Based on true events, Foxcatcher tells the dark and fascinating story of the unlikely and ultimately tragic relationship between an eccentric multi-millionaire (Steve Carell) and two champion wrestlers (Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo). Directed by Academy Award® nominee Bennett Miller (2005, Best Director, Capote), it is a rich and moving story of brotherly love, misguided loyalty and the corruption and emotional bankruptcy that can accompany great power and wealth.
That's the real Mark Schultz who is watching the scale at the beginning of this scene. Just noticed. This movie is underrated.
I feel bad for the real Mark Schultz. They portrayed him inaccurately for the sake of dramatization. The real Mark Schultz wasn't even at foxcatcher at the same time as his brother Dave.
at 0:18-0:19 right? I knew he looked familiar
@@gregorydacosta2102 great acting job by Tatum, but they definitely made him too “Lenny” and childlike.
Brock Lesnar is also in that scene. It's an extremely small appearance, but he's in it
@@gregorydacosta2102 You have to take creative liberty. If they just portrayed reality it would be a documentary.
7:28 I love the anger in his eyes when he sees DuPont try to come in and give him shit. Imagine working as hard as these guys do and this guy, who’s only real skill is having enough money to bankroll a team, tries to come in and give you flack with a look of disrespect
Sometimes people with money think they are the end all be all experts of everything because they pay for something. They think it gives them the most knowledge and power. That’s why they are so surprised when they find people call them out on how uneducated they really are
@@Falconforge89John thought that he could buy his way into a dream that was denied to him, and the Schultz brothers paid the price
This is such an uncomfortable movie in the best way possible. Everything is done so well.
Tatum doesn’t get enough credit for his work on this. Those weren’t acting punches he was hitting himself with.
You know that people add sounds to movies, right?
Those “weren’t acting punches” were more than likely a size 10 dunk lows slapping an old ham from walmart
@@yourdaddy9622 yeah it’s called foley and they may have used it, but I don’t think it was that. The hits don’t look pulled and why wouldn’t Tatum take a few real hits for his first real prestige film? And if your actor is willing to punch himself, I’d imagine you roll sound on that to get the most realism.
@@johansmallberries9874 have him bruised up for the next scene? Nah. They’d say I like where you’re going, but we’re going to slap a ham with a shoe. He reportedly passed on the actual physical self abuse, and went with the effects department. They asked if it came out to his liking for the film, and he exclaimed a vigorous “my name is Jeff” to green light the motion picture teetering on the relativity of the scene. You have to let the credits play all the way through on the 21 jump street dvd. It’s an easter egg as the kids say. Clear as day. Hope this helps. Chars.
@@johansmallberries9874except this actually happened. its on the record. he beat himself and bloodied his face
@@yourdaddy9622well you never had a break down apparently because anyone whos been through this knows those where real shots regardless of sound
Thats a slap of love right there--REAL tough love. Not the fake manipulative kind that builds shame. No. These slaps say "i KNOW you can do better. I believe in you brother. Now lets hug it out, pick up the pieces and WIN!"
Dave was a good brother, and a good man.
Dave was everything John wanted to be. He was a great coach and an even better brother
3:23- to think Tatum done this for real. Lucky he didn’t go for 4 hits as well
Wrestlers are truly the toughest & most disciplined men in the world...
A fighter is the most dangerous when he’s alone.
Thanks for sharing this.
what a weird thing for a person to say...
You should get a medal for losing 12 lbs in 90 minutes.
But you don't, you still have to perform... & perform well
You can smell the shame in that hotel room! 😢
Looks like a young Oleg Taktarov behind Tatum
I think we can take something from dave on how to be a good brother. I myself need to do a better job
4:49 hulk slaps gambit
Man Channing Hurt Himself While Filming Ouch
Why are these clips so quiet? I have my computer audio and external speakers at 100% and still can barely hear anything. Significantly quieter than any other videos on RUclips that I've watched recently.
Same
It's not. Fix your audio. Just finished watching the clip.
Too much porn
Does It Have Music In This Scene?
No. They're purposely not putting in music so u can feel the intensity of the situation. Letting the acting be enough.
My dad really likes
Did he lose the whole 12 pounds in 90 minutes, or is this made up for the movie? Is that even possible?
A lot of it would be water weight. But 90 minutes of overly severe, intense cardio done by an athlete with a great metabolism could easily burn up thousands of calories. I've gotten back from 10+ mile runs weighing five pounds less from when I set out.
@@christianusvandeneijnden6705and he's got two or three layers of sweats on. I used to do that every night after practice in high school
Channing In Offscreen ow my head ow it hurts
Seems like a healthy lifestyle.
It isn't; why would you make a smart arse statement as if you thought it was? 🙄
@@Brown87 You rode the short bus to school.
@@AndJusticeForMe I was winning medals for Scotland whilst I was still in school 😎
@@Brown87 No you weren’t.
@@AndJusticeForMe Indeed I was; I started wrestling when I was 11, won my first gold medal later that year and went on to represent both Scotland and Team GB 💙
I hated cutting weight 🤼
So, true, you're always in an absolutely horrible state mind. The binge junk food eating hits hard Just a small cup of water tastes like it's the greatest sip of water you've ever had.
@@ProtomanButCallMeBlues I often competed at 196 and my natural weight was around 210; so it wasn't as bad as other guys who were dropping from 190 down to 158 and so on...
Now, I walk around at 240 and I would just enter at heavyweight if I still competed...
My senior year HS I wrestled 145lb weight class and struggled all season. I was over pretty bad with a tourney right around the corner. I thought I wasn’t going to cut it. Coincidentally got the FLU the first and only time in my life. I recovered in time for the tournament and was well under the mark when I stepped on the scale.
@@loyaltyisroyalty5616 One of the wrestlers I knew in Scotland always had a tough time cutting weight in order to make 185; at one stage, he was closer to 210 but then was hospitalised due to a staph infection 🏥
After two weeks in hospital, he had gone from around 209 to 183 and earned a bronze medal at the British championships just a few days after his release 🥉
@@Brown87 wow. That is pretty impressive. There are some very dedicated individuals in the sport.
140lbs.
and thats a crybaby folks
missing the point
you're right, they should all move to Romania and do crime the cops there get paid off.
@atkascha okay
Thats not a cry baby that's a dedicated individual that can't accept failure because he was taught its not an option. You've never been in complete despair from training so excessively and passionately that when you fail your whole world collapses around you and you're left confused and so you act irrationally.
