POV: Your Cat Is Purrsistent, Do You Always Have To Respond To Requests Immediately? | BilliSpeaks

- New button users usually ask “how do I tell them they can have what they want but not right that minute?!” As you’ve seen, requests can be incessant. I introduced a “later” button pretty early on, and while you can see keeping track of time isn’t Billi’s strongest skill I think she at least gets the idea that I’m listening to her.
In typical cat fashion, once I was done eating she didn’t want to play anymore 😹

Billi is a female domestic shorthair, she's 14 years old, her favorite word is mad.
Inspiration for learning to “speak” with buttons from Hunger4Words (check her out on IG).

"Mom, if you would just stick your face in your bowl, you would get done eating a lot faster. It works for me." - Billi
Probably thought that Mom was just playing with her food to not tend to Billi as well.
😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How did you...[checks for hidden cameras] 😆
I continue to be shocked when “mad” isn’t pressed 2.5 seconds after mom doesn’t do what Billie wants 😂
Character growth 🙌🏻
@@BilliSpeaks more vocabulary. 😂
Can't be quick to anger when training your hooman. Patience is the key. That's why you have to speak slowly.
Billi: "play, play, play."
Kendra: "Mom eat play later."
(Later)
Kendra: "Ready, Billi?"
Billi: "nah, that was past Billi that wanted to play. I'd rather eat."
You make me wait, and then I got high.
@@Cloxxki and got the munchies
Our cats are very clear in their demands. I am afraid to give them buttons. lol 😁
They have their ways, don't they?!?!?!!!
Me too 😅🙈
I'd be afraid to start with "treats," I think. 🤔 😻
@@cc1k435 if you’re gonna do it, don’t start with treats, that makes it a trick that they do for food as opposed to a way to communicate with you.
@@cc1k435 The rule of thumb when it comes to the buttons is not to begin with food or treats. While I haven't started my buttons I know that the first button I plan to introduce is "outside."
Since "eyeing" is part of a cat's hunt sequence, and humans spending a lot of time doing what looks a lot like looking (reading, tv, etc.), maybe she thinks watching zoom zoom would be as mentally stimulating for you as for her?
She does like to just watch zoom zoom frequently! It’s like cat TV
Maybe it was mentally stimulating. After all, as you said, watching from a distance is a part of a cat's hunt sequence/instinct.
Boredom is not always the same, I would say the difference between watching zoom zoom and playing zoom zoom is like when I'd rather read than listen to music. It takes less energy but it's just as engaging [edit: but I tend to dance/pace when I'm listening to music and sit still when I'm reading, I should've clarified that].
I totally love this theory. It really makes sense.
Had a cat who loved to watch ballroom dancing on TV. (music and movement)
Zoom Zoom is like live theater for cats.
@@BilliSpeaks I imagine it's quite a comfort watch, if you're a cat. The window channels always have such plot-driven suspense going on!
While she was waiting, Billi got stoned and decided she just wanted to stare at zoom zoom and got the munchies. 😺😹
LOL! Perfect!
I would do the same tbh 😭
That's exactly what I thought! Lol
That offended look Billi gives the camera its priceless🤣
She has such an expressive face lol
I love her little announcement of Catnip, "Just letting you know I'm getting high!" Too cute
“Mother is ignoring me, I suppose I’ll amuse myself”
I think it was more like, oh wait, there's still some leftover from before. I'll just imbibe on that...
"Welp you're not coming to play, guess I'll catnip my sorrows away."
Her definition of "soon" and yours differ quite a bit 😂
Definitely that 😂
My cat's favorite button is ALL DONE. When she wants something, she tells me I'm all done eating or being on the phone. We're working on soon and later.
I love how she decided to eat from food mousey while she waited for you to finish eating. Just being like "Well if you're going to eat, then I want to eat too." A pretty good example of the behavior of social eating.
Our cat will go eat whenever we sit down to eat, and if there is no food in his bowl, he'll look at us with the most offended expression. How could we stand to eat if he's sitting there hungry??
@@Jupiter-T Lol yep! That's social eating behavior in cats. Some people will time their cat's feeding time with when they eat if their cat prefers it. It reminds me how offended Billie was when Billie's dad wouldn't give her his salmon, how dare his food not be communal! X'D
I get nervous everytime Billi has to wait for something because I think she will press the mad button lol.. She is pressing the mad button way less and communicating so well!!
Right?! Mads are becoming infrequent 😹
"Mom doesn't understand, let me try different buttons" - Billi's logic.
That "very patient kitty" face!😹😹😹🐾🐾
💙🥀☘️
She really tried to give time but that clock goes down so fast with cats
She didn't need the Mad button there. Her face said EVERYTHING. 😹
I recently bought a zoom zoom for my cat and she just wants to look at it too. Glad I'm not the only one thinking this is her new cat tv.
she is processing the time it takes for movement from one side to the other, if regular or predicatable guessable it gives the rough place she will have to pounce to get it, bit like a cricketer getting their eye in against a fast bowler, you play where the ball will be at a predicted point in time (and hope swing wont catch you out )
@@highpath4776 My cat does the same thing when we play with a wand toy. He usually prefers ground prey, so I drag it on the ground, and sometimes he will stare at the toy for several minutes before he finally pounces. I can see his eyes following it back & forth, and once he gets a feel for the pace and can calculate when he needs to jump and where he needs to land to catch it, he finally starts readying his little legs. He also gives this funny look where he lifts his head up to look at the toy from higher up, I imagine to get a better perspective on the distance, before he does a "kitten jump" pounce. But if I start moving the toy a different way or at a different pace before he's finished his kitty kalkulations (because sometimes I get tired of holding my arm out that long!) well then I mess him up and the clock starts from zero again. I know it's not that he's lost interest entirely, because if I stop moving the toy around, he'll look up at me and start whining, like "Why'd you stop?!"
She was so frustrated that you had your own needs, that she had to take some catnip to calm down! 😅😅😅
I wonder if she wanted YOU to look at Zoom-zoom with her together as an together-activity, like cats would do 🐱
If so= so cute.
I realise our cat does something similar- we give her treats when she comes in to encourage her to come back in the evening- also to get her to come when we shake goodie bag.
A while ago I realised she just went out on the porch, then straight back in and then straight to the cupboard where goodies are, alternatively jumping up in the window where we normally give her the goodies.. cracked me up when I realised she did an obligatory 2 second ‘trip’ outside in order to get her treat 😹
Billi: Look Zoom Zoom
Mom: You want to look at Zoom Zoom?
Billi: Yeah, it looks really trippy after that catnip
"If I can't have fun, at least I can get stoned."
Billi: "Wanted to play fan toy & worm, but then I got high." 🎵🎶
Also Billi: "Now I've got the munchies too, because I got high." 🎶😺
Final Billi: "So hurry up with those pets, and you know why-yyy...because I got high, because I got high, because I got high..." 🎶
@@CynAnne1 🤣 Yes!!!
1:04 that look right into the camera is just the best. 😆
Billi is the Queen of Mad Looks.
that look is for us (viewers). "Someone tell my Mom I'm queen"
Those are my favourite parts of Billie’s videos 😂
Love it!
The hardest workout is being patient :)
The zoomzoom is not quite so mesmerizing to humans as it is to stoned kitties!
lmao, so zoom zoom would be one of those clips in those "watch when you're high" compilations xD?
"you ever just stop and look at zoom zoom?" -Billy probably
"Play mood's lost now, Mom!" -- pouty Billi, probably 😾
Cuteness overload in my heart when cats use their paws to grab and move things. 😩🥰
Billi at 1:02 - "Look, interwebs, look at the depths of neglect and abandonment that I'm being subjected to here!!!" 😿
You cannot convince me that Billi is incapable of complex thought.
Billi - food
Mum - you need excersize before food
You can literally see her thinking about that! Then she asks for worm to satisfy Mum so she can score food! That is a highly intellegent mind at work!
Her stare into the camera makes my day. 😺
Videolog, "How to train your hooman", today entry:
"Today mom is eating too much and became less responsive to command to physical activities together. Even showing the compromise to use the food mouse, to teach her that is possible to have the pleasure to eat meanwhile doing some exercises, or giving her the possibility to try zoom-zoom, didn't bring a great result. Session concluded with a well deserved snack for me."
- Billi, probably...
It gives me so much existential dread to think how much more minds are locked away in their imperfect for communication bodies. Same thing about people. There are so much of us but we speak over 7k different languages and don't understand each other. My dream is humanity achieving a point where every sentient being would be able to talk to any other one.
She’s so funny, I’m obsessed 😂 does the bare minimum workout and goes “okay, all done. Food now 😌” Billi knows what she’s about
She IS persistent!
It's the equivalent of grabbing repeatedly mom's jacket sleeve and asking: "Mom, can we go now?" 🙄 "Can we go already?"
That face though when she’s not trying to press the button 😹
I love when she looks into the camera
My gosh she's smart! I can't believe it. She knew you wanted her to work for her food.
Yeah, so she did minimal effort to appease Kendra…so she could get her food 😂
1:02- (Billi gives an aside glance to the camera) "Do you all see what I have to deal with here?"
After she first pressed fan toy and you said after you finish eating, she stopped like she was thinking, Wait- we let the servants eat??? When did I sign off on that!
This reminded of the scene in the movie A Christmas Story when they're at the dinner table and Ralphie's narration said "My mother hasn't eaten a hot meal in 14 years" 😂
The way she scoops up her food with her itty bitty paws...
Cats are like toddlers.
1:01 Billi breaking the 4th wall haha
I will push all the buttons I can that will makes you come to me 😂😂😂 smart girl ❤
Billy is so cute when she is patient. ☮️
She looks in the camera like “Witness me…..I can be a patient cat” 😸
Billie breaking the fourth wall at 1:08
"patient kitty" looks thoroughly annoyed! LOL
My cat sits on the desk watching Billi videos with me.
Love Billi's thinking prowling - gotta do a circle while she considers a button - and it made my realize my own cat does something similar! It's amazing how there are these kinds of animal body language things that just don't "click" for us until they're put into context!
I’m so blessed that my cat understands ‘wait’ and ‘wait quietly’.
Wait until Billi meets a huski and learns a new wait to get attention. Just meow loudly, non-stop.
I feel like this one was made for me - my cat is fluctating from being very patient to being that persistent if not a little more (at one point two days ago she was so worked up she was literally standing on 4 buttons at once and making them all go off). Refreshing to see a seasoned cat won't be discouraged.
Sylvie (my kitten) and I are in this phase of "press toy button* > *watch mom play with the toy by herself* > *walk off like "yep she still knows what that is"*. Can't tell if it's the weather, or if I'm just that boring to a 7 month old cat lol! We're up to Feather Toy, Rope, All Done, Yes, No and Train. I really need to get her more because I think she's trying to expand her vocabulary but doesn't have the buttons (hence the button press, watch me do the thing, but then walk off). It's a hard balance between keeping up with her brain and not overwhelming her at the same time.
WOW. She is so freakin smart, it blows my mind!
Billi can barely bring herself to pretend anymore :)
Maybe is I press every button, she will get up 😂
I just gotta laugh that with the free pieces of food in the bowl, Billi just takes them out one at a time. Silly cat! Also I think this was more of a "pay attention to me" marathon lol
cats don't like it when their whiskers touch the sides of a bowl so that might be why she takes one at a time
@@noodlefeather Exactly. The space looks a little small for her to put her face into.
@@sylviawarner4424 its a type of a slow feeder i think! billi has digestive issues and i believe eating too fast would give her a tummy ache
@@nikodemjelonek8420 Yes, I remember reading that before, so it’s a good thing that it slows her down. 🙂
@@noodlefeather The bowl is designed to slow down her eating.
“Fine! If you won’t play with me right now then I’m going to get high, stare into the zoom zoom and then get the munchies.”
That look she gives the camera before pressing "play" 🤣
"Mom, I'm afraid that is just unacceptable. Clearly my play is far more important than your insignificant nutritional needs." -Billi, probably
Zoom Zoom was to teach you to catch food - hence Look - she is teaching you as a kitten
😄 She's funny! Also, so cute the way she scoop's the food out of her bowl. 🤗🧡
Billi’s like “fine. You eat, I’ll eat, then you best play with me”
2:48 "Look at that magnificent miracle, Mother!"
3:09 "Why are you not entertained, Mother?"
3:20 "Enough! You are not worthy of this beauty."
3:34 "Now, feed me!"
Such a funny storyline here! Thanks for sharing this epic saga 😄
I've spent the past 4:52 Looking at Billi and that was a serious workout, now... Food
That deliberate walk over the catnip… 😅
My cat negotiates the meaning of the word later with me by saying “soon” “later” or “later” “now”. 😂
“I waited and watched you, so now it’s your turn, ma! … oh wait, I should have asked for food, instead of waiting. Duh (eye roll). I will be smarter next time”
OK, this episode was like "OMG XD!" Billi.
Billi’s more of a mental gymnastics cat
aww she gets the food with her little paws too 🥺🥺 my cat does that, it’s very cute
Billi been like: OH, NOW YOU WANNA PLAY? Now you only get to look.
Suprised no mad
Farmer's rules: You don't eat until the animals have.
Well that was the longest list of demands in recent history.......
That's my sort of workout, too, Billi!
🤣 Billy is absolutely amazing
I would be dying of love if I had a very like this in the house 😍
She really demanded everything there was to demand.
sits in patience, something not to say about billy...
Billi looking at the camera like she’s on The Office. 1:03
Lazy hoomin, taking a food break while I'm awake! -Billi (probably)
🤣this was the funniest Billi video yet. 💖 loved it.
That's hilarious when the cat makes you get up and down. You got more work out than the cat did.😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Billi is like me...look at all the work I need to do...then eat a bunch of food.
It seems like part of her training is teaching her to manage her expectations.
"I dunno about play now, mom -- the catnip just hit."
lol i know that routine without the words it's i'm bored fix it now. shadow starts his carrying his bearry and hollering then brings it up and drops it on me, kitty slobber facing skin. next he gets behind me and pokes me in the middle of the back with one claw and runs off repeatedly and finally he sucks on my face, knowing my aversion to kitty spit until i give in, quit working and take a cat play break
YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK on training and teaching how to speak, Et cetera! Or maybe a DVD? Here I see that you are feeding her in correlation to how much she plays. If she plays for a short time, then little food is given to her. That's a good way to keep her from getting fat! You're learned so very much, it's difficult for us to take it all in on these short videos.
Billi knows what she wants and won't stop until she gets what she wants.
She knows the words, fan toy, play, come, catnip it’s very impressive, it’s all about the food though 😂
I'm just discovering this. It's so off-the-charts amazing. The look on Billi's face seems to be an unending disbelief and fascination that this is actually happening, lol. That she's actually communicating with the humans, and being understood and all. I'm eager to see these animals progress into really understanding emotions, and expressing them. I know there's a "mad" button, but I'm thinking that's more about discontent or disappointment. If "dad" was gone for a while, would she be able to say she's sad? Maybe it would help if she could? I'm also wondering if she could learn some of these things by watching a video of them. Like a person crying, and teaching her that is "sad."
Billie and cats like her remind me of the Harvard parrot, there life spans are so low we will never know the true extent of their commuication skils.
the parrot knew 200 words and tons of phrases but because of its limited life we dont know what the extent would have been.
I love her unusual little kitty requests. 🥰
Oh no, her scheduled got all delayed xD Poor Billi
Thanks! Billi gave me a message from the Universe.
She has the cutest face I can't😄
You are living with a comedian 😂😂😂
The obligatory play before food.😂
Such a smart Cat. Love.
Billi is pretty smart. She’s a cutie
Billi videos always make me happy. She reminds me of my cat that passed over the rainbow bridge in 2019 at the ripe old age of 18. She had a very similar personality to Billi, and I wish I’d had the opportunity to teach her to communicate this way. 💕
You are nicer than I am. If I were in your shoes, after the 3rd request it'd woulda been "Billy, go look for dad" regardless of if he's home or not.
