- The CrunchLabs Masters is the third tournament of the Champions Chess Tour 2024. Based on their performances in the last CCT event, some players get to skip the first two days of this tournament. GMs Alireza Firouzja (Division I winner), GM Magnus Carlsen (Division I runner-up), and GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (Division II winner) are already in Division I and will start their tournament on July 19, with the other five players still to be determined.

The 2024 Champions Chess Tour (CCT) is Chess.com's most important event series of the year with the overall winner being crowned Tour Champion, the highest annual honor conferred by the world's largest chess platform. New for 2024, each regular season event has had its prize pool increased from $235,000 last year to $300,000-the largest ever offered for CCT events outside the Tour Finals. The pool for the Tour Finals remains $500,000 making the total available on the Tour a cool $1.7 million. Also new for 2024, the time control for every stage will be 10+2.

Alireza vs Nepo match. At different points the clocks were at [10.10 to 0.35] [8.31 to 0.24] [6.39 to .04] and Alireza ended the game with 24 seconds on his clock! He does it every time and might actually be still improving in time scrambles.

Poor Magnus's mom just passed. He played really well when you consider he just lost his mom about a week ago, but likely is very distracted. He didn't look like he was feeling great, which I guess goes without saying. Some people thought he was drinking during the game, which to me isn't relevant either way. Losing your parents is one of the hardest things we go through in life, especially if we're close to them. I wish Magnus the best and hope he takes his time. He'll get through this and continue to destroy everyone.
These two are the best commentary duo by far.

You can’t blame anything except Nepo on game 2. He always thinks the speed is gonna be so good for him. Works for average super pros. But carlsen and speed demons like Alizera just make you prove it so many times. And instead of using his time to find the winning ideas he continues to try and flag.
Alireza could find the great move in 2 second but could not find the good move in 5 minutes. What the intuition, not analysis. It work properly against Nepo after he beat magnus, but difficult against MVL in fresh condition.

Players are restricted by FIDE from representing Russia flag, so the Russian players compete under the FIDE flag.
