So, I'll explain a little. I'm disabled, I lost my left leg below the knee due to infection caused by Type 2 (or self inflicted) Diabetes on a broken toe. There's more to it than just that but I live on a small fixed income for the disabled. One of the main reasons I adore Life by the Bow so much is it offers me an escape for a while from my normal routine. Being on the fixed income also explains why I have been unable to purchase anything from AVAIL, but I am working on it. My Birthday is coming up in a couple of months and I figure I might have enough saved for a nice bottle of Scotch and a Shirt or Hoodie along with a de-hooker and fillet knife. I was only able to get out this summer twice to go fishing with a buddy, and maybe once this fall depending on the weather, and soon enough Ice Fishing will be on again and I'm hoping to get out a few times for that season. Back to you guys, so first things first, CONGRATULATIONS!!! on the New Boat!!! I'm really excited to see what direction you've gone in for an off shore boat (unless you've decided to go radically different), but I have a notion of what may be coming. Great looking (and I bet tasting) Mahi cook-up!!! That's probably my favourite way to cook fish, simple just salt and pepper and some garlic and butter at the end, very yummy!! Once again "Thanks!" for allowing us to tag along on one of your adventures, glad Zak got in on a Mahi as well, us camera operators usually never refuse if someone hands us a rod! lol Take Care and Stay Safe, and we'll see you all again soon!!

The first couple of minutes of the video is awesome. I can feel the peacefulness. My favorite is the fish skimming out from the front of the boat and across the the top of the water at the bottom left of the shot at 0:40. It looks as if the fish uses its tail to skim across the top of the water for a good 15 or 20 feet. Check it out.

Hey Clay! So a few questions:
1. When you come across a school of Mahi that are on the small side but want the fight of the fish, what is your go to setup (rod/reel) for light fish? That doesn’t look like a 5500 Slammer!
2. When are the pliers going to be back in stock? Tried ordering with the dehooker but as my luck would have it they were sold out.

You my friend great question and thanks for noticing! We typically stick to our 5500 Penn Slammers however this year we decided to specialize our tackle towards the smaller fish with four Penn slammer 4500s.
So sorry about the stocking issue with the pliers! We’re making some tweaks to make them just a little bit better!
The effort you all put into these videos is incredible. Cinematography on the opening sequence is top notch. Keep up the great work, and congrats again on the new boat.

Scalloping has been slow in Crystal river this year, they are there but buried deep go slow and you should do fine . Grouper are doing pretty well also. I hope you enjoy your trip to our back yard as much as we do in yours

I'm guessing you are scalloping in crystal river. Let me know how it is. It was actually fantastic in Pasco this year. I think we went 7 days in a row and limited out easily!
We didn’t do much scalloping this year, mostly fishing but we had a blast!

Clay I have a quick question. After cleaning a fish and having it filet. Do you wash your filets with fresh water or salt water? I heard it makes a difference in the taste, just wanted your opinion.

Hey my friend great question. For the most part I try to rinse my fish with salt water however some days it’s just not realistic. For the most part I rinse all of my fish in freshwater except tuna. Rinsing tuna with fresh water will actually ruin the meat.
I just started watching you two. I swear I’ve never seen a couple have so much fun. BTW, that journey you two did to the Bahamas, I’ve done the same distance in a 22ft Boston Whaler Guardian while in the USMC
