I'm not sure if this was mentioned in the description. If anyone is wondering about the cloth she is sewing the applique on, it is called Aida cloth. You can find it at any fabric store. It looks very easy to work with. I never thought of using this type of material for anything but cross stitch. I will have to try this. It turned out very cute.😊
I thought AIDA was divided into two by two thread blocks, and had holes in it.
@@nisebiggs6572 I sent an explanation regarding Aida cloth. It was removed. Search Aida cloth. Was just trying to be helpful.
The cloth she used does look a lot like Aida cloth, but I think that it's something different. A commenter below stated it was probably Monk's Cloth, which is similar to Aida cloth, but softer and with a nice drape to it. My money is on the Monk's Cloth in this case.

Regarding the cloth used, I believe it is Monk's Cloth which is a soft gridded cotton, typically used in rug hooking, not Aida cloth which is much more rigid fabric. I really enjoyed the applique method shown here. No glues. Also enjoyed that the seam allowance is sewn down and ready to be attached to the backing fabric without first having to be needle turned. Also enjoyed the joining of pieces together via the back so the entire unit can be sewn down on the background all at once. Well done. Thank you.

Quite a few extra steps here than is necessary. When I appliqué, I use a washable ink and mark my design on top of my fabric background, and on top of my pieces to be cut with a seam allowance. I then use needle turn applique to stitch directly onto the background. No need to baste, or sew down the seam allowance to the back of each piece. It is definitely a beautiful design though and I love that she has drawn this herself. Cutest wee kitty I have seen in some time. I also realized later she was stitching onto AIDA cloth which is lovely to stitch on but the holes and texture would not usually make a nice pillow. Great in a frame. I would stitch this onto wool, or cotton quilting cloth to make a pillow. But we all use what we have. ❤❤❤
