If you want the stained wood instead of paint, do you recommend staining each individual piece before installing on the wall or stain the whole thing after installation?
I would definitely pre-stain. It'll be easier to manage and you can let the finish off gas outside before you bring it in. There's no sense in letting all of those fumes free in your home.
Unfortunately the wall material was thicker than the baseboard and would have stuck out over the baseboard. But with a thicker baseboard that would definitely work!
3+ sheets of plywood at around $45 per sheet, some Liquid Nails ($15) and 16ga nail gun. Clear coat or paint to your wishes. Less than a gallon of paint.
Why take the base board out? Why not place from the top of the baseboard? Only asking because I’m about to start this project. And what other options over plywood would you recommend if I don’t have the ability to rip them? Thanks
He replaced the baseboard temporarily with a straight and level piece of plywood to ensure everything is level from top to bottom. He put the baseboard back on at the end. Using precut planks is easier, especially if you don’t have a good rip saw to cut your own. I plan on using precut pine or cedar planks from the lumber yard on my wall.
In this case the plywood was thicker than the baseboard. I've done another project similar to this one with very thick baseboard and I just left it in place. Plywood is the only real option for a quality end result. I've got another video coming that shows some options for ripping the plywood without a table saw.
when you say liquid nails - do you mean just glue - i noticed you used a nail gun at end of video so it was confusing please explain - thanks and great video
Liquid Nails is a brand name. It's wood glue in a tube like caulk. The liquid nails is what will hold it to the wall without it bowing or pulling away. The nails are just to hold it in place while the glue dries.
I used 1/2" Baltic Birch. It's a bit more expensive than what you find at the big hardware stores, but doesn't have the voids that cheaper plywood. MDF is great inexpensive option but is a mess to cut so I avoid it.
Nice work, but i can't stand how everyone wants everything painted white right now. That just seems like such a waste of time to do all of that just to paint it white. To each their own though.. My house, that I'm completely remodeling, would be considered dated, lol. I like wood.🤷🏼♂️
Very beautiful
Very well done video. Thanks for the tips, the metal spacer was the exact tip I was looking for. I appreciate it.
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the quick and concise video. I love the end result and will be adding this to my list of future projects. Thanks again!
i think it looked so nice as it was natural, not painted
hi guys miss you at lakewood's
I won’t be able to do it myself but I enjoyed the video nonetheless!
Well, you know a guy when you’re ready.
Don't limit yourself, you'll be surprised what you can do with the right advice.
Are the first 4 boards you put on all the same length?
Yep.
Muuuy buenooooo!!!! Me ayudo a la idea lastima que no está en español sdos

I pre-stain any time I can. It would be a mess and the off-gassing would be terrible in a house.
If you use the one by three border can you just leave the baseboard one and level your bottom plate

That is great work. What is the estimated cost for a 10*10 feet wall make over ?
In my area the going rate seems to be somewhere between $1000-$1500.

Can you make the audio any quieter?
I see the width of the strips is 6” but how long are the majority of them? Thanks
All of those were 4' long to minimize waste and allow the pattern to keep a small footprint.
If you used 4’ boards, what was the length of the wall. I guess what I’m asking is, how did you determine using the 4’ boards?
How much extra material do you figure in sq/ft for material?
I think I allowed 25%.

Not centered on the wall?

Nice work but your audio is terrible to hard to hear. But I was able to follow the video.
That's not the audio. That's my voice.
Damn. Looked real good until it got painted 😢
But gotta do what the client wants…
What paint it!!! 😂😂😅😂😅😂😅😅😂😂 looked better before.

I also hate it when people spend their own time and money painting their house the color they prefer. The nerve....
@@ericwise4335 Change it or I'm gonna come over and change it for you!
@@MMGJ10 lol, just take the L. No reason to threaten people online over getting burned.
You didn't use glue , what happens over time where you didn't hit studs. Oh jeez?
At 1:42 I talk about what glue we used.
A kind suggestion: please speak up. Thank you.
Dude…. You don’t paint it when you paid that price for birch?!?! 🤌🏼 If your gonna paint it just sand some scrap wood!
People with too much money and no common sense
