You'd be surprised at just how many punk bands rip off one or more riffs from Symptom of the Universe I have been noticing it for years and it has driven me crazy.
It could have been a coincidence, but I think it has to do with G-Zet's band leader Tam going deep into hiding from the yakuza some time in the 80's until he was confirmed to have passed in 2011 by former bandmate Michiro Endo of The Stalin. The reissue came out a year later in 2012. If I had to guess, I'd say that no one was able to contact Tam to get his blessing for a re-release while he was alive, but it all passed through pretty quickly after he passed away.
