switchback is my fav, very satisfying if done right. divebomb can black flag you its too risky, especially if your against people who just want to have fun and dont really know what to do if someone does a overtaking maneuver on them
My local track has a segment of a right and then left hairpin, with the left hairpin having a barrier that extends about a foot and a half back into the track and towards the racing line (forming a bit of a hook shape). If you can get to the inside of the kart ahead during or in the exit of the first hairpin, you can squeeze them wide (without contact) towards the barrier as you approach the braking zone. Usually they decide to back out and concede the position before you need to give space, and even if they don't, you can swing wide before the braking zone and get a guaranteed switchback coming into the following fast sector because of how tight they are to the apex. Controlling how much track the other driver has to play with, and playing a bit of chicken with them, is a good way to make them second guess themselves, and put them on uncomfortable portions of the track to gain relatively free positions
Divebomb is soooo risky in rental karting. Basically, you should expect that they will never leave you space or even be aware of you. So high chance you will be pushed back straight into the corner barrier at your full speed
yeah... I tried one today, and saw he wasn't going to leave a space even though I was at this point well ahead, so I stayed off the brakes to avoid the collision and shunted myself into the barrier. Caught him a half a lap later and used the technique I spoke of in my other comment. My ribs hurt....
My way to overtake is to intimidate the driver in front. A lot of inexperienced drivers won't have the audacity to go fast in the corner so I just tailgate them to force them to overshoot. I might have the weight disadvantages but I have so much commitment on corners that a lot of them have no choice but to let me pass.
I do the same, and when I overtake them I try to go slower force them into a mistake and look back, that angry face and bumping against the steering wheel is just too funny
When getting dive bombed since it's a desperate overtake, don't consede the position hold your line and give them room but don't back of.they will bump you and be surprised you weren't shaken and you have the inside to the next corner hopefully and you push them outside like they did you on the dive bomb
Recently I got to ride in a go kart with my gf. The way everything beautifully fell into place after racing on the F1 game with my steering wheel, that excitement sent me over the moon
@@larsvandewouw55 because of this nickname, i do my best to vary and make as different overtakes as possible. For me racing pleasure is the most important and bc my local track is a high speed circuit i want to avoid contacts as much as possible. Having fun and being nice is more important for me than bumping everyone
What do you do when dealing with the agro noobs who both suck at driving and constantly look back at you to block your every attempt to pass? SO frustrating but I haven't found a good way to manage that. So annoying when they singlehandedly just wreck your lap times.
If you run directly behind them, bumper to bumper, when they have to brake for a corner you can then use their kart as your brakes. This will make their kart totally understeer and push wide. Leaving the inside line completely open for you. Just one thing though.... Don't get caught. Marshalls don't really tend to approve. 😂😂
some of these look _as_ dangerous as that guy who was trying to purposely block and shunt your friend off this same track. How do we find the balance between truly dangerous and acceptable dangerous overtakes?
My favourite overtake technique is to get a better speed in a corner and when we get to a straight, I just activate the “human drs” and overtake them haha
1:08 - on my track, this move is considered illegal and results in penalty points. It's only legal if you are in front on the apex. On the video, you were not.
@@aaronflores21af again, divebombing is clean when you are relatively close to your opponent which allows you to reach the apex first. This video contains a bad example, that's it.
Hi ktips im going karting this Friday in lusail and I was wondering if you could give me your discord , I wanted to talk to an experienced driver and learn from the best. If you find a time can I book it with you. I also want to join the academy so can you give me some 1-1 tips
Common one seen at my local track is for beginners - wait for a red flag and send it past half the field before noticing. Works every time.
😂😂
It may work. But basically it's cheating, and I wouldn't have thought it to be very satisfying.
But each to their own I suppose.
@@jasonclark3057beginners do it because they don't spot the flag quickly enough, not for satisfaction!
So just become Lance Stroll?

1:04 - beautiful move. The honey badger would be proud
these big open air tracks look awesome! Only been karting indoors
I stick to the racing line and wait for an opportunity, but I'm tailgaiting to add pressure and force them to overshoot
lol what a move

100% the switch back was my favorite move on the track
They call me the divebomb Guy at my local go karting place
Probably not a good nickname since if you do it every time its easy to defend against. You probably go hard on the inside and bump them

Gotta be the good old switchback for me!
I usually do the outside since I don't struggle with finding grip or oversteering
My favorite is a dummy thrown around the outside
My favorite is the switchback.
Switch back has my preference.
It's the cleanest over take
The way I over take is going in the inside than trying to push the driver to the outside so I can pass cleanly
I wait for the mistake and if he makes no mistakes look and wait for.the dive bomb on the second to last lap
