Using an agent to renew your passport might seem expensive, but compair the cost to having to travel to Bangkok and staying there.

I recently renewed my UK passport.
Put the application in at VFS Bangkok on 21 December and was informed it was ready to pick up on the 09 January.
Despite being told it may take 3 months.
You have 30 days to collect your new passport from the date they notify you.

I called the guy at ThaiVisaUK and after saying "hello i need to get a new british passport" he just hangs up the phone, call him again and then he hangs the phone up AGAIN.

Just give up on ThaiVisaUK as there are many other that help with care and passion. There are a few really good channels out of Pattaya ( and of course avoid the stupid ones) and if you send a few comments they will give you good contacts. Some are UK people helping UK people and not money driven as a primary goal. Lots of good people in Thailand.

Many yars ago I worked for an agency in Paris that did this for expats and I think it was already a lot more than £200, so that seems like a very good deal. Interesting!

Only 3 weeks in and Pook and Kae are getting a lot of people wishing to get onboard Dottie.
They are intentionally keeping it small to be able to offer a very personal and thorough service.
      No time wasters.

Do the agency cut the corner of the original passport before they return it (meaning invalid until the new one arrives)?

If this helps ..... Same trouble in Canada.
Thai agencies charge about 2,000 bht to help, strongly advice you use an agency for reviewing documents.
I met one lady, about 55 years old, she studied to be a cook, got a job in USA and got 6 month ongoing Visas to work. However had to work.
Canadian embassy in Bangkok takes about 4 months to look at, so 4 months to know if they ask for more info, reject, or accept.
Example, I know a few Thai in Canada, one lady is married to a Canadian, 2 children born in Canada, has a successful Canada business, and still has difficulty.
I really dont know what to say, we just keep our chin up, do our best, accept where it all goes, keep our lovely Thai Lady smiling best we can 🙏😊

just to enquire you are saying that if you use the agency and you are British you have to send the passport? under Thai law you are meant to carry that passport with you are all times. so how does that work?

    • @TheIsaanFarang
      @TheIsaanFarang  3 месяца назад +1

You simply have a copy of your passport, It is what most people do anyway.

@@TheIsaanFarang not legal you are required to carry the original at all times under Thai law. so that at any time they can stop and check the validity of your visa and 90 day reporting if you are required to do so

Please can you clarify if you get your current (expiring passport) back the same day when you apply or does that have to go to the UK with the application form etc..my reason for asking is with the current passport office strikes and possible delays..we need our passports for 90 reporting..Many thanks and All the best

@@TheIsaanFarang thank you. thought i needed facebook to see, everything popped up ok.
they seem UK specific and limited service.
I agree with you, can do all the documents and do not need an agency.
I like an agency to review and advice if anything not correct or should do different.
for my story, my thai lady and myself need advice/help with Thailand & Canada for visas, etc
The issue is Thailand people coming to Canada. It is very lenghty process of about 4 months and many are denied.
Easy to find kind people like yourself to help with countries UK, Australia, USA
      Nobody interested in Canada.
we live rural outside Udonthani, Thai/Canada relationship, so i accept we are alone on this.
good news is we found an agency, Knight Visa in Udhonthani that speak Thai and appear to have some experience?
telling you all this so you know as general information in case anyone asks you
no worry. we are happy and accept where our journey goes together and thank Buddha for blessing us to meet.

Can I just add through personal experience which is like going to hell and back to sort it out ,, your thai wife’s name HAS to match names in both passports now. We found this out when we went to renew the wife’s in the Uk second time round ,, they have changed the law now , thai passport / Uk passport names have to match !

About 5 years ago it’s never made public , people just find out when they come to renew and it’s hell to sort out , you have to get your wife’s house book name changed then her I’d card then a ton of solicitor work in the thai embassy which isn’t so bad if you’re in Thailand but if not like we wasn’t good luck you’ll need it
