In 1823 "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Samuel Clement Moore was published in The Troy Sentinel in Troy, NY. This year the Rensselaer County Historical Society (Troy, NY) is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the poem. It is the theme of their yearly open house greens show in the mansion. It is part of the annual Victorian Stroll in our downtown district. Troy was a booming place to be during the Industrial Revolution & was one of the wealthiest cities in the country at that time.

Just love your flosstubes, ladies! You bring so much enjoyment into our cross stitch world! I am glad I got to meet Justine at the shop-she and Sarah are a delight-customer service excellence! I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchases. So glad we stopped on our way home from the Grand Canyon. I didn’t realize your shop is so close to my backyard-well, not really, but close enough to come back real soon. Thanks for all you do for the cross stitch world!

Ok ladies. I’m DYING at the Walrus v Narwahl discussion. The “horn”/“tusk”. Is actually a tooth. Some consider it the unicorn of the water. Great video as always. Kate.

Another fun video!! I just loved it and, as always, there were some good laughs. I totally agree with Carol about having things kitted up and not starting them. It is such a waste and they have no chance of ever being finished if they are never started!! DUH!!! LOL. I loved all of the beautiful finishes and stitched pieces, so gorgeous. Congrats on expanding your store!! I don’t know if I will ever be able to come to your store but it is something I would love to do. Happy stitching to you both!

I usua laugh thru most of your videos and today was no exception. But, OMG, the narwhal segment just about did me in! I laughed so hard my sides ached. The narwhal actually is what you thought was the dolphin. Sometimes it's also referred to as 'the unicorn of the sea'. I hope you ladies have a great weekend!

It's ridiculous how excited I get when I see you gals have posted a new flosstube! I know the laughs will be coming, and they did for sure with this one 😂. Loved seeing all the finishes by Mara! Justine, I laughed so hard when you said you couldn't remember which of those little fall ornaments you were stitching on! Shelly, I'm nearing the end of stitching that monthly quaker series by From the Heart myself. In fact, I was putting the last stitches in the October quaker while watching you all today 😊. You'll really enjoy stitching them I think. I'm getting a little weary as I come to the end of the series, but just 2 more to go, and I'm excited theyll be done. I found an arched window in Hobby Lobby that I'll be mounting mine on. I love the clock piece you found for yours...and with great storage too! Oh, and fyi, what you thought was the narwhal in the HOD polar ornaments was indeed a walrus. The narwhal was what you thought were dolphins. Narwhals have 1 big tooth that grows out of the top of their head, almost like a unicorn. 😂. Have a great few weeks!

Yes...thank-you for the Saturday night entertainment...while I'm trying to get a Honey of a Tiny Town finished. I am determined it will not become a wip. I told myself this summer I was going to finish at least 1 of my projects that I had started the year before...did I...of course not, I had to start new ones...I have a lot kitted but I think if I started to many of them at one time it would start stressing me. All I have to say is that if the world shuts down again I am prepared! And if there is one thing us stitchers learned during Covid is that one can never have to much fabric, floss and charts..:)

I also might be doing what Missy mentioned for WIPGO next year where the boxes are just stitchy themes like patriotic, Christmas, fall etc... Then I can work on whatever WIP is calling to me in that theme. The Narwal pattern is the animals you thought were dolphins. They have a tusk on their heads that looks like a unicorn horn😊. You guys crack me up.....such Minnesotans. I love Shelly:" I can get there by just driving in the general direction." that only works in flat agricultural states. And not knowing what a Narwhal is....(horned, extinct whale). You just demonstrate what you said at the beginning...we are a collective of expertise based on our local experience and it is so fun to tune in and see others perspectives based on where they live. Whether it is Midwest, Texas, NE, Fl or West Coast Canada (me)..it is what makes us a global community. We fill in each other's gaps by watching one another.
