The whole city was one party because of the magic of the show.. Ayreon fans are the best and very appreciated by the musicians & singers. A weekend to never forget!!
Great reaction to a great song. And this is one of those songs that actually keeps growing on you: this is about the 15th time I hear it, and it keeps getting better with every listen... And you'r spot on: He's doing Broadway stuff, in Tilburg... But that is part of what makes the guy so special. He has his unique creative visions and he does things in his own way. The keyboardist, Joost (pron. "Yoast") van den Broek is his right hand man, who does a lot of the arranging for the stage performance and who is an allround musical master (teacher at the conservatory, keyboardist from After Forever and many of Arjens projects, producer for Epica and Blind Guardian, etc. etc.). Floor was't able to join in this time, because just around this time she was in the last stages of her pregnancy. But Britney Slayes did a great job of filling in for her and singing her parts.
My brother and I travelled from the south of Chile to Tilburg to attend the show. We were in the previous day of this recording, but it was also a great experience. Ayreon did 5 shows of almost 3 hours each one in a weekend. They are amazing!
I am a huge Unleash the Archer's fan and my Canadian pride was beaming seeing Vancouver's own Brittney Slayes replacing Floor ( who was probably off on maternity during the time of this show) - I mean - can you imagine getting the call from Arjen to fill in for the one and only Floor on an epic Ayreyon production. Brittney proved she belongs on that stage with the rest of Arjen's super voices.
I didn't know her before attending this concert... She was definitely the biggest surprise of the concert (and a little endearing because she forgot to leave the stage all the time😂)
Floor was on or at least very near her due date of her latest pregnancy, so she couldn't be there. Her sister Irene is a regular in the Ayreon backing vocals. Arjen is the guy in the red coat, yes. He only was on stage as a singer in this show. (I was there). Joost is the man on the keys and he's in fact the mastermind of getting the whole live show side of things arranged, so he's the one we have to thank we have these live shows.
That was not Floor, but her sister Irene who has been one of Ayreon’s Angels for a long time. Floor actually plays a role on the Album, but unfortunately was not available for the show. Her parts were covered by Brittney Slayes from Unleash the Archers.
Arjen is a master in picking the right singer for the right song or part of the song. For instance the menacing voice of Jonas Renske is so well chosen for those menacing parts of this song. Originally Floor did the parts on the album version but she wasn’t able to be there. Arjen came up with a very worthy replacement to do Floor parts, Britney Slayes (Hayes) She really SLAYED those parts. Up on the scaffolding was Floors sister Irene, and yes she looks a lot like Floor so a mistake is easely made😉 The whole concert was an incredible experience and one I will never forget!
What's crazy is that with all that talent, the tickets were only like $80 each! Obviously there was a huge travel cost unless you lived near Tilburg, but if you turn it in to a full vacation like we did, visiting Paris and Antwerp as well, then it's cheaper than 5 days at Disney World!
yeah, it cost me a pretty penny for my wife and i to fly from South Carolina in the US.... but dang, was it worth it for a once in a lifetime experience
They are 'really" cheap considering the number op people involved and limited shows, (5 in 3 days). But he knows that since he aint traveling, so not to overprice and make it an experience for those who do with activities all weekend like movies, campsite and store performances ect.. He just figures, you make it an unforgettable thing, show it to the world and those whom could not attend wil buy the dvd. I believe 75% of those attending did order the dvd... I sure did, and it's enough for him to do what he does...
OMG to say this was awesome would be an understatement. To me it sounded like you took a mix of Pink Floyd, Styx, Black Sabbath and Andrew Lloyd Webber and made a song out of it. I may have to change my top 5 bands of all time again for the second time in 5 years. Nightwish is added already and now I need to add Ayreon.
The keyboard player you were talking about is Joost van den Broek. former keyboard player off After forever. He became a producer and engineer after his band called it quits. I think he has done all Epica albums since 2007. and has done many other producer things. But also still ikes to get on a stage sometimes. Joost and Ed Warby the madman on the drums are 2 off the main Ayreon bandmembers. I could try to write them all down. but thats over 20 people. also one fun fact. one off the backing singers is Irene jansen a sister off Floor Jansen
What a great song!!! Arjen rules. This is the absolute top of prog rock. If you want to be happy, just listen to this song... Desperaty awaiting the DVD. This is the first example. I was there at the show in 2023. They still remove the goosebumps on me. A once in a lifetime experience!!!!
Thank you for reacting to this great song! I've been there and it was epic! Hopefully you'll be the first to react to the whole show on May 17th when the whole show will be released!
Hi! Glad you liked it! That wasn't Floor. That was Irene, her sister. Floor was pregnant at the time, so Brittney (Unleash the Archers) replaced her (Floor's character in the album). Arjen is the creator of Ayreon and he always works with Joost (keys) since the early 2000's. Joost is a mega producer working with bands such as Blind Guardian and Powerwolf, in his studio on the Netherlands.
Red coat was Arjen indeed. He plays Guitar and some bass now and then. Well he plays a lot but on stage it's 4-7 strings. The keyboardist is Joost van den Broek aka LUL
Floor was supposed to be there when Arjen contacted the usual suspects during preparations. Floor got pregnant however and after she collapsed in june last year after a Nightwish concert in Finland, she was forced to take a rest until giving birth to Lucy early October. The concert was mid September, so it would be impossible in any case.
At the time the vocalists were announced (Oct 2022) she was still dealing with cancer and wouldn't find out until a month later that she was cancer free, so that may have had more to do with it than a pregnancy (since she wasn't pregnant yet).
Was Floor supposted to be there? I know Arjen wrote a song for Brittney Slayes ,wich they also perform in this show,so, i think it was already decided that Brittney would do this show.🤔
Nope, you didn't see Floor on the top. That was her sister Irene! Floor wasn't available that weekend, so that's why Arjen got a more than very worthy replacement in Britney Hayes!
My wife and I made the trip to see this concert. Amazing show. People from over 60 countries attended the Ayreon shows.
so proud of my son who plays the guitar so beautifully.
He really did a great job!

I was there! It was one of my bucket list items, and was lucky to be able to make it.

I'm sure Brittney felt some goosebumps when that call came ...🤘
I didn't know her before attending this concert...

Yes and Brittney did Canada proud for sure.

Floor was unable to be involved in this. but Irene was there
I am glad I saw that show, it was insane.

Still can't believe we were there ...EPIC

Wasn't Floor but her sister Irene instead😁😉
And i agree, these songs need to be unending, God....that would be something right?
hmmm, as long as the maestro 🙏 decides to write short songs, I'm listening to this one in endless repetition ❤.
Thank you for reacting to this great song! I've been there and it was epic! Hopefully you'll be the first to react to the whole show on May 17th when the whole show will be released!

And EPICA!!!!
So much talent in that stage!🤘🎸
Not Floor, its here sister Irene, also a fantastic singer

Remember he is Sir Joost. He was knighted.

What a fitting name Brittney has, she does indeed Slayes! 🤣

Yep she made this old Canadian proud for sure.
Floor wasn’t there. This was in September, Floor was kind of busy having a baby.🤘🎸
