    I love the pointers you mention. How much air to keep in the lungs. Don’t hold your breath during the drills. Take a breath before you need it. Chin higher than your forehead. These are the sayings that are helpful that the average teachers don’t mention. You help a lot of people with what you do. I love this video.

    I am 58 almost 59 years old and I started learning to swim last October and just love it!!! I'm still learning more and more every day. Im just having a hard time catching on to the breathing part. With more and more practice, I will eventually get it. Swimming has helped me so much with my knees. I was in constant pain until I got in the water on a regular basis. I recommend swimming to anybody with joint problems.

    Learned front crawl and breaststroke in one year from last July as my reward for retiring. I watched youtube coaches. I go to the pool almost everyday. Now I put in 1500m each pool time. 400m is with paddles. Sometimes i use fins and snorkel to circle the pool. Sometimes i use a float belt to jog in deep end. I can bi breathing even though it took a lot of time and frustration to get good at both sides. I was afraid of water but always wanted to tackle the fear. I lost 25lb since I got into swimming. I can sing way better than before. I am tanned without trying. I want to get good at back stroke, flip kick, butterfly, and open water. It may take years but I am retired and have nothing to lose.

    • @RocketSwimming
      @RocketSwimming  Год назад +2

      That's an incredible journey you've embarked on in just one year! Learning front crawl and breaststroke, conquering your fear of water, and even improving your fitness and overall well-being is truly commendable. Keep up that positive attitude, and enjoy your retirement to the fullest by exploring the world of swimming and its various strokes. It may take time, but every stroke and lap you practice will bring you closer to your goals. Swimming is not just about physical prowess; it's also a wonderful way to embrace a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Keep swimming and enjoying the journey! 🏊‍♂️💪😊

    Hi Johnny,
    Love from India. I've always enjoyed being in the pool and wanted to learn to swim since I was a child. My parents were always against it claiming that if I learned to swim in a pool, I would be overconfident and jump into the ocean or the river, while I go out with my friends and drown. Two years back I made the decision to learn and started taking swimming lessons. They taught me with a air filled tube around my body. They never taught me how to breathe and freestyle was taught with my head outside the water. They never taught me how to swim with my head submerged. I was struggling with freestyle and I finally quit after 2 months. I thought I would never be able to swim.
    I came across your videos recently and practiced your drills. I am swimming now!!! I feel like I am gliding through water with very little effort. I am no where near perfect but I can feel that I have improved. Swimming coaches always tells us what to do, but what you do differently is that you tell us how each of our actions are supposed to feel. This a rare method, but it is very effective. I am able to correlate the feelings and correct myself if something feels wrong. I am extremely thankful for your videos, and I can accomplish my long lost dream now. Thanks a lot!!.

    • @RocketSwimming
      @RocketSwimming  Год назад

      It's wonderful to see your determination and the progress you've made in learning to swim.
      I assume that swimming is still not a mainstream sport in India and it's rare to find qualified swim instructors. It'll improve in few years as swimming as a sport and recreational activity is starting to pickup.
      What's great is that you have learned to overcome the obstacles. I am really glad that you have stumbled across my channel and learned swimming by watching my videos. My goal is to teach swimming to everyone in this planet and online videos is the best way to reach people across the world.
      Remember that progress in swimming, like any skill, takes time and practice, and it's fantastic that you're determined to accomplish your long-lost dream of swimming. Keep up the good work, stay safe in the water, and continue enjoying your swimming journey. If you have any more questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask. Happy swimming!

At the age 20 year old I went diving off boat with no experience or no swimming experience for that matter and tried to learn how to swim immediately when I drifted a way from the boat while feeding the fishes lol I was able to get back to the 🛥️ (no one else was around everyone went scuba diving ) while I was busy 🤿 🐠

    I must say man this is a beautiful place to learn how to swim, the pool, the ambience. I think it really helps with getting over the fear of water. I’ve always found a giant pool indoors very intimidating, almost like you’re in a dome with a very dark undertone. The sunshine and view here definitely makes it look more comfortable for beginners. This is so important, I wish I could learn from you but I’m in Australia 😂

    • @RocketSwimming
      @RocketSwimming  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much for your kind words! Creating a comfortable and inviting space is crucial, especially for those overcoming the fear of water. I completely understand the sentiment about large indoor pools feeling intimidating, and I'm pleased that our setting appears more welcoming to beginners. It's unfortunate that we're miles apart in Australia, but I appreciate your virtual presence and support! If there's anything specific you'd like to see or learn about in future videos, please feel free to share. Happy swimming down under! 😄🏊‍♂️

    Happy I found this channel and this video. Good i learned how to float before (*funny but it was a 10-yr old niece of my officemate in pool during an office summer outing who taught me not to be afraid so I would not sink. That I need to lift my chin so I don't take in water. I grew up in the city where we didn't go swimming as a family) and even if underwater use breastroke but freestyle kicks when I got washed away by an undertow. My officemates were calling me to join them already on the beach & I remembered I just used 2 sets of left & right arm strokes then afloat my head to breathe but when I turned around I couldn't touch the sand anymore. Underwater I did straight legs kick and fast breakstroke arms and was tired until I saw the legs of my female officemate and threaded water to reach the seashore & coughed. One guy officemate was even shouting to me I've drank a lot of water. When I look at my female officemate, she was far back from the group, so that mesnt I was even farther than her. What went on my mind when I couldn't touch the sand was this is not the way I'm going to die. So even if I"m not really a swimner, in fact recently learned that time to float but watching swimming at Olympic Games, I imitated the movements. Thank God just when I was feeling exhausted, I saw my officemate's legs. All the while I swam underwater holding my breath because I don't know how to breathe like in divimg. Through your drills, I know know now the half pineapple how to breath on side, and the claw which I saw in swimmers, and the body swaying while pushing away water. I get tired easily because I didn't know the ok hand and really push water with opem palms. And not needed to have my whole body up over the water as I thought seeing swimmers look like that. Thank you.

    New subscriber and learning to be a competent swimmer…watching your lessons, some more than once. Helps to see you teaching a non swimmer and your comments. Thanks. I’m learning so much…I can take what I’ve learned to the pool. Simple things such as breathing…❤. Captions helpful as reminders. Example of helpful info is reasons to use the kick board and stretch out…then pick your head up

      Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our swimming lessons and for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you find Jonny's teaching helpful and that you're learning so much.
      Remember to always take it slow and steady when learning to swim, and don't be afraid to take breaks when you need to. Keep practicing what you've learned, and you'll be swimming like a pro in no time! And don't forget to have fun while you're at it. Thanks again for your support, and happy swimming!

      @@RocketSwimming I’ll stay in touch as I progress…our small city has a first class Y with pool and plenty of lap time and attentive life guards. I’ve got goggles and fins. I hope this encourages anyone who has fears or is shy about “trying”…these videos will help anyone succeed in small steps…
      I started out with pool volleyball and aqua fit classes 3x week. Thank you Rocket Man!

      It's great to hear that you're making progress with your swimming and that you have access to a great pool with attentive lifeguards. It's also encouraging to hear that you started with activities like pool volleyball and aqua fit classes - those can be a fun way to ease into swimming and build up confidence in the water.
      Your positive attitude and willingness to take small steps is definitely an inspiration for others who may be hesitant to try swimming. Keep up the great work, and I hope you continue to enjoy your swimming journey!

    Hi Rocket! I would like to ask you two questions for beginning to swim: I tried to use kick board to kick but go nowhere. I mean not move forward? and why I feel tired easily? please let me know why if you have time. I really enjoy watching your video, very details and helpful. thank you very much for useful and helpful video.

      I guess you're bending your knees too much. Try to kick from your hips like a wave motion and your feet should be near the surface. Boil the water with your feet. Try this technique and let me know how it goes for you, okay?
