Tools used:
T20 Torx screwdriver
Philips screwdriver PH1 and PH2
Ratchet wrench or drive handle
Round file
Torque screwdriver (accuracy at least one decimal place)
Puller
Outer circlip pliers
Inner bearing puller for 8 mm inner diameter ball bearing
Inner circlip pliers
Hydraulic press, vise or a big hammer
Bench grinder
12 point 19 mm socket
16 mm milling cutter

Parts used:
Wheel motor original ball bearings are 698ZZ (8 (ID) x 19 (OD) x 6 (Width) mm), if changed use 698RS or 6982RS, because they have better moisture resistance.
Original oil seal (8 (ID) x 15.5 (OD) x 3 (Width) mm), replace with (8 (ID) x 16 (OD) x 3 (Width) mm)
Lubricants used:
ADDINOL Multi-purpose Grease L 2 MO NLGI 2
Silicone grease NLGI 2
Soaking liquid:
White spirit (mineral spirit)
Price for one wheel motor gears regreasing is 20 € (VAT included).
Price for one wheel motor gears regreasing and two outer bearings change is 40 € (VAT included).

Hey I need to replace my planetary gears and also the sun gear. I don't see these on your shop anymore. Are they still available?
@@wesleyberg686 I am not affiliated with this shop and as far as I can see, different repair kits are still available.
Very helpful - many thanks
Great tip on switching motor sides.
Excellente vidéo. Merci beaucoup.
Hi ive stripped my gearbox down and currently waiting for bearings to be delivered, im just wondering if you have any updates on the type of grease to use due to the plastic and metal gears used. I keep reading petroleum grease is not suitable for plastic and silicone isnt great for steel geats 🤔
By the way great video going to save me plenty of cash 😊
In this video description and inside the video is stated ADDINOL Multi-purpose Grease L 2 MO NLGI 2 as recommended gearbox grease. So far, it has not let any gearbox down. Petroleum based grease can damage only certain type of plastics, but it seems Husqvarna gearbox plastic gears can handle it.
Great video, thanks very much!
Great video, serious work and well done. Really helpful, thanks alot!
Excellent information
Great video!! I'm planning doing this during the winter. I have one question though: Instead of pushing the shaft further in, can't you just put in a distance washer behind the circlip or the bearing to remove the slack?
Yes, if the washer has the same thickness as the slack, but it can be difficult to find correct thickness washer to eliminate the slack entirely. Also, I would be cautious adding washer between the planetary gears carrier and bearing, since there will be less axial room gears to rotate in.
Great Video, thanks a lot
Excellent video. Its a really pity these parts cant be purchased
For Husqvarna it's business as always.

Hi is it the same procedure on the 105 model wheel motors?
@@viggyuk Hi! I don't know.
Thanks so much for all the info! Sadly I saw this video to late, mixed up the gears and what way they should be mounted. Now have more tension in the gears then before. You think it's possible that they grind together after some time?
What causes tension (agitation) is grease itself. Adding grease in the gearbox will increase rolling resistance. In the video is presented, how much grease should be added and what type and viscosity it should be. Mixing up gears orientation will cause uneven wear within gears and premature gearbox failure.
23:16 I don't fully understand the effort.
Thin washers with 0.1mm are available cheaply and you could adjust the play more precisely without any risk
I would be cautious adding washer between the planetary gears carrier and bearing, since there will be less axial room gears to rotate in.
@@ouherizon
I'm not changing the position that was already possible. Only the axial play is eliminated. I used an 8x14x0.2mm washer. Alternatively, I could have used one with 13x19x0.2mm and placed it against the snap ring.
My bearings were well worn out and had a lot of play. After 8000km they were still running smoothly. Unfortunately, the axle was partially reduced to 7.90mm. It's hard to get that fixed.
Some dealers advertise new wheel motors from 2019/2020 with: "New bearing solution, improved grease solution, improved lubrication, harder gears, no more plastic"
Is that really true? What exactly is different?
PS: 23:06 Be careful! The bearings can be pressed slightly below the surface. Simply flat would not fit properly.
What are the characteristics of the engine? Couple. Power. Speed
Thanks
Been servicing my own wonky wheel motors from my 450x following this vid, with great success. Unfortunately , a lot of damage was done by dog hair in the motors before I discovered the problem and there is now significant play on right hand motor. I have decided to invest in a new motor, but am I better doing both right and left motor together or is it ok to do one at a time, as reckon there is at least another season in the left hand one? Great vid once again.
You can replace one at the time, although some dealers may claim gear ratio is different, which is false.
4:32 What is the spec of those ph1 screws? I successfully fixed a motor thanks to this video, but I damaged one of those screws in the process. So I would like to be prepared in case I have to fix it again. Big thanks for the instructive video!
I don't know

Bonjour savez vous où on peut trouver les pièces détachées du moteur (les engrenages)

This video is by far the best I've found for rebuilding the automower gearboxes. Thank you! I'm rebuild 6 motors now and just found one where the nylon gears have worn out their center holes (surprising since you said you rarely see that). Is it possible to buy the nylon gears alone?
Yes
@@ouherizon - do you have part numbers? I know you sell them yourself but assume you are in Europe. I'm in the US. I'm hoping I could find a source nearby.
@@mazoman53560 Husqvarna does not sell any wheel motor parts separately (besides white o-ring). You can ask your local dealer for used ones though.
Thanks so much for that video! Helped me a lot when I had a failing gearbox! Do you know if it is possible to buy the sungear separately?
I am not aware of its availability.

Great Video, Do you know the specifications of the screws that hold the motor to the gear box? 14min 30sec in the video. I broke the head of one of these screws.
No, I do not know. They are standard screws, every hardware store should have them in stock.

Excellent, Thank you ! Local dealers (I am in France) do not (want to?) sell spare parts such as the plastic and metallic gear bearings, and they keep used motors for them. Can I buy these gearing directly from you ?
Yes, like I said in the video, Husqvarna does not want to sell wheel motor parts, just a new motor. Yes, I have used plastic and metallic planetary gears for sale (no sun gear though). For contact information visit this channel navigation tab "About", I do not post e-mail address here directly due to spam.

I'm also curious what specific bearing puller you use - I'm having a difficult time getting my inner bearing puller to grip the bearing with the inner circlip in place and the narrow gap.

Hello, What is the reference of the Gears? Thank you
I don't know.
Kas kusagilt on võimalik leida varuosasid? Just see nö päikeseratas millel hambad kulunud?
No. Your best bet is to find second hand motors . I did and made one good motor.
