining how to say Moog. It is pronounced like 'vogue'.
Loved this video, I am getting one that's it haha, hit ya with a like and sub as well, cheers!
