Lived first half of my life in Russia. Lived second half in Charlotte NC area. And for the past year and a half been living in rural-ish area, Albemarle. Love it sooo much! No traffic, quieter life, beautiful views! Yet all major stores, banks, hospital and all other wanted or needed locations are all within 10 mins of the house. Mountains and lakes are within 20-45 mins from the house. Love it. Everytime I have to go 45mins back to Charlotte - I just can't wait to get back to peace and quiet of my new life. Another bonus point: 2300sqft brand new house is $299k. True Homes builds it in 7-9 months.
I've had my Super Cub for a year and a half now and am thinking of registering for the Cannonball next year. I've been riding the Super Cub and the BMW C400GT more and more these days and my car less and less. Having waaaayyyy too much fun on 2 wheels! Riding around Houston is certainly stressful and really keeps you on your toes. Be safe out there and maybe I'll see you on the road one day!

Moved outside of the city in 2020, but still have to work in it. Every time I'm in town I feel that same anger and tension around me. If things continue in their current path (and I think they will), the cities are huge powder kegs, ready to explode.
After I think 2 weeks it goes up to 450 for return riders. It’s discounted to 400 for people that are returning and register early. 500 for first timers.

I’ve got about 30 years of working left at least regular full-time job anyway and I use it for commuting all the time I use the car like maybe 10% of the time and I think I’m gonna be putting probably 12 to 14,000 miles a year that would be 390,000 miles. It would be really cool if it went that long or longer but we’ll see but yeah I maintain this thing obsessively and I do all scheduled maintenance on it and have cut the oil changes in half because I think 4000 is too much but like I said if it could last that long that would be super sick

@@QuasiMotard well I have taken the frame into account and unfortunately I do live in the Russville and I do right in the winter. I do the best I can to keep it clean though, but you can buy entire frames for it if you want to I think it would be a pain in the booty, taking all of it from one frame and putting it on another, but I’m sure it could be done, but it’s like saying if you have a boat that’s made of lumber and replace every single board is still the same boat. I do have the service manual so probably anything is possible. At least the way I am right now, though a whole frame off switching to another frame would be too much for me right now, but we’ll see. Unfortunately, the frame is not aluminum. It’s steel. I think it was aluminum that would be better, but it did come painted and I’m gonna try to keep it that way. But also most of it’s protected by the plastic to an extent so that helps.

I made battery jumper cables that worth with my battery tender connection. Then I found some fuse extenders on Amazon shorted the wires together so if I have a dead battery I just use my norco boost jumper, plug it into my battery tender cable, then replace the 3.5 amp fuse with the jumper fuse and can jump start my bike. Don’t even have to take stuff off to physically get to the battery that way. Far more convenient
Metzeler Roadtec Scooter tires in Silver Wing sizes run about $180/set, Metzeler FeelFree are about $200/set, Bridgestone Battlax SC1 are about $250/set and if you want cheap then go for Shinko SR 567/568 at about $130/set.

I am not 100% sure but i think they made/make citegrip 2's in silverwing sizes, one of the Italian scooters also has that 13/14 inch wheel setup so it was worth it to Michelin.

hey man there exist such a thing as automatic chain lube dispenser il a device that has a small oil tank and a device providing a drip every few seconds that lands directly on the chain so the chain can be lubed, in this case you just have to top the lube tank once in a while, on the simpliest versions of such a device you have also manually to turn if "on" when you take the road and turn in "off" when you park, there may also exist automatic versions that detect when engine est runing for automatic on-off of the device
Great tip! I actually have a Scottoiler V-system that I planned to install on the Super Cub before the Cannonball... I just ran out of time before the trip. I've used the Scottoiler on previous street bikes with success. The only drawback is the small oil reservoir size and the relatively thin oil it uses. It's difficult to adjust the flow rate slow enough to last more than 1000 miles without a refill. We consumed a couple of cans of Motorex street chain lube on that trip instead... easier to carry and no messy refilling. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
In regards to the smaller jumper cables: I've found that the emergency kits you can buy tend to work well for the smaller terminals because the alligator clips are very small. There's no way I could have used a full sized set on my Ryker lol.

Greetings from the USA! The telemetry data for the heads-up display is recorded by my GoPro Hero11 camera (and my Garmin Zumo GPS when I'm riding with it). The gauge overlay is generated using a third-party program called Telemetry Overlay: goprotelemetryextractor.com/ I stitch everything together with Adobe Premiere Pro to create the final videos. Creating the overlays is a lot of extra work, but I think the end results are worth the effort. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Thanks for the Parallell Jump Start Battery Charger tip! I've got some 12 gauge duplex wire to make one. Also, have you ever hooked up the red gas tank on your Cub? I looked for the install and couldn't find it. How to plumb it?
Yep, that parallel jump trick is also good for battery packs used on cordless power tools. If the voltage drops too low, then the charging station won't even turn on. If you wire the dead battery in parallel with a good one, then it revives the dead one enough to trick the charger into feeding it again. That red tank in the center is a jerry can. It's one of only two "Neil tanks" in existence! I have one on my Cub, and a friend of mine, Adrian, has the other one. Our buddy, Neil, custom fabricated those tanks and mounting cradles for us before we left on our 10K-mile cross-country trip for the 2021 Scooter Cannonball Run. They hold about 1.3 gallons of fuel, but they aren't plumbed into the main fuel supply. We used them as emergency fuel supplies and as transfer tanks during our extended road trip. as of Saturday my bikes is all i have to ride. rain sleet snow or hail. well my county just F me over so i would be going anywhere or doing anything. me being on a fixed income. my Tax's went up $6000 this year and they wont fix it.
Ok... I know that it's not good to set a lead acid battery on a concrete floor because it causes them to discharge. Anyone happens to know if it affects a lithium battery?
That used to be a concern with older batteries, but modern plastic battery housings minimize ground charge dissipation. Newer lithium batteries (LiPo and LiFePO4) use individually encapsulated cells inside the outer battery box, so they are double-insulated. It's a VERY smart idea to remove lithium batteries from the machine before fast charging them. There have been hundreds of cases where lithium batteries have shorted internally and gone into thermal overload and rapid oxidation... a.k.a. fire or explosion. Charging them separately from the machine. (on open concrete or in a fire-proof charging box) is a safety precaution to allow the battery to burn without affecting the machine. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
The clock is sitting at about 16.5K miles right now. I'm trying not to ride it too much more until I open up the top end to inspect and replace the timing chain tensioner and idler wheel. Those components are reportedly prone to failure around 15-20K miles on these little 125's when they are run hard. I think my 10K Cannonball trip probably qualifies as "hard running". 😉👍 --QM
That's a good question! The PCX is still in shambles from my 2023 Scooter Cannonball trip. The plastics are broken and battered, and I haven't had time to resurrect that scooter yet. I totally agree with you about getting out of a busy town. I live in the Charlotte area and it's gotten so busy and so aggressive and angry.
I've had very poor luck with Lithium moto batteries... Cold temps the kryptonite. Back to Lead/Acid for me.
Easier to charge and can be jumped.

Haven't owned a super cub, but have had bikes that did dump the crankcase breather into the drive sprocket.
Well, my cub is still on commute duty and will be on commute duty forever until it can’t do it anymore

1981 Super cub I have does have a breather with a hose going down away from everything, not to the chain.
