A wonderful tour. Looking forward when the floor addition is installed. We will all get a good idea on how the new place will look. Two story is very valuable for two additional good size rooms. Then when you start building a garage you will keep table saw, miter saw in a nice place. Hugs from Santa Barbara. 🤗😘🍷😎👏🌹

watching the build from the beginning (of the last house) but the update is still nice. I think the cabin is the perfect size to start. We are living in a 900 sq ft old farmhouse while the builders build the new home. You have to be efficient with use of space and you show how you are doing that in your small cabin. And can expand into a larger home.
My wife and I are getting ready to start our 24/40 cabin got a lot of good ideas from watching you build yours

Hi guys, you sure have come a long way I've been watching you since when you started building your first property. Do not read on if you're easily offended. A little boy is playing in a sandpit with a little girl he started teasing her and he pulls his pants down and said you don't have one of these pointing to his bits so the little girl pulls her pants down and said while I've got one of these I can have as many of those as I like.

You two did a great job yourselves on this..look at all the labor you saved,,but lumber costs money..saving as you go is the trick,,finding good deals is a must now days..its sad in the USA how we get ripped off..i hope it all ends soon..older people and young ones with kids are suffering from high prices..theres just no future in it,,,we must make our own little American dream..as hard as it seems..but sometimes it happens enjoy the heat

What about an HRV system to provide ventilation? With it being insulated really well and airtight there will be lots of condensation generated on the windows from cooking, showers etc in the winter months. Summer months you can just open windows for ventilation.
There is ventilation in the bathroom and there will be a hood vent for the stove most likely, other than that, no issues with window condensation.
If you have live internet have you ever thought of a rolling live feed of the build via a webcam so we can dip into the feed at different times? Obviously maintaining your privacy but just a thought.
Maybe a livestream while building a section of the build might be cool if there are enough people interested. Maybe we should run a pole!? :)

Jeremy, thanks for the Show & Tell! I haven't heard you state it yet (or I missed it), but how is the new addition going to be oriented in relation to the current cabin? Will the ridges be parallel to each other or will the new addition's ridge run perpendicular to the current cabin? My assumption is perpendicular.

I am looking to build a similar square of house for my upcoming retirement. Is it indiscreet to know the cost of materials for such a project in self-construction??? Unless I'm mistaken, I didn't see you insulating the floor???
Hey, we did an early cost breakdown here ruclips.net/video/IGpr3VYD0_I/видео.html . And we insulated the floor with 'bubble foil' insulation. That along with skirting works well for us. All the best!

For what it’s worth it’s called a soffit not a bulkhead just saying your house you say what you like. I’m just telling you.
Not sure what you think I was talking about but it should have been clear; but what I was talking about is building out bulkheads in the cabin. The soffit is on the outside as I also mentioned earlier in the video briefly. All the best.
