  • The trademark footwork of world number one golfer, Scottie Scheffler, has become a talking point in the golf industry for a few years now, but it's not actually a new phenomenon at all. Many golfers have demonstrated elements of of The Bowler Drill over the years, including Greg Norman, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.
    Stack&Tilt has been describing the benefits of The Bowler Drill for over a decade and you're now seeing many players and coaches adopting this drill when they practice and when they play.
    The Bowler Drill is a mutli-purpose drill, meaning it fixes multiple issues in one simple drill. If you suffer from early extension, excessive hip thrusting, or poor swing direction, then The Bowler Drill can fix all of these issues, and more!
    In fact, once you discover the many benefits that The Bowler Drill can have on your game, you'll likely want to play golf on the course using this swing - and that's exactly what I do!

    Doesn't this make a lot of sense. At least let's give it a try. Robs previous video helped very much, and this could do the same. I never get tired of the instruction. It just frustrates me that it has taken so long to get to grips with a decent swing that I am now more confident with. I think that sticking with Rob is the best thing any of us could do if we want to play well. Thank you.

    In one video you describe all of my current swing faults and how to fix them. Your driver video was wonderful, this one adds to that one for a perfect combo. Going to the range this week to practice this drill. It's going to make a incredible difference. Keep all the great videos coming! You are really helping me.

    Great question I’ve also pondered. For me, dropping the trail foot back in the transition/downswingit reminds me to keep the trail hip back and not thrust it at the ball-target line as in my longstanding over-the-top move. I try to use this on the tee box for my longer clubs. Certainly in my pre-shot swing. Also the longer the club the more I drop my trail foot at setup. So in essence I need both moves to help me.

    If you look at pro bowlers who roll the ball classically, you will see them reach the ball above their shoulders on the take back and finish with their arm at or below the shoulder line at the release. Very similar to the golf swing

    Rob, your videos are always very well done and quite informative. And seem to hit me quite often as this one does. I need to get you some videos. I’m playing very well, shooting my age often, but my bad shots are a power shot dead straight but right, or a little low snapper to the left which seems to be a result of the hips being ahead of the shoulders. I know my path is too much from the inside. Thanks again for your work!

    You add a little of the wrench and it fixes so many things. Low point so much more accurate. Direction more consistent. Arm straight is also much easier. Finally contact feels like butter. I have lost 4 or 5 yards on the irons but I may never swing any other way again.

    The last couple of years I had a very closed stance as you demonstrated. This year I made it less extreme but still closed & concentrated more on keeping my weight forward. Then I started to focus on keeping my left shoulder under my chin & having a slight pause at the top so I don't rush the downswing & early extend. The results this year have been stupendous. Your instruction has helped a lot Rob!

    just back from a range session trying this - both just setting up with the right foot pulled back and also physically pushing the right foot backwards in the downswing/impact. Immediate improvement in strike, start line, reduced curve and certainly as a systemic "overdraw" sufferer it removed that - another bonus is that it removed my side bend tendency and even after 100 balls, I was having no issue with the back/hip problem that plagues me . What I did notice was that ball flight was also a lot higher than is normal for me, but distance was down, not too concerned as it was range balls and into wind - the only query I have is that Ive been working on applying more of a front posting move and with the feeling of sliding the trail foot back in the downswing I was struggling to exert the vertical force as previously. Is that to be expected or just teething troubles?

    I get critizied by friends and familiy for not having both feet in line. I like to leave my right foot abit back to have more room for my arms, but if the ball goes right they instantly say I was aiming there.

    The reason bowlers do it is to offset the weight of the 15-16lb ball handing down off the other side.
    Not saying it isn’t good with golf because I use it within my instruction but the relationship to bowling isn’t right. Two different purposes.

    • @robcheneygolf1
      @robcheneygolf1  5 дней назад +1

      I was explaining where the name of the drill comes from, not that it was for the same reasons. The video lays out the benefits to golf which I'm sure you're aware of.
