Ok I'm confused. PFF sells its self on being able isolate an individuals play basicly eliminating the force multiplier of having a better WR or Oline. So how does same argument that levis's bad play in 2022 and had bad players on his team work against PFFs calling card on their grading system. Once again a PFF analyst head spins against their own system to make a point. Basicly saying their are exceptions to the PFF grading system??? If levis graded bad then he graded bad so you can't use that argument. Second with Young vs. Stroud. So if Stroud performed amazing against what seen as the best defence we have seen in college football in a while shouldn't that increase his grade and also on the biggest stage in college football. So your telling me it going to harder to take 2 accurate QBs one who is small the other who has problems with pocket awareness and play under pressure the other being small. So it's going to be easier to make Young size less a factor than teaching Stroud better pocket awareness and decision making under pressure. Pretty sure you can develop C.J.s short comming than teaching Young how to grow 3"'s and put on 15 pounds.

This episode right here is why people need to stop putting so much stock into these “experts” evaluations, CJ Stroud at 4… it’s okay to listen to for some scouting reports but they have no idea who will be successful and people take the word as gospel
They say Josh Allen is an outlier and it’ll been tough for AR to replicate I’d say Bryce is in the same boat except with Brees and I’d argue we’ve seen athletic qbs have a higher floor, brees is 1 of 1 much harder for me to see young repeat that compared to Richardson doing not even what allen did but he can be cam newton (who’s been to as many super bowls as cam)
Can your guys' audio engineer put a compressor/limiter on the final mix? Mic levels and distances are wild. Constantly adjusting volume. Great content though! Thanks, guys!
What do you think of the Alex Smith comp for CJ stroud... natural thrower of the football, great arm, but not excellent, plus athleticism, but not a high caliber athlete, smart and good reader of the pocket but still has room for growth. To me he is good/great in a lot of categories, but maybe not the best in a single one.
Someone show Sam a picture of KD and Giannis they weight the same yet they look completely different due to body composition everyday he says there is absolutely no way Bryce young is that heavy
It's not just his height. Its his playing weight. Even if you just look at last year's NFL QB's that are in the realm of the small, mobile QB's like Bryce Young (Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, Tua T. - all of them have been injury ridden the last two seasons either via standard sacks taking a toll, or leg injuries from scrambling). There is a lot of assumed risk of not having your starting QB on the field. With playoff spots being decided by close margins for most teams any games missed are crucial. The predictable model for Lamar, Tua, and Kyler is that they won't play a full season. And none of them have won much of anything of note in the playoffs to date. Who does Bryce model after that's had a large amount of success in the league to warrant the #1 pick? CJ Stroud would be my choice. Has a near perfect ball arc on his throws and very catchable with good strength to deliver at the NFL level. CJ looks like a technician.
Stroud is a better passer than fields but field’s definitely has a better deep ball plus the athleticism. Idk I still like slightly more athletic Jared Goff for stroud
I'm sorry but for me, I wouldn't touch Bryce. The size will get him hurt, eventually. Every single time a QB has some out who's smaller, they always mention how he doesn't take big hits but all of those QBs have now been injured in the NFL! Lamar, Kyler. You will get hit and hit hard. It's a guarantee.
Disagree. Better field reading and accuracy, yeah. What Young does off-script in creating when there’s nothing is elite and surpasses Burrow’s ability to do that out of college
I love how every uses the bad supporting cast non stop for will Levis but just completely ignores that Richardson didn't have any good weapons either 😂😂😂
I feel like the vast majority of this podcast was you two saying it doesn't matter that Levis and Richardson aren't accurate. They're freaky athletes so they'll be amazing QBs in the NFL!!
Bryce: super creative, smart, quick release. But his frame (not his height) is a risk, AND you guys are overrating his arm. Watch him throw a 30 yard out, he has to put everything he has into it to beat college DBs. Not For Long in the N-F-L. If, IF, he stays healthy, he can be very good, but sorry Monson, this "huge gap" you're talking about isn't there.
Like Steve over Sam's analysis. CJ Stroud is ready to play, A-RICH may never be ready, Brice will be better in a dome (Colts), Levis couldn't bat out Sean Clifford. How is he a top 10 pick?
It's dudes like these that said blacks can't play QB's in the NFL. In a few years three quarters of NFL QB's will be black QB's and these dudes will still be on the "Great White Hope" trip. "White Fear" is a sad thing.
agree that young is way better than stroud, but the weight sam puts on the fields comparison is strange to me. like sure the fact that fields was also a really good passing prospect coming out of the same offense is relevant, but at what point is that just an issue with fields? if stroud shows all the accuracy and all the anticipation on tape, your baseline should be that it's probably going to translate.
