Thinking back, I can't think of a single instance where Darnold didn't act like a pro. He's a smart guy and knows how to properly reply to loaded questions.
Apparently many in the media have completely memory-holed the 6 games Darnold started for Carolina in 2022, in which a crummy team went 4-2. Darnold is 8-3 in his past 11 starts.
I will guarantee you Zach Wilson will not be like Sam or Geno. Geno left bc of Fitzmagic and the Jets failed Sam bc they hired Adam Gase. Zach Wilson arguably had the best receiving core a young jets quarterback ever had and completely failed.
@@NB233___he literally never had a line. Let’s not create more narratives than there already are. Yes, Zach never fully matured and developed as we hoped. Yes, Zach was never properly developed by the team or the management. Two things can be true. If provided an opportunity down the line, I believe without a doubt Zach Wilson can play QB in this league.
I love how the "media" pretends they didn't play the biggest role in "framing" that S. Darnold, Goff and others were a bust. They are/were the cheerleaders, misleading stat graphic champions of the narratives. Now it's time to play it all back and say "WE" the media are the ones who said they were busts and we were wrong (specifically Goff). Rich is an all time great, so I am "not" talking about him!
Drafted into an Offense that's coached and has play calls from perhaps the greatest offensive mind to ever do it, a reliable TE and decent OL as well as Tyreek Hill who literally just won the player-voted player of the year last season despite being a lot older and playing with a "worse" QB and if we remember early Mahomes in KC, he originally leaned on Hill a *lot* for explosive plays. His defense has consistently been great and has one of the best play callers in the game as well as a beast in the middle of the DL in Chris Jones. His absence will eventually be felt to a similar degree to what Aaron Donald did for LA even if I consider AD the better player overall. If and when Reed, Jones and Kelce decide to retire, which frankly might happen all at the same time after this season if they manage the threepeat (quit while you're ahead and all that), then Mahomes would still have Steve Spagnuolo as his DC but that aside the situation is looking very different and his individual play has already seen a pretty steep drop in both of the past two seasons (at least in the regular season) and he's been so much less consistent than what we're used to. I think saying he was drafted into a good situation is an understatement if anything.
oh and the Chiefs were already looking solid enough (won their division two years in a row for the first time in decades) with game manager Alex Smith under center before Mahomes came along, so arguably while his personal stats did look great, the actual impact he had wasn't even as big as we make it out to be looking back and knowing what we know.
Tom is absolutely right to bring up the damage to Darnold's reputation. Very poor decision to cast that comment live on TV to the nation. Followed him his whole career. Has that happened to a rookie QB since? Not to my mind.
There are some teams where the QB needs the right pieces to win…Aikman, and some that don’t…Marino, Mahomes…and then some start out that way and get better…Bradshaw, Geno Smith, Stafford. Goff.
I think it's weird to put Goff in this category. He was extremely successful and McVay was hindering his growth as a player by attempting to control everything. But even further, Kupp was never healthy and in his tenure he lost AD and Kupp in the playoffs and they never went "all in" to fix his receiving options or acquiring more pass rushers. The addition of OBJ and Von Miller took that team over. They needed better edge rushers and another receiver for multiple years.
I don't buy the "accidental" liking of the post by Pierce in the slightest and I think neither do any of these guys. Pierce is exactly the kind of coach and the Raiders are exactly the kind of organization where something like this would happen. He made the comment about "business decisions", he certainly doesn't seem enthusiastic about the prospect of continuing to work with Adams now, quote: "while he is focused on getting traded, the rest of us have our eyes on the game against Denver" and all of this combined just doesn't paint a picture of the two getting along necessarily. Adams was already fed up with the Raiders organization when it was still McDaniels calling the shots from what we could see in the "Receiver" documentary on Netflix and had a very short fuse going into Pierce's tenure now in the sense that he was never going to be patient and wait for success to roll around. When you have a player of his caliber and choose to start Gardner Minshew to middling if not outright disappointing results, I think it's absolutely your job to work through that with the players and if you can't then it's common courtesy to at least respect their wishes and trade them in a timely manner. Where I disagree with Tom is the idea that Adams has enough leverage to only go to teams he likes. I think it's more so that certain teams he likes are already going to be more enthusiastic about offering up high draft picks in exchange for him. When you combine that with the fact that other than trading to a division rival, the Raiders don't really have any destinations they would refuse to trade him to, it's a pretty wide open picture. Given that Aaron Rodgers is more or less making the decisions in East Rutherford right now, I think it's incredibly likely that the Jets will just outbid any other team by a landslide because Rodgers has that kind of influence on their actions as an organization. So the money won't even have to be a deciding factor in the trade decision. It's just who offers up the most draft compensation and as a bit of a wild card to throw in there, we can also look at a handful of teams with plenty of available cap space in the next few years who also have at least a stable QB situation and could possibly offer Adams an extension. At that point it's his choice between more money and playing with the QB he likes once again and given how it played out for him last time around I think he could very well stick to following the money this time. We'll have to wait and see but I'm just saying, don't be surprised if a team like the Lions throw their hat into the ring. Giving a few less targets to Amon Ra St. Brown to preserve his health and having another talented receiver to take away attention from the deep threat of Jameson Williams could really open up and entirely new level of consistency for their offense and they have the cash to spare as well, despite having dished out massive contracts to 3 of their key contributors on offense this past off-season (St. Brown, Goff and Sewell) they are still a young team and have plenty of their stars on rookie deals. They are already making another push for a Super Bowl, they play the physical brand of football that Davante Adams LOVES and have a great offensive scheme with a talented guy behind center so he would actually have his opportunities to shine and be appreciated for it as well. Then there's the Steelers and Commanders for the very obvious reasons we've went over a million times: Both teams have overperformed on Offense in the first 4 weeks compared to expectations for them and while they have a single reliable WR, their scheme could benefit from having another guy to either eat targets, draw attention away from WR1 or both. Both are underdogs to start the year but currently leading their divisions, so a playoff appearance seems very likely and why not in that kind of situation lean into your success and add a great weapon like Adams? Again, both teams play physical football and have "tough" head coaches, they would likely be leaning on Adams a lot less for their success than team like New Orleans or New York and both teams have the cap space to not just take his contract unaltered but restructure it into a pricey extension that could pay him top money once again. Locking up a guy like Adams on a deal like that could be huge for the development of Jayden Daniels and the resurgence of Justin Fields. I don't see a reason why he wouldn't want to go there and compete immediately rather than go to teams that are already beginning to struggle.
Not sure what to make of the "accidental like" but I know I've had things popping up on my feed that I can't explain, only to find out that somehow I'm following a page/person that I have no interest in.
You are lying to yourself if you think AP did that BS on accident. The dudes a hot head making “business decisions “ And he pushed TAE out of there. Dude ain’t going to make it.
yah it grinds my gears that rich has the GOLF to call to in his own show than rather just be there for his own show. F london. Psh man someone fire this man alrdy lol =] (im joking)
Well, that’s not true at all. I just visited London two months ago for two weeks and I ate like a king every night. I’ve never been there before and I ate several different styles of food over those two weeks so… You’re not looking very hard if that’s your answer lol
So according to rich teams have to have really good players at every position to be a good qb. Gase sucked and Darnold sucked. Just like Zach wilson sucked and continually sucks. You're picked in the Top 10 for a reason. The really good QBs can overcome inadequate players and coaches
Classy move by Darnold given that everyone knows that at that time the Jets from top to bottom were failing at every level of coaching and management
Thinking back, I can't think of a single instance where Darnold didn't act like a pro. He's a smart guy and knows how to properly reply to loaded questions.
new york media ate him for lunch @johnchedsey1306
It was the ghosts that spoke to Sam.

Tom was a good host, obviously Rich is the goat but not too bad at all
Apparently many in the media have completely memory-holed the 6 games Darnold started for Carolina in 2022, in which a crummy team went 4-2. Darnold is 8-3 in his past 11 starts.
Shhhh don't kill the narrative...
Didn't he also lose one of, if not both of, those games after CMC got hurt which makes a difference to?
Loved Tom just casually calling out the teams that say people are injured leading up to a trade
Super happy for Darnold I hope he's here to stay this time. Makes you wonder if Zack Wilson can still be something some day
I will guarantee you Zach Wilson will not be like Sam or Geno. Geno left bc of Fitzmagic and the Jets failed Sam bc they hired Adam Gase. Zach Wilson arguably had the best receiving core a young jets quarterback ever had and completely failed.

Great crew and props to TJ. TJ is a gem.
Rich Eisen is such a legend. I remember him being there day 1 of NFL network.

100% with you
Mahommes could not have succeeded everywhere. That's crazy.
So true. Imagine if he'd been drafted by Bears, just for example.
He was drafted to a really good playoff team in the kansas city
Drafted into an Offense that's coached and has play calls from perhaps the greatest offensive mind to ever do it, a reliable TE and decent OL as well as Tyreek Hill who literally just won the player-voted player of the year last season despite being a lot older and playing with a "worse" QB and if we remember early Mahomes in KC, he originally leaned on Hill a *lot* for explosive plays.

Come on now rich…..you know you want devante on the jets.
Tom: Godspeed, Rich. Stay well. Eat some good food.
Rich: Good food? I'm in effing London!
Surprised the NFL wouldn't send a play by play announcer from the East coast
Doesn't make a difference
We're reaching the zenith of sports talk radio when we discuss how to say nadir properly
Or perhaps the apex? The acme?
Can't believe ur a Jets fan Rich 😂
Tom is absolutely right to bring up the damage to Darnold's reputation. Very poor decision to cast that comment live on TV to the nation. Followed him his whole career.

There are some teams where the QB needs the right pieces to win…Aikman, and some that don’t…Marino, Mahomes…and then some start out that way and get better…Bradshaw, Geno Smith, Stafford. Goff.
Jared goff was thrown out of town by Los angeles. Detroit chants his name at every chance we get. YOUR GOOD ENOUGH FOR DETROIT JARED GOFF!
He is my fav person
It's not like this is the first time Darnold has played against Jets, fcol.

WHAT IF: JJ McCarthy was going against his Jets!?
He wouldn't be. KOC stated early on that Darnold was the starter for the year.
JFK to Heathrow is 8 Hours.
Vikings just need to survive this game and get to the bye.
TJ Hockenson will be back week 7 for his revenge game at home vs the Lions too.
Hendon Hooker will bloom. No rush. A1

Dude ain’t going to make it.
All the reason you listed that need to be in place for a QB to work is why QB go to Chicago to die…. Caleb won’t last long in that city.
Nadir, conundrum per se
Cleveland and the Jets destroy their QBs.
Good Luck Aaron!!!
Missing their RT vs the Vikings pass rush too.
Raiders shd backup truck and load up for Devonte, guy’s not Jerry Rice.😊
Jared Goff’s QBR on the season is 47
Nay-DEER or NAY-dur???
Looks like both are right..
wowo wowoowow wowoowow🤩🤩

So Rich Eisen doesn’t care what his viewers think? That significantly damages my opinion of him 😡
But it raises my respect for him.
The Jets suck!
"eat some good food" how, he's in the UK! Unless he's a fan of Indian food, slim pickings lol! /s

London is the one place that’s the exception lol it’s not like they’re in Liverpool
London is one of the great food cities in the world. I’d argue that it rivals NYC. Psst, I live in NYC.
So according to rich teams have to have really good players at every position to be a good qb. Gase sucked and Darnold sucked. Just like Zach wilson sucked and continually sucks. You're picked in the Top 10 for a reason. The really good QBs can overcome inadequate players and coaches
Not true, Tom Brady couldn't have fixed that Jets team.
@@Ken_Scaletta He definitely could have. Brady could have won a superbowl with a girls flag football team
@@thegreatrenaldo7718 Not to take away from his play, but Brady was always on good teams. I'm not sure how you could think otherwise.
1st round QB's are a 30% success rate over the span. Ok average 3.2 QBs are taken in the 1st.
Your picked in the top ten opinion holds no water.
