You got the right idea and Eternize definitely has one of the best tutorials out there, but I'll share my own tips as an degenerate who has done those sausages for ten years: - About punch. I usually think the punch as three different layers. The initial click (aka tok), the lowmid-high character layer (before tail starts) and low end. Leave a gap between tok and low end so that lows don't eat the snappiness. As a character layer you could use the punch of your serum kick or any kind of little noisy/lazery sound. This can overlap with the punch if the end result sounds good. - About tail. It's easy to start over complicate the tail process so I like to use more "fuck around and find out"-style. If you are going for the 2012-2015 mid heavy crunch you are doing the right thing by lowering sub and bass before distortion to get that nice crunch. Asymmetrical distortion also works wonders on crunchyness (I go crazy with Trash2). You can do few eq, dist, eq, dist combos in the chain and you can even try cutting low end before distortion (never linear eq) to get some weird crunches. Now export few of your creations and stack two of those on top of each other in the arrangement section. Now start introducing phasing by moving them off sync just a tiny bit and witness weird phasing crunch action (tails full mono). Have those layers in mixer channels with eq's and try some weird cutting or low end reduction. You can even try stretching layers assuming you keep them in the same key. There are basically no rules to this and you can do the stacking in which way you like. You can have the stacked layers in serum too if you so desire, but that is just the way I do it because it's enough simple for my unga brain. Then when you get the good stuff out of that process you can just cut the low end and replace it with what ever low end you like. Enjoy your new cool crunchy hardstyle kick. After you've gotten few good kick tails you can just try to blend them together and the fun never stops. Had to comment because I know the pain and always cool to see producers from other genres trying them out :) Rarely anyone uses home brewed hardstyle kicks.
back in the days we normally used zebra and 909 preset to start.. haha gold old days ... last time I made an hardstyle kick was around 2012 maybe used to love the genre... cant forget the hardkick10 best "tok" everybody even the professionals like frontliner, noisecontrollers, headhunterz.. have used that hahaha
Hardstyle is one of the hardest genres to produce, you was on the right path originally, and even though kicks can be produced in serum, you’re right with it being the temu approach 😆 Go watch some General Guyble and NS Audio tutorials, I learnt loads from these guys
Not bad for you first kick. The difficult thing is that there is no formula that will work every single time for everyone. It just comes down to trial and error most of the time but you learn some techniques that work for you along the way.
Just waiting for the hardstyle fans to fight over what hardstyle is

I WAITED MY WHOLE LIFE FOR THIS
❤ me too now we can be together
2:43 Sounds a lot like one of the punches Rebelion use in some of their kicks.
Interesting approach 👌
Thanks Max desperate times calls for desperate Dudaa
Funny to see you making this video right now because it seems like I'm on the same journey currently, also watched the videos you reference recently 😅
you need to eq a bit louder like 20db or so, and use a clip distortion. then, focus on the crunch/tone of the kick, you can layer the sub later
@@GalaxyPrizm thanks bro. I had a hunch about that! Ableton EQ only does 15db I believe. 🥹 I’m gonna give it another shot
@@ZenWorld Bro, Sylence just gave you feedback, one of the best Euphoric Hardstyle producers, amazing
scantraxx roots!!!!
