I think the LS mt573 may be the best value for a tractor in the 70hp-75hp range on the market. I have a dealer closer by, 200mi. away but we live in Montana so that is about as good as it gets. I bought my last tractor from the same dealership when LS was LG and went under the Montana brand name and it is( john deere green). The machine is an '06 Montana t7074 70hp tractor with a john deere 2.9l 3-cyl. (no emissions) with 760hrs. on the clock. I will trade my tractor in on the LS mt573 in the next few years. I think your channel is the best review these tractors could get seeing how you have two machines with different hrs. purchased at different times. This makes it a much more in depth and honest review. Please keep the content coming and thank you for your videos!!!!
We absolutely love the LS machine line up. We are diversifying our tractors all the time too better run our operation but the LS tractors are the far best value for the money when things get a little more in stock we plan on looking at some bigger 100 hp LS tractors in the future. Thank you for the kind words and comments
The local LS dealer recommended when changing the hydraulic fluid to use a "Universal transmission/hydraulic fluid" Just hydraulic wouldn't work as it had to say transmission as well. I know there is a "chemical standard" recommended in the manual. in looking through the manual for that unit, i noticed that LS does not use any "LS" brand fluids like they have "LS" FILTERS. They do not list any brands for their fluids. dealer said basically to use fluids that meet the chemical standard and LS filters. Deere and others recommend their own filters and fluids so i can see why. In LS, it seems fluid "standards" and LS filters. So what fluid/brand do you use for your MT5.73 for its hydraulic and transmission fluid?
we buy the AG 48 from Atwoods in our local area I believe a tractor supply also carries that if you don’t have an Atwoods available had no issues with our tractors well over 1600-1700 hours
Ok, will keep an eye out for it. I also did a bit of research and it applies to all LS tractors regarding the fluids. In the manual for an LS tractor if it says "GS CalTex" for fluids, that is from South Korea. LS was connected to them at one point via holdings. Since some brands will deny warranties if their fluids are not used, LS does not have a "Direct" link. However to reduce the chance, here is what owners can do. GS CalTex is one of South Koreas largest private oil companies. Its plant in Korea is the 4th largest all in one facility in the world. They are owned 50% by a local family and....50% by Chevron Oil Company. That's right, half American. So if you want to reduce chances of a warranty denial based on fluids, get the Chevron fluids that match the chemical standards for its function. The house brand Gs CalTex uses in Asia, India and nearly all over the world but apparently not in America is Kixx brand. After looking there, and Gs CalTex that's where the Chevron ownership came in to play.
Seems a bit easier than the XP 8101CPS looks like there is no DEF tank? What issues has the MT5.73 had? Major or minor? Did you at any point wish you got the 84 or 100 hp LS? Kinda wavering on 101 vs 73. Found out Wallenstien can make a subframe for their backhoe to fit the 73 included in the cost, they just need to scan the frame into their system to make a template but they said process won’t add to cost just 2-3 weeks lead time. 100 hp won’t need subframe though. That 73 though is tempting as control lay out is better than 6168 and maintenance appears easier. Advice?
We chose the 73 horse tractors for their size we are a mobile cutting operation so they were easier to haul around with our equipment. They do everything we need them to do however the only issues we have had are one of the tractors has had a wiring harness issue. We also chose them because there was no DEF on them the region systems on these are quite reliable and have very few issues we’ve actually had no issues. The only reason we did not go with the 100 horse at the Time was because of the DEF issue but I would consider going to a 100 horse with no problems if DEF is something you’re not afraid of.
I'm in the market for a 70hp tractor. I have narrowed it down to this tractor, and the Massey Ferguson 4707. What do you think about the tractor's durability over the long haul. Can't seem to find much information about this LS. The Massey isn't that much more in my area
We run two of the 70hp Ls Tractors and one has about 1200 hours on it and we’ve barely had any problems with it our other one has about 600 hours as long as your maintenance it and don’t abuse it they’ll will last pretty long we don’t know much about the Massey because we don’t run one but again as long as you maintenance it regularly then they are pretty durable and will last a while
