Where the escalators are to the beach there used to be steps called the cardiac arrest, they were well named! Walked up and down them many times. First went to Albufeira in 1992 and at that time the fishermen unloaded their nights catch on the beach.

Hi guys! I was born and raised in Albufeira and I have moved across the country (living in Porto for around 3 years now). We are constantly "teased" (or rather judged) by the rest of our countrymen for being essentially a British colony (we cater to tourists the same way the rest of the country does, still!) but I miss it dearly. I always visit in the Summer and become a tourist myself! Thanks for coming!

Was there last week on a stag do. Was brilliant. Bars and clubs everywhere, lovely restaurants, food was brilliant, people were amazing, even the strip was really good fun. Nice & clean, lots to see and do. Would definitely go back!

Hey guys , great video, really relaxed and cheerful. Just two small notes, Albufeira isn't the biggest town in the Algarve. Portimão, Faro, Olhão, Loulé, Quarteira, Lagos and Albufeira are, in that order, the biggest ones.
The second note is that, according to tradition, the arch you went through in the old town, if you're crossing as a couple, you should try NOT to breath as that will bring luck to your relationship...

I think the best way to live is STAYcation! If we really love a place, makes you feel happier, healthier, grateful, why we can't live there?
I think once we found a special place and it is possible to do remote work or start a business there, we really need to take that step further and enjoy life...life is just too short and we can't only enjoy it once we are retired, so i think you did the right choice, if you feel happy you certainly did the right choice!
I don't know if someday i also travel to Ireland and fell in love with the country and could start a STAYcation there...by the way i love irish people! In Portugal we really admire irish people because just like the portuguese in the past we needed to work really hard to have a better life we also are immigrant countries and we know how to be brave if we needed! we lived in Olhos de Água nice place , the beach is nice and you can walk to the next beach a bit hilly but fine and there is a nice little spot there you will find it,

Hi there, all throughout the algarve there has been significantly lower tourists, obviously because of the times in which we live, it’s kinda nice tho because many of the places are quite relaxed with fewer people around. ☺️

Did you take your car there or rent a car while staying there? If you rented a car what is the cost? Also would you want to live in old town square? Or do you think it would be to busy?
We rented a car from portimao with a company called Guiren car rental, cost about €20 per day. We lived in portimao so only visited Albufeira for the day, plenty of activities there, the old town is really nice and the beach is fab, for nightlife you can visit the strip with has plenty of bars and nightclubs.

I'm visiting Albufeira in September, but we won't be hiring a car so I was wondering if everything you showed in your vlog was within walking distance? ie. the marina, beach, bars etc. Thanks :) loved watching this!
Thanks so much, really hope you have a great time in Albufeira 🙏 Everything within the Old town and beach are walking distance, the only things to may need a taxi for our The New town/Strip and the Marina, could possible be too much for walking. The Old town and the beach are right beside each other.

That’s a good question, both countries are different to each other, Portugal is obviously a lot warmer and has some beautiful beaches, then again Ireland is beautiful in its own way also, it hard to choose 🤪 both are beautiful 🤩

Can you elaborate on what it's like having a car there long term? How are you paying the tolls? Do you have an electronic pass? Is parking expensive?
Hi there, we pay tolls ourselves in the local post office. You can pay with an electric pass but you do have to pay up front at the car rental company. We decided to just pay the tolls as we use them. In relation to parking we often find free parking, however as you reach summer months ie. June - September free parking becomes a little harder. Also, the cost of car rental increases once you get into summer months also.
One huge recommendation we could say is renting a car, especially in algarve. It gives to so much more options to see more places.

The beach is Albufeira beach, its right beside the old town, its a beautiful beach...the one at the end of this video is beside the Marina

Colorfull buildings usually means its a more problematic zone "dangerous " so police and tourist can identify it better !

Hey Joel! Not in this case, this is just the architect's style. There are way more problematic areas in Albufeira :(
This is just categorically untrue, the architecture at the time was very colourful and the locals repaint when required to keep the colours there. Such an odd myth you have there.
